I used to silk wrap my nails back in the early 90’s! Just for protection of my natural nails and you only used clear base to adhere it. Work so freaking well I swear! There were steps to follow but I rarely broke a nail and no peeling! This was cool. Ty for sharing. Great stuff
Suzie when I learned application of any wraps, I was taught to apply the self stick wrap which is easy to apply...THEN you glue and spray several layers, cut to length and file. Never put glue/spray on first !!! When I learned this technique there were no gels so I think this would be great to add now... Thanks for your terrific videos. Love you much 💕
I hope you will see this and reply. I was thinking the sme from other applications I've seen. I want to try this to fix a broken natural nail. I wonder if you know how this kind of product is removed? Also, if you have any thoughts. I don't like to use nail glue or super glue or crazy glue because the glue itself is so brittle one dry and I feel like it makes my, already broken nail more brittle and therfore likely to break again. Lastly, am I correct to assume it is fine to use regular nail polish on this? Thank you in advance!!💜💜💜

They complimented my hands so well and I LOVE how natural they look! Plus they never damaged my nails! I have naturally long nails now, so maybe I should wrap my nails at home to keep the length! They need to bring wrap nails back!!

Suzie I’m so glad to see you use these, I’ve not had anyone ask for them for over 10yrs now, when I started my training in 1995 we were taught Gel, Acrylic, fibreglass & silk wrap, I thought they were the best looking nails of the 3 especially the shine after everything was complete, I’ve still got some packets of fibreglass & few packs of silk & the pre cut ones in my nail drawer, they aren’t any use now as the sticky part goes, I only use my fibreglass for broken nails now as they are great for fixing a broken nail then I carry on working with whatever the client requires over the top💅🏽💅🏽💅🏽
I remember way back when, when silk was the top tried & true way to save a broken nail. I still use it till this day! Just now getting into gels so I’m not sure about it yet. But I can silk wrap a nail like nobodies business LOL Also trim the edges a tiny bit with tiny scissors before you glue, harden and strength that tip, so you’re not filing you life away afterwards. And I always sure it up with an acrylic overlay. Back in the day it was either this or a full press on nail. And this was always my preferred nail repair or extension choice.
@@LadyAcee thats a pretty outdated phrase. It was obviously meant as a compliment. Im from a younger generation and we actually tend to think it more rude to be so hush-hush about a womans age, as if the aging process isnt natural and beautiful in itself.
I love fiberglass nails, I got licensed in 2004 and have been doing it since then! A lot of my clients switched from other nail extension forms to this! I will do this and continue to offer it as long as I can find the product!
I'm so glad you showed us this! My mom used to get silk nails a long time ago, and since she stopped going to that salon I've never seen it done anywhere! I honestly thought I was crazy since I was so little when I was watching the nail tech. She had the sheets where she had to cut each individual nail out, but they always looked fabulous!
I absolutely love doing silk nails!! I did them for almost 15 years at the shop I worked in back home! I miss doing them!! Where I am now I do a bit of everything! I’m so glad you did this video! Maybe more people will get back into it!
I've just found your videos after a nail horror story of my own today. I got my first manicure ever 3 months ago: gel nails which I've had refilled 3 times. I went in to have them removed and the tech PEELED THEM OFF using a metal instrument. It was so painful I had to stop them a few times. After that, they used a file on my nail then sent me packing. I am in so much pain right now and I have to say it is thanks to you that I realized the nail tech must have been untrained...You and the pain I'm in right now saved me from gping back. I'm not sure if you have, but please consider making a nail care video for those of us who are dealing with the aftercare for bad manicures--I've no idea what to do with these paper thin, aching, and bright red nails :I SUBBED
dontcallmefelicia whenever I remove an old manicure, I *IMMEDIATELY* go in with Julep beauty ‘s Oxygen nail treatment. As long as I keep up with it while the nail grows out, I never have a problem. But you may wanna get some bandaids and neosporin on those first!
I went to sallys and got resin and acrylic. For thin nails, pain resin onto nail. Quickly dip into clear or light pink acrylic. File with 100 grit to smooth. No spray needed. Buff

i would recommend good oils over a strengthener unless you do a lot of labor, because most of the time a strengthener will make the nail TOO hard and it will SNAP instead of bend when there's pressure. @simplynailogical has a great video on how to grow long nails, but really it's great for taking care of nails in general. for a nail oil, mix jojoba oil and vitamin e, those two will do the most for nails specifically (though a good cuticle oil from a store is good too!) and in a pinch, you can use a good quality lip balm like this one www.ulta.com/smiths-rosebud-salve?productId=xlsImpprod12881005. this one www.ulta.com/superfruit-complex-shea-butter-lip-balm?productId=xlsImpprod15691717 is what i happened to have on hand when I was waiting for all of my acrylics to fall off because my last visit had been so bad I just refused to even risk anywhere else. It seems weird, but my nails were just ripping all over the pace they were so thin, and using this I could literally feel the strength coming back.
I remember being little going with my mom to the nail shop watching her get her nails done like this...in the early to mid 90s. So different and timely.
I did this for my prom nails around 5 years ago!! Everyone was amazed that I did the them myself 😊 I gave myself some French white tips and even added little gems too!
I use to use this method in the early 80’s but I used acrylic Dip powder on top of the glue to give it strength and a smooth finish. This video brought back so many memories for me in my early years of doing nails! Thank you Susie!!!!❤️💅 Your the best.

Catrina Bush girl...I wore wraps on my nails for years before I got married! After marriage and moving, I can’t find anyone that will do it! I too have naturally long nails and honestly, if you want them to look natural and not like you got fakes on, wraps are the way to go! Plus they are so much better for your nails!!
I use an acrylic/gel technique which is uses foundation gel polish (not builder gel) and acrylic powder. Apply foundation gel, then sprinkle (not dip) acrylic powder over top and then cure. Leave as is or apply your favorite regular or gel polish over the top.

Put my hand down on the table and my nail tips touch the table - so we know length, and 5 1/2 months without a broken nail - washing dishes, shower shampoo --- With about ten coats of polish and no wrap, they look great. Always get compliments,.. I love a silk wrap but don't like to use them or much of anything else but polish on "my" natural nails because they tend to make a weak nail. Everyone's different, whatever makes them look great❣💅🏽

Here in Brazil we use fiber glass in strings combined with gel and some professionals like to use the tips also... The adventage is that you can create a very beautifil and natural thin nail design. We Brazilian girls love more natural looks 😊😊 Thank you for the amazing job!!! ❤️

I’ve been using the precut silks for years to repair breaks in natural nails, especially since I started growing out my natural nails after acrylics. It gives me about a week of protection.
Yeah, back in the 80's, when I was in manicuring school, we used silk on tips and then applied the acrylic. Thank you so much for doing this video on wraps and mentioning the many ways you can use it. Never thought of building a nail with it . All good to know. Your the best!

Back in the 90’s, I had fiberglass nails applied. I have thin, soft nails. The first appt, she applied tips and then built with fiberglass. She actually used strips rather than full nail shapes. Once my nails grew out, the fills were just the strips. I loved them! I prefer the natural look, and these were lovely every time. I’ve never had acrylic nails, but now I do my own nails with gel builders. Thanks to NCE, they are looking better every time😊

My first set of fake nails were fiberglass in 1992. They didn’t survive a week at band camp. Once I got back home, I started going to a friend’s mom who was newly licensed and got acrylic sculptured nails. (I also got a nice discount for being her son’s Uber for band stuff.) She got me hooked on OPI Nail Lacquer. She passed away a few years ago, but I sent my friend a pic of all of my OPI that I have now thanks to his mom. (Currently at 56 bottles.)
Hello Susie, when I first started in school for nails in 1989/90 i was taught to do Fiberglass nails & acrylic the Fiberglass was a strengthener with nail tips because of how thin the nails are with just the fiberglass. I love watching your videos. Keep them coming.
I've been watching Suzie's videos for a few years now and I have to say I am really loving the aesthetic of the videos lately, with the little pop-up comments and the time stamps and everything.
Great repair method. I started doing silk and fibreglass in 1997. The secret to doing a beautiful natural looking silk nail is get it close to the edges but not touching and fibreglass will hold with it away from the cuticle. Use a tip and only one layer of either glass or silk, it works like rebar, very strong. Creats beautiful natural thin nails. You need to use resin with the activated which is the smelly stuff and avoid breathing it in; don't lean nover it. It's toxic to the lining in sinuses with continued use. My partner experienced this. She did silk and glass for decades. I love your programs, so hard to find a tech who doesn't cut corners these days and I need one here in northern Canada. I'm retired now with worn out hands :-)
I love acrylics but can't keep up with the fills 😔.. and my natural nails keep chipping! Just need that little bit of extra strength that nail Polish can't provide.
I also started hair and nails in the late '80s. Fiberglass had just come out and I had been using silk and acrylic for a couple of years before that. Doing silk extensions were super easy if you use a light sprinkle of nail powder between layers of silk and glue. The same with fiberglass. I found that of the wrap systems, silk was my favorite. I was the first and only gel nail tech on Long Island in the late '90s when it first came out. That became my product of choice but I still used whatever medium my clients preferred. I retired from salon work in 2001 but have always kept up my license and continuing education. Thanks for your videos. I really enjoy them!
Hey there! loved seeing this! I am an old school tech from 1993 ;-) I started in acrylics then did most of my clients in fiberglass. I did start out with this activator system but then hacked my own "system" with gels and silk to make really strong, thin nails! Back in those days we wore screw in nail jewelry! I took a 15 year hiatus, now there is acrygel! Whee! I do intend on revisiting to old methods with todays products. Love you lovely, kind spirit! barbee
I love watching her videos. I dont do my nails or get my nails done whatsoever but she has such a calming voice, that suzie is my equivalent to an amsr channel and helps me fall asleep and I alot learn alot at the same time haha
I think fiberglass and silk works great for natural nails to give strength or as a temporary set. But unless it’s done with a builder gel I feel the glue/ resin breaks down and cracks too soon.
OMG SAME!!!!! I had them ALL the time before I got married and after we married and moved, I can not find anyone here that does fiberglass or silk! I used Backscratcher's in the late 80's and a nail tech friend taught me how to cap my natural nails myself. I was thrilled to find it on Amazon and just did my nails this evening. The product (liquid) that's being used in this video looks really thin compared to what I use. It's pretty easy to do yourself.

Lady Stardust the ones I used the resin was thicker almost like a thin builder gel. It was problematic if it ran to the side!! It was wet until the activator was sprayed and it burned terribly if you were too close or sprayed too heavily.

I used to get full fiberglass nails with tips when I was in my 20's. That was around, 19-21 years old. They were my favorite nails. I do Gel nails for myself now, dieing to bring fiberglass back!! Thanks for the nod hun!!
I use to wear the silk wraps all the time back in the 80’s! Lots of layers of glue but they lasted forever! Usually we would do the silk wraps over tips and than coat with glue.
I just graduated nail school 2 years ago and am a licensed Nail Tech. We learned silks and fiberglass in school but only over tips with gel or acrylic over top and as a nail repair. Love the video and yes the activator is harsh ha ha! Much love from California ❤️

I can't imagine that filing that and having it get in your lungs could be good. Also? You can get SPLINTERS from it. Not for me. No thanks.

You can build up the tip by painting a layer underneath I’m a nail tech and trained in the beginning of the 90’s when people wanted an a Lighter healthier version to older acrylic techniques. Some of the products I used were very healthy for natural nails as they contained products to promote nail growth and strength. It’s a beautiful technique to know and be trained in. I trained in Ireland like I said back in the 90’s it’s also a great trick to use if your Client cracks the nail below the nail bed it can save a whole manicure. We did a lot of wraps on brides as forms were used back then to create a stronger foundation, the wraps offered the bride a thinner prettier alternative using tips and laying a second thin strip across the stress point. 4-5 thin coats of resin worked for me. My nails split or break so easily, I have been using something like this for a couple weeks now. Had a nail break way into my finger, so this helps. Don't have glue but it works with nail polish too. I just found a site that sells these, says to use your gel base coat and cure with uv or led light. That's what I've been doing and so far its really helping. Thank you for doing this video, love all of the ones you have done. ❤👍🦋
Deena Hocks if they’re very strong why should they not extend beyond the free edge without a tip? Is it mostly for getting the right shape? To stop the flare out?
@@helloiamem it's because it's nearly impossible to get a "nail shape" in wet fabric. If you notice in the video, it was wonky until she filed it very short. Also, you only need one strip down center 1/16-1/8" from edges and one small cross strip across the free edge. Then two layers of resin, buff smooth them one final layer of resin. Finish with smooth buffer. And .viola

In the very early 2000's I was working at a beauty college and was taught that the wraps were to be used to strengthen (or repair) natural nails, to "wrap" an existing nail. Always seemed a bit fussy to me. Interesting video.
Tina W I would love to see that video, but if you need some advice now this is what I do! Cut a small piece of a tea bag (the paper not the leaves lol) Place a dot of nail glue around the break Place the piece of paper on the glue Add a little more glue to make sure the paper doesn’t lift Once dry I buff till smooth as it can be a bit rough!

I used to do fibre glass in the 80's like you said. It wasn't the biggest seller but a few clients liked the thinness of it. I did them over tips, never tried to do an extension with it. Pretty incredible! :)
hi suzie. i’m shay and i have a very important question to ask you... my prom is next saturday April 13th and i want my nails done. a little background about my nails... my natural nails are really long,strong and super pretty...but a couple days ago my thumb nail broke in half and i had to cut all my nails to the same length now they are really short and i want my nails long for prom cause this is my senior year..so what i’m trying to ask is what should i do for my nails to be long and pretty for prom but still keep my nails healthy so that i can wear my natural nails. everyone, can you please like this for me so that suzie can see it and answer. thank you. p.s. if any of you all have advice for me about what to do with my nails.. that would be really helpful.
Go get acrylics or gel from a reputable salon. If you wanna DIY, try the Kiss Dip Kit. It’s easy and lasts a good while, but may take a few hours to apply for beginners. You could do press or glue-ons, but long lengths are harder to find and you risk popping them off. Glue-ons are painful and damage your nail when they get knocked off too.

Hi Suzie, this is what I have to use on my nails because I'm allergic to acrylic. I use one layer of the silk wrap, then build it stronger with a white powder called ridge filler and glue. Works beautifully. No need for the excessive layers of the wrap.

I remember way back when, when silk was the top tried & true way to save a broken nail. I still use it till this day! Just now getting into gels so I’m not sure about it yet. But I can silk wrap a nail like nobodies business LOL
Also trim the edges a tiny bit with tiny scissors before you glue, harden and strength that tip, so you’re not filing you life away afterwards. And I always sure it up with an acrylic overlay. Back in the day it was either this or a full press on nail. And this was always my preferred nail repair or extension choice.

I love fiberglass nails, I got licensed in 2004 and have been doing it since then! A lot of my clients switched from other nail extension forms to this! I will do this and continue to offer it as long as I can find the product!

I'm so glad you showed us this! My mom used to get silk nails a long time ago, and since she stopped going to that salon I've never seen it done anywhere! I honestly thought I was crazy since I was so little when I was watching the nail tech. She had the sheets where she had to cut each individual nail out, but they always looked fabulous!

I've just found your videos after a nail horror story of my own today. I got my first manicure ever 3 months ago: gel nails which I've had refilled 3 times. I went in to have them removed and the tech PEELED THEM OFF using a metal instrument. It was so painful I had to stop them a few times. After that, they used a file on my nail then sent me packing. I am in so much pain right now and I have to say it is thanks to you that I realized the nail tech must have been untrained...You and the pain I'm in right now saved me from gping back. I'm not sure if you have, but please consider making a nail care video for those of us who are dealing with the aftercare for bad manicures--I've no idea what to do with these paper thin, aching, and bright red nails :I SUBBED
dontcallmefelicia whenever I remove an old manicure, I *IMMEDIATELY* go in with Julep beauty ‘s Oxygen nail treatment. As long as I keep up with it while the nail grows out, I never have a problem. But you may wanna get some bandaids and neosporin on those first!
I went to sallys and got resin and acrylic. For thin nails, pain resin onto nail. Quickly dip into clear or light pink acrylic. File with 100 grit to smooth. No spray needed. Buff

i would recommend good oils over a strengthener unless you do a lot of labor, because most of the time a strengthener will make the nail TOO hard and it will SNAP instead of bend when there's pressure. @simplynailogical has a great video on how to grow long nails, but really it's great for taking care of nails in general.
for a nail oil, mix jojoba oil and vitamin e, those two will do the most for nails specifically (though a good cuticle oil from a store is good too!) and in a pinch, you can use a good quality lip balm like this one www.ulta.com/smiths-rosebud-salve?productId=xlsImpprod12881005.

It seems weird, but my nails were just ripping all over the pace they were so thin, and using this I could literally feel the strength coming back.
I remember being little going with my mom to the nail shop watching her get her nails done like this...in the early to mid 90s. So different and timely.
I did this for my prom nails around 5 years ago!! Everyone was amazed that I did the them myself 😊 I gave myself some French white tips and even added little gems too!
I use to use this method in the early 80’s but I used acrylic Dip powder on top of the glue to give it strength and a smooth finish. This video brought back so many memories for me in my early years of doing nails! Thank you Susie!!!!❤️💅 Your the best.

I too have naturally long nails and honestly, if you want them to look natural and not like you got fakes on, wraps are the way to go! Plus they are so much better for your nails!!
I use an acrylic/gel technique which is uses foundation gel polish (not builder gel) and acrylic powder. Apply foundation gel, then sprinkle (not dip) acrylic powder over top and then cure. Leave as is or apply your favorite regular or gel polish over the top.
Nail'd it .... professional wrapper with bilingual videos. Very good for beginners.

Gotta disagree - I love my naturally long nails. Put my hand down on the table and my nail tips touch the table - so we know length, and 5 1/2 months without a broken nail - washing dishes, shower shampoo ---
With about ten coats of polish and no wrap, they look great. Always get compliments,..
I love a silk wrap but don't like to use them or much of anything else but polish on "my" natural nails because they tend to make a weak nail. Everyone's different, whatever makes them look great❣💅🏽

Here in Brazil we use fiber glass in strings combined with gel and some professionals like to use the tips also... The adventage is that you can create a very beautifil and natural thin nail design. We Brazilian girls love more natural looks 😊😊

I’ve been using the precut silks for years to repair breaks in natural nails, especially since I started growing out my natural nails after acrylics. It gives me about a week of protection.
Yeah, back in the 80's, when I was in manicuring school, we used silk on tips and then applied the acrylic. Thank you so much for doing this video on wraps and mentioning the many ways you can use it. Never thought of building a nail with it . All good to know. Your the best!

Back in the 90’s, I had fiberglass nails applied. I have thin, soft nails. The first appt, she applied tips and then built with fiberglass. She actually used strips rather than full nail shapes. Once my nails grew out, the fills were just the strips. I loved them! I prefer the natural look, and these were lovely every time. I’ve never had acrylic nails, but now I do my own nails with gel builders. Thanks to NCE, they are looking better every time😊

My first set of fake nails were fiberglass in 1992. They didn’t survive a week at band camp. Once I got back home, I started going to a friend’s mom who was newly licensed and got acrylic sculptured nails. (I also got a nice discount for being her son’s Uber for band stuff.) She got me hooked on OPI Nail Lacquer. She passed away a few years ago, but I sent my friend a pic of all of my OPI that I have now thanks to his mom. (Currently at 56 bottles.)
Hello Susie, when I first started in school for nails in 1989/90 i was taught to do Fiberglass nails & acrylic the Fiberglass was a strengthener with nail tips because of how thin the nails are with just the fiberglass. I love watching your videos. Keep them coming.

Great repair method. I started doing silk and fibreglass in 1997. The secret to doing a beautiful natural looking silk nail is get it close to the edges but not touching and fibreglass will hold with it away from the cuticle. Use a tip and only one layer of either glass or silk, it works like rebar, very strong. Creats beautiful natural thin nails. You need to use resin with the activated which is the smelly stuff and avoid breathing it in; don't lean nover it. It's toxic to the lining in sinuses with continued use. My partner experienced this. She did silk and glass for decades. I love your programs, so hard to find a tech who doesn't cut corners these days and I need one here in northern Canada. I'm retired now with worn out hands :-)

I love acrylics but can't keep up with the fills 😔.. and my natural nails keep chipping! Just need that little bit of extra strength that nail Polish can't provide.
I also started hair and nails in the late '80s. Fiberglass had just come out and I had been using silk and acrylic for a couple of years before that. Doing silk extensions were super easy if you use a light sprinkle of nail powder between layers of silk and glue. The same with fiberglass. I found that of the wrap systems, silk was my favorite.
I was the first and only gel nail tech on Long Island in the late '90s when it first came out. That became my product of choice but I still used whatever medium my clients preferred.
I retired from salon work in 2001 but have always kept up my license and continuing education.

Hey there! loved seeing this! I am an old school tech from 1993 ;-) I started in acrylics then did most of my clients in fiberglass. I did start out with this activator system but then hacked my own "system" with gels and silk to make really strong, thin nails! Back in those days we wore screw in nail jewelry! I took a 15 year hiatus, now there is acrygel! Whee! I do intend on revisiting to old methods with todays products. Love you lovely, kind spirit!

I think fiberglass and silk works great for natural nails to give strength or as a temporary set. But unless it’s done with a builder gel I feel the glue/ resin breaks down and cracks too soon.

Brazilians love fiberglass nails and the manicures that does the right job on this technique charge more than acrylic or regular gel nails

As a nail technician, I LOVE doing silk wrap overlays. Sadly, there is not much request for it here in my area.
I used Backscratcher's in the late 80's and a nail tech friend taught me how to cap my natural nails myself. I was thrilled to find it on Amazon and just did my nails this evening. The product (liquid) that's being used in this video looks really thin compared to what I use. It's pretty easy to do yourself.

Lady Stardust the ones I used the resin was thicker almost like a thin builder gel. It was problematic if it ran to the side!! It was wet until the activator was sprayed and it burned terribly if you were too close or sprayed too heavily.

I used to get full fiberglass nails with tips when I was in my 20's. That was around, 19-21 years old. They were my favorite nails. I do Gel nails for myself now, dieing to bring fiberglass back!! Thanks for the nod hun!!
I use to wear the silk wraps all the time back in the 80’s! Lots of layers of glue but they lasted forever! Usually we would do the silk wraps over tips and than coat with glue.

I just graduated nail school 2 years ago and am a licensed Nail Tech. We learned silks and fiberglass in school but only over tips with gel or acrylic over top and as a nail repair. Love the video and yes the activator is harsh ha ha! Much love from California ❤️

You can build up the tip by painting a layer underneath I’m a nail tech and trained in the beginning of the 90’s when people wanted an a
Lighter healthier version to older acrylic techniques. Some of the products I used were very healthy for natural nails as they contained products to promote nail growth and strength. It’s a beautiful technique to know and be trained in. I trained in Ireland like I said back in the 90’s it’s also a great trick to use if your Client cracks the nail below the nail bed it can save a whole manicure. We did a lot of wraps on brides as forms were used back then to create a stronger foundation, the wraps offered the bride a thinner prettier alternative using tips and laying a second thin strip across the stress point. 4-5 thin coats of resin worked for me. I do one tea bag layer, cut longer if I want to extend the natural nail, then do acrylic dip powder over the whole thing. 😉 Works great!

I had some top coat years ago by sally Hansen called “hard as wraps” and never understood what wraps were. Now I know!
My nails split or break so easily, I have been using something like this for a couple weeks now. Had a nail break way into my finger, so this helps. Don't have glue but it works with nail polish too.
I just found a site that sells these, says to use your gel base coat and cure with uv or led light. That's what I've been doing and so far its really helping. Thank you for doing this video, love all of the ones you have done. ❤👍🦋
Fiberglass should not extend past free edge without a tip under it. I exclusively did fiberglass nails for about 3 years. They're Very Strong

@@helloiamem it's because it's nearly impossible to get a "nail shape" in wet fabric. If you notice in the video, it was wonky until she filed it very short. Also, you only need one strip down center 1/16-1/8" from edges and one small cross strip across the free edge. Then two layers of resin, buff smooth them one final layer of resin. Finish with smooth buffer. And .viola

In the very early 2000's I was working at a beauty college and was taught that the wraps were to be used to strengthen (or repair) natural nails, to "wrap" an existing nail. Always seemed a bit fussy to me. Interesting video.

Cut a small piece of a tea bag (the paper not the leaves lol)
Place a dot of nail glue around the break
Place the piece of paper on the glue
Add a little more glue to make sure the paper doesn’t lift
Once dry I buff till smooth as it can be a bit rough!

I just bend the crack alitte bit and put super glue
Once dry file it
Then put clear coat over it

I used to do fibre glass in the 80's like you said. It wasn't the biggest seller but a few clients liked the thinness of it. I did them over tips, never tried to do an extension with it. Pretty incredible! :)
hi suzie. i’m shay and i have a very important question to ask you... my prom is next saturday April 13th and i want my nails done. a little background about my nails... my natural nails are really long,strong and super pretty...but a couple days ago my thumb nail broke in half and i had to cut all my nails to the same length now they are really short and i want my nails long for prom cause this is my senior year..so what i’m trying to ask is what should i do for my nails to be long and pretty for prom but still keep my nails healthy so that i can wear my natural nails.

Get press ons for that day only easy
Go get acrylics or gel from a reputable salon. If you wanna DIY, try the Kiss Dip Kit. It’s easy and lasts a good while, but may take a few hours to apply for beginners. You could do press or glue-ons, but long lengths are harder to find and you risk popping them off. Glue-ons are painful and damage your nail when they get knocked off too.
Dipping powder is what might be healthier for your nails just because the removal is easier and less damaging to your nails

I was gifted a manicure for my 8th grade graduation and the woman who did my nails used this over a tip and then acrylic I never knew what it was thought she did it because it looked cool lmao
I think it is a lot more custom!
Hi Suzie, this is what I have to use on my nails because I'm allergic to acrylic. I use one layer of the silk wrap, then build it stronger with a white powder called ridge filler and glue. Works beautifully. No need for the excessive layers of the wrap.
