The wraps I used have an adhesive back so you don't need to use glue to adhere it to the nail. Buffing is only to even and smooth out the surface of the nail so it's not necessary to buff between coats of glue.
Thank you for this video. You may have just helped me save my nails. After wearing gel nails for years and switching to shellac, my nails were damaged and weak. I spent the last 2 years growing them out only using clear polish or strengthener. They still break, split, and peel so I've been looking for a way to harden and strengthen my nails. Found your video and just did my nails today. They came out beautifully. Very simple. Thank you again so much!
Didn't even get I to the meat of the video and it got a like from me already. I appreciate the explanation of the different types of wraps and the nails they're best suitable for
Just a tip, i'm in Cosmetology class and for nail wraps before you apply the fabric you need to put a coat of nail glue then put on the wrap, then another coat of nail glue, buff, another coat of nail glue, buff, and another coat of nail glue and buff then buff with nail oil for a high shine.
I never use that. Great ideal, but my nails are long from using garlic. I use garlic twice a day and it took me 2 months to grow out my nails this long.___. I use hard as hoofs to every day, plus cuticle oil all the time and coo coo butter. On Saturday I do all of it. I take nail clear polish off do cuticles and I do garlic, vitamin E rub it on bare nail to help fix nail problems. Also I use carotene nail hardener. And pink armer nail jell. You can get it at Walmart. It's thick coat really gives the protection needed. Then my top coat is carotene and if my nails need filed I only go one way! That keeps them from chipping. Plus I buff only edges to keep smooth from catching on anything. Good luck and enjoy your nails.😊
I use brush on gel and then the brush on activator. I can't that spray because it has a strong smell to it and I have asthma. I put on about three or four coats on my nail. Very nice results. When I have a bad nail I mostly use silk wrap like a bad-aid. Which is exactly what silk wraps are for.
Thank you so much, this helps a lot :) My nails won't grow long even with a little white they tear low in the nailbed area. It's so frustrating, so I am very thankful for your idea :)
You have to use a gel resin activator spray! Don't use drying spray!the activator spray helps to activate the resin to make it harder. Otherwise you might as well use super glue
A resin activator is only need for certain resins, the one I'm using is more like a gel nail glue and doesn't need an activator. The drying spray isn't necessary but just helps to dry it instantly.
you should try the kit repair from kiss brand I use if and it last long because it also comes with a dipping powder. first you put the silk wrap on your nail , then brush the glue on top and then your nail in the dipping power that comes with the kit, it is like an acrylic kind of power. I love this kit. it last longer even when change nail polish. after dipping just glue again let it dry ,file and buff 😀
it depends on if your acetone has additives. If you are using pure acetone then it would be fine but if it has any glycerin/oils added I would use 91% or higher alcohol.
I use the silk wraps and nail resine.. The exact same ones in the video.. But I find after usually the very next day one snags on something and rips (like when I'm putting a shirt on or off or making the bed) and then the others follow literally the day after.. By the end of the week I need to take it off and do it again bc they look uneven or has chipped ruining the polish.. I'm not ruff with my hands at all! I have been wearing my natural nails for two years now.. So I know how to be always be aware of them.. But this method seems to only work for me if I'm trying to repair a rip on my natural nails, but to use to extend them doesn't work. I need something with a little bit more thickness I think.. Maybe I need the mesh wrap ones bc you said they were stronger.. But my nails are healthy so I'm confused I just want protection for them
I have been looking for an alternative to the way nails are normally done. I do not want them to file down my nail. The last time I got my nails done was when I turned 15 it was my first and last time. They filed down my nails and the nails were gorgeous!, but when I had to take them off since they were growing out my narural nails were so bad. I had naturally gorgeous nails, but that time my nails were brittle and so thin. I hated touching my natural nails and feeling how bumpy they felt. It took a long while for them to recover. Even now I feel like they just don't look like they use to.
You do want to make sure the nail is shine free, if your nails are smooth the wraps won't adhere and you will have lifting very quickly. A light buff with a 240 grit buffing block will not damage the nail.
Thanks for the video. I did it, came out great however. The brush for the resin gel got hard after a couple of uses. Any suggestions on how to clean or what I can do?
I don't know, that's just what i learned in cosmetology class, our fabric had adhesive backs too, we just applied that many coats to really strengthen the nail because we put tips on the nails too.
Thanks for this. I just had on tips so I let my nails grow with the tips & I'm ready to take them off & have my natural nails, but im guessing I have to wrap them in order to protect them.
Just did my nails according to your tutorial and I love them !!!! I think this will help me grow out my nails to a medium length, I am very excited. One question, as I applied the resin,by the second coat I noticed that the brush was clumping because of the glue, what should I do ? Should I clean the brush ? if so, how ? Thanks !
+Yelena Herst Is your glue drying on the brush? Always keep the brush in the glue and closed when not in use. Are you using a glue drying spray? If so you may want to wipe the nail with a lint free cloth before applying the second coat.
What would be the process using gel polish?? Apply foundation base coat over the silk? Would you prep and dehydrate and prime, b4 adding silk, then apply foundation gel base then cure, then file ? Then add colour if I want of gel? Might sound silly asking if I already know, but I don't, I'm just guessing? I'm thinking of using silk for extra strength under my gel manicure, so if I can add this in as a step , it sounds perfect, if I dint have to spend extra on more items ! Let me know many thanks , and it's just for me, not business , or I would just buy the right bits, but I have enough stuff lol , so if I don't need to buy more, then sounds perfect! So plz explain gel polish prices you mentioned in the video to me plz xc or if I have explained it right just say yes xx cheers
Good video, just remember not to get so close to the camera, since it doesn't seem to change its focus depth, and things just get blurry, except for that last shot. :)
I didn’t like the fiberglass at all, it stretch and lost its shape before I could get it on my nail. I did the left hand first, it was such a struggle, I soaked it off with Acetone and threw the fiberglass covers out. I have the Kiss gel that I apply like nail Polish to my nails then UV, this seems to work for me, think I will stick to it.
amiga yo lo hice tal cual, pero la fibra no pega se ve como que sí, pero esta falda, si la Halas se bien me toda. Friend I did it as it is, but the fiber does not look like it does, but this skirt, if the Halas will be all right.
Have you ever tried using the activating spray for resin? I heard that is what you are supposed to spray after setting it. I was wondering if you have and just found this way faster or if this is just your first go-to besides air drying. Mainly because I'd like to know how long it takes to dry with the resin activator spray and can't find anwsers. Haha.
The activator depends on the type of resin, some come with it and some are more like thicker/gel versions of nail glue. If you use an activator it should cure very quickly and be dry instantly.
How often can I paint my nails with wraps on, without having to reapply new wraps? I usually paint them every 4-5 days. Will using even non-acetone polish remover that often destroy the wraps or dissolve the resin?
Mira Burnett If you use non acetone remover you should be good for at least 2(maybe more) changes. If you want to go longer you can apply a gel sealer, like IBD Intense Seal, if you use this you can use regular acetone many times before needing to change (which will most likely need to be done because of regrowth).
That's perfectly fine. I'm only looking for a small amount of length for now. But all I would do to make the length is not cut the remaining silk and add more glue to the tips right?
moviegirl3073 You can keep them on for how ever long they last (that depends on application and how you treat them, i.e. how often you change your polish). And you can either grow them out or soak them off, that's up to you.
I liked you video- I have a question--- so I bought a set that came with non adhesive wraps and something called fiber builder.. is that supposed to make the wrap stay on or do I need to buy something else ? I would deeply appreciate if you could answer that for me... thanks a lot
If it's non adhesive you would need something to make it stick to the nail so I'm guessing that's what the fiber builder is? I'm not sure what product your using to give you more advice.
+Lucky Lucy Ricardo You soak them off in pure acetone until the dissolve off. I have a tutorial for removing gel polish and it's the same method I used for removing wraps.
+ThePolishedMommy no I'm not allergic but even when I take off just gel polish my nails peel and are very thin. Will the same effect come from these wraps?
I know =( I don't monetize my videos so most of them aren't available on mobile. And because I use music in some of my videos I'm unable to monetize them (which makes them available on mobile). sorry.
If you want to use the wraps to create length you would want to add some extra layers and resin to make sure it's thick enough. Wraps will act like a natural nail so they will break easier than other enhancements.
+ThePolishedMTommy is the best nail care ever. I use the harder. Which my grandma taught me about years ago. I was a nail bitter for years. And finelly around 16 my grandma showed me how to get them to grow and stop bitting them
nail glue doesn't need to be cured, it air dries. The spray I used just helps it dry faster. If you are using a resin instead be sure to read the directions on how to cure it.
Great. I liked the video. I've been looking for an alternative to fake nails. Mine are brittle and break too easily. Question: after you apply the wraps and paint your nails, do you need to redo the whole thing when taking the polish off or just change colors as you would with natural nails?
+tatianamichel2 Depends, you can use acetone (avoid pure acetone) and you should be fine. They won't hold up to several polish changes though. You could also buff the surface then apply a gel sealer which creates a more durable finish and resists acetone (it does need to be filed off before you can soak off the wrap).
It's not the filing, it's bad technicians that damage nails. Any technician worth their weight will tell you bad technicians are the ones who do damage and make all techs look bad. Poor prep makes the nail bed weak as well as genetics.
why do you put the silk wraps on the entire nail. I saw another tutorial where they said to never put the silk wrap all the way to the cuticle. which is right. I ordered silk wraps for my nails because they have been breaking a lot lately. Please answer my question.
Paula Cirulnick I think it might just be a preference. My nails are weak and bend easily so I added the rap to the entire nail to fully strengthen it. But these were not applied to the cuticle, you want to keep the wrap just below the cuticle area.
It is personal preference. I learned how to do it in cosmetology school. We learned how to do it on the whole nail like adding nail tips and then fiberglass wraps over it like an acrylic set but wth fiberglass. It's a lot easier than acrylic. But it does burn if you get it on your skin.
i have a question , i work and they won' let us get our nails done how should i get them done naturally and not noticeable like if i got them done . Anyone can help me ?
+Alexandrea Moreno Depends on why you can't wear polish. If for sanitation reasons I would avoid using any polish. If you need to keep it professional a nice sheer pink or nude (like OPI Bubble Bath) would be nice.
Acrylics are not bad for your nails I do my own and their perfectly healthy, it's the people who don't know what their doing that's bad for you nails. As Greg says "it's not the tools that do the harm it's the fools who do the harm"
Doing everyday things harm your nails. And my mom had thin nails and I started 5 months ago to put acrylic nails on her and her nails are harder and stronger than ever so it actually protected her nails and helped them grow better.
HaYLOHAYLIE1 that's true, but it doesn't negate the point that filing also damages your nails. not sure why you felt the need to make that point. i'm glad it works for your mom, but it definitely does not work for me. it causes a lot of damage to mine, regardless of who does it. nails are not a black and white situation, what works for you does not always work for everyone.
If you do your acrylic yourself and just barely buff your nails, it would actually probably really, really help you out but all nail places that I know of make your nails SO thin before applying the acrylic and honestly, that isn't going to help your natural nail at all. It is not necessary to file your nail down as much as most nail places do. You just need to file it a little, just like she is doing in this video. I am actually looking at nail wrapping or acrylic just to make mine stronger but I'd obviously do them myself at home because I don't want my nail filed paper thin.
The damage comes from inexperienced or uneducated nail techs, who aren't using their tools and implements properly. Wraps are an enhancement, like any other nail enhancement service like hard gel/acrylic, etc. It's not more healthy.
You talk so slow it’s almost impossible to follow what you’re saying...I can’t focus and have to try to fast forward and rewind and it’s just too bad that you have to do that so not everyone can benefit from the video 🙄
The wraps I used have an adhesive back so you don't need to use glue to adhere it to the nail. Buffing is only to even and smooth out the surface of the nail so it's not necessary to buff between coats of glue.

Strengtheners make nails break and snap just use cuticle oil and ridge filling base coat.

I used silk wraps for my thin, weak nails. It was a lot of work, but the result was very natural. The only thing is, that it does not last long.
the name of the kit is kiss fix it up silk wrap repair kit
Kim Thank you so much ! I had no idea where or what to purchase to do this 👍🏻

yes, instead of trimming down the extra just shape and file the edges.

This is a great video. exactly what I was looking for.
Hi, you mentioned that instead of resin you can use a gel polish. What gel Polish you recommend?
Silk wraps are actually stronger than fiberglass... I love the Swiss Pre cut self adhesive...
I enjoyed your vid 😊
Diane Ferre' Could you please tell me where I can purchase them ?
I need this in my life. 😭

Jamia Davidson Yes here's a good video for that Extend a NAIL Without a Tip or a Form
Thanks Hun
Can you just use the resin alone without the using fiberglass and silk wrap
You can but it won't have the same strength.
Can you add length using raps?
How long do you keep the set of wraps on? Do you let them grow out? Do you soak them off?
moviegirl3073 You can keep them on for how ever long they last (that depends on application and how you treat them, i.e. how often you change your polish). And you can either grow them out or soak them off, that's up to you.
Great thank you :)
Can u apply gel polish?
Fiberglass is the BEST I love it so much more than acrylic because it actually helps your nails out!
+Brianna DelCampo : In what way does it "help" your nails?
How do you remove the resin?
Is there a type of silk wrap (or other types) that does not show a pattern on the nail?
I liked you video- I have a question--- so I bought a set that came with non adhesive wraps and something called fiber builder.. is that supposed to make the wrap stay on or do I need to buy something else ? I would deeply appreciate if you could answer that for me... thanks a lot

Thank you! 💅
thanks, my camera likes to go focus crazy so I have to put it on manual focus. I have to remember not to get close to it.=)
When you buff after filing the tips of the wraps off, how coarse a buffer do you use?
+Sandi K The super fine file is maybe equal to a 320 or 240 grit buffer
+ThePolishedMommy : Thank you kindly!
Can you do nail pinching for nails that are too fanned out with this method?
Silk wraps are the way to go
How long does it take to soak off and what technique do you use to soak off the Wraps? Thank you! 💅
+Lucky Lucy Ricardo You soak them off in pure acetone until the dissolve off. I have a tutorial for removing gel polish and it's the same method I used for removing wraps.
Great video! Would the gel resin hurt my nail like gel polish does?
+Alyssa Alexander It depends on why they hurt you, if you have an allergy to it you may want to avoid all enhancements.
+ThePolishedMommy no I'm not allergic but even when I take off just gel polish my nails peel and are very thin. Will the same effect come from these wraps?
+Alyssa Alexander If you don't file beforehand, fully soak them off and then hydrate with cuticle oil. You're nails should not be affected.
Does it matter if you use alcohol or acetone to prep your nails?
Acetone may have moisturizers added, if it’s not 100%, so that will interfere with adhesion.
I know you said you can use glue, instead of resin. Is it the same only because I'm thinking the less chemicals the better?
Resin needs to be cured, either with a lamp or spray, where glue air dries. It's your preference on what works best for you
I know =( I don't monetize my videos so most of them aren't available on mobile. And because I use music in some of my videos I'm unable to monetize them (which makes them available on mobile). sorry.
Where do you get the mesh wraps please.
Sally Beauty Supply.
Hi I'm a new subscriber 😉 can I leave them on longer or does it have to be cut down to the same size as your natural nails
If you want to use the wraps to create length you would want to add some extra layers and resin to make sure it's thick enough. Wraps will act like a natural nail so they will break easier than other enhancements.
is the pattern still visible after polishing them?
So like nail polish will work too?
No, nail polish doesn't have the same durability as gel polish.
What do you do to your cuticles? & great video! And I am watching know mobile so what were your other comments about?
I use Sally Hansen cuticle remover to remove the cuticle and I moisturize everyday.
Hi can i still use my gel polishes and still cure under a led lamp with these wraps
yes!
Instead of polish can I put press on nails
Great. I liked the video. I've been looking for an alternative to fake nails. Mine are brittle and break too easily. Question: after you apply the wraps and paint your nails, do you need to redo the whole thing when taking the polish off or just change colors as you would with natural nails?

+ThePolishedMommy thank you!
Please list the name of the resin because the video focus is off. Thanks for the video!
It's IBD brush on nail resin! You can find it at Sally's or Harmons
IBD 5-Second Brush-On Gel Resin. I only know that because I seen the exact stuff on Sally Beauty's website while looking it up. Haha. :)
Thx!
does this help your nails grow??
It can help your nails not to break but it won't speed up growth.
does the nails grow out like nail tips? & Will it help make my natural nails grow?
It doesn't help your nails grow, just adds surface strength to you nails. They will grow out like tips and can be soaked off and reapplied.
What brand of gel resin did you use? Also, can you add even more gel resin layers if you want even more strength?
IBD brush on gel resin
ThePolishedMommy Thank you!
It's not the filing, it's bad technicians that damage nails. Any technician worth their weight will tell you bad technicians are the ones who do damage and make all techs look bad. Poor prep makes the nail bed weak as well as genetics.
Can you see the fibers of the wrap on the nails?
If you only do one coat of the gel resin, you will see the fibers.
The noise it made when wiping the nails with alcohol made me cringe like nails on a chalkboard 😵
Where can you buy them ?
Your silk wrap is best n simple bc most Videos take too long n talk too much.
Can this be removed afterwards?
can this technique be used to add length to short, bitten nails?
Yes, but you won't be able to extend the length too far, if you are looking for long nails you might want to do an acrylic extension.
u dont use resin activator? i saw that product in sallys.
The resin activator is used for for some gels, just read the directions on the particular gel you buy to see if it needs an activator.
Can you post a list of all the products please?
I added the product list in the description box =)
Can you use this to add a bit of length too?
You could, just add a few more thin layers of glue to the tip to create more strength.
HI, thanks so much for your video, can you use any colour gel polish once you have applied your tip?
Yes, you can use whatever gel you like =)
can you use anything else to add length to your nails ? I don't have any nail wraps. could I use tape or even a half cut tip nail?
You could use a nail tip, but I wouldn't use tape. Because it has a smooth surface glue or resin won't adhere well to it.
I only have false nail glue
nail glue dries to hard and will crack and lift when just applied to the nail. The resin has some flexibility so it won't crack
why do you put the silk wraps on the entire nail.
What stuff do I need can u list it please and where I can get it.
I added the product list in the description box =)
i have a question , i work and they won' let us get our nails done how should i get them done naturally and not noticeable like if i got them done .
