    I am a new girl at Sally's, and this (and your other) videos have helped me a lot! I not only have more to talk about with customers, but now when they come in with chipped and damaged nails, I can help them out and suggest each of the products I saw you use to them. Thanks so much

    Awesome video. I saw this a while ago but just tried it today. I have tried the teabag method but it worked for about an hour before breaking again. I used regular brush on nail glue, not the stuff you used, and it came out great. Thanks so much!

    This is such a big help to me. I cannot believe that I am doing a nail repair on myself. I normally would just peel the nail off. Well explained. TFS! Happy Holidays!

    I've been watching your videos for maybe two months now, and I have to say that you are by far my favourite nail lady with cutepolish coming in close behind. You're very real, you have a way of explaining things that makes even complicated manicures simple to do. There's no fluff of any kind anywhere! I've been able to amaze my friends and family with water marbling all because of you! Thank you for helping me realise how much I love nails. Yay career path realised :)

    SLP!!!! I KNEW IT; I knew exactly where to send someone to learn how to patch a broken nail(of any length).I have used the silk wraps for many moons and have not found a better product.And to the question of what if a nail breaks totally off? YES repair it.I will be glad to explain how on my messenger so as not to use SLP's space. Unless she wants me to answer here.

    @OasisOfBeauty I don't want to make any promises - because I am a huge procrastinator - but it is on my to-do list. • @MSLP
    @MSLP  13 лет назад

    @RootsRunDeeep pretty much, yes =) I think wraps normally go over the whole nail though, to strengthen it, rather than just over a break or tear

  • @MSLP
    @MSLP  14 лет назад

    @evcsgirl811 I do take a biotin supplement, other than that I try to keep my nails & cuticles very moisturized. When I have peeling tips, I have used patches like this to make them stronger until the peeling grows out.
    If you head over to my blog, I've listed specific products that I like under the tag "Nail Maintence" =)

    Thanks for sharing your technique! I used to do repairs with the tea bag technique, and though it was working, I had to do it ever time I changed my manicure. A Sally's just opened up in town (literally just opened on Monday), and I went to get the silk patches and some gel resin, and my 4 nails that I have to repair seem stronger than with the tea bag.

  • @MSLP
    @MSLP  13 лет назад

    @LNETSA I don't cover my whole nail with the patch - just the part that's torn or damaged =) So it doesn't really make a difference as it grows out.

  • @MSLP

    as I explain in the vid, they hold together small breaks so they can grow out =)

    @dena123abc I think nail oil is fine to apply as often as you want =) You can check out my nail maintenance vid for my full routine, I make sure to moisturize a lot & also take a biotin supplement. I think you can order from Sallys online, but if you're not comfortable doing that maybe there is an ulta in your area?

  • @MSLP

    @emm1861 I'm not sure if they'd be available in normal kind of store, it is kind of more of a specialty nail product that just plain polish. If you have some kind of local beauty supply I would start there, but in the even you can't find these kind of products, you can do the same technique with just a little piece of tea bag & clear polish =)

    Thanks for this great tutorial Colette, I don't know if I am going to do this yet on my mini-tear on my index finger or not, but I am thinking about it. I used to be a nail tech and did it using nail glue but I think the gel is better all around. I just don't know if I want to do this or not, do you feel it is damaging to the natural nail or weakens them? I LOVED all the pics on your blog on this subject, so I am tempted to give it a go. Thanks again!

  • @MSLP

    I don't have a UV light - this kind I let dry naturally, the kind I use now comes with a curing spray =)

  • @MSLP
    @MSLP  12 лет назад

    @amonka4xx it holds the nail together if you have a tear or break so it can grow out =)

  • @MSLP
    @MSLP  13 лет назад

    @ThePamster I really don't think it harms the natural nail - just be sure when you remove it, soak it off with remover & don't try to just peel or pick it off - if you do that I can see it being damaging or taking off parts of your nail with it =) At this point I have been using patches for about 2 years when I get tears, and have not noticed any ill effects.

    @mrs79jones I will for sure have my Dr take a look next time I am there - I have never heard of melanonychia before, but I have been keeping an eye on the streak - kind of like any weird moles or freckles that pop up - but I actually have several on my toenails also. Thanks for giving me a heads up & for your concern =)

  • @ThePamster
    @ThePamster 13 лет назад

    @SimpleLittlePleasues Well I did it and it wasn't too bad, I am wearing Flying Dragon over it to hide the imperfections since I used the patch over the entire nail, I was worried it would tear on the other side, but it seems like it's going to hold up good. I really appreciate you making this video, it helped me a lot Colette! Thanks again!

    wow I never knew about the silk patches. My nails tears all the time. I can't wait to get some

  • @MSLP
    @MSLP  13 лет назад

    @LNETSA you do have to remove it eventually - even if you reinforce it with more resin as it wears away, I usually change mine every few weeks. Occassional I will even get a tear despite having the silk. You may be able to wear them longer if you don't change your polish very often. Also, they will last longer if you use non-acetone remover for you polish, but I don't like that kind =)

    Sallys also has glue dryer that dries the glue instantly so you don't have to wait it comes in a aerosol spray can its white& pink. I use it love it the only thing is you have to wipe the nail with alcohol after you spray it before you apply more glue or it will harden your glue brush besides that it works great. Just a little fyi for you. I love your passion for nails keep up the great work.

    usually if I get lifting it's due to either not getting the nail completely clean, or from exposure to a lot of water/hand washing. Sometimes I will glue the break independently but I don't usually put down a whole layer =)

    @ThePamster the biotin definitly helps. Sometime I will do something clutzy & expect to have broken nail & everything is fine. I still manage to get tears on sort of a regular basis, but not as bad as before, or sometimes only a tear where before I would have had a full break. I love it for peeling also, my nails don't peel at all any more =)
