Andrea, thank you so much for the wheelchair user content you posted recently, we would ADORE more of that! 20% of the population is disabled in some fashion (obviously not all of those people have wheelchairs) and wheelchair fashion is a neglected niche, we would absolutely show up for it. And seated fasion isn't only wheelchair-friendly. People going to fancy dinners or lectures etc can expect to spend most of their evening seated, too :)

I am not a fashionable person at all (I just wear black jeans and t-shirts and have a handful of fancy clothes) but I’ve been watching your videos and today I went to a vintage store and 4 charity shops and spent £35 on some new clothes. And then tried them on, combined them, used a belt to style them, turned a dress into a skirt and took pictures of myself. Then I put a bunch of clothes I don’t wear into bags for charity shops and organised my new “fashion wardrobe” (including a few things I already have). I also bought the skirt with the shorts underneath with pockets from Halara, but I was planning to get something like that so it was more like I used your suggestion rather than being influenced to do it.
I'm not so brave in terms of outfits, but I'm subscribing. The funny way of your talking and sense of humor are the best 😄 Maybe I will eventually get brave
I liked how she had little voices for her named accessories, and that backing up sound is hilarious. Love it. Love how she mentioned you can be fabulous even during your time of month! Thx Andrea!
Try looking for vintage or vintage reproduction pieces. 1930s-1950s fashion usually features loose skirts, that cover the knees. You'll run into a lot of 'pinup' stuff, of course, just ignore that. Real life fashion around that time was still fairly conservative (knees and shoulders covered for the most part). There should be a decent amount even of long sleeved blouses or sweaters, if that's a requirement for you. There are videos on RUclips with people looking through original catalogues from those decades and those are really good inspiration for how to dress demurely, but still look 'put together' and feminine.
@@berry.x9388 you may also find you enjoy sewing. If you're new, try making a circle skirt, you can make ALL the choices about fabric, color, texture, thickness, opacity, length, fit, etc. It's very freeing. Bonus points: if you research the difference between grosgrain and petersham (grosgrain's edges are straight if you look VERY closely, there's a straight line connecting the edges of the swoops; p Petersham does not have that itty straight bit and is like ")" all the way down) Petersham, which curves gently (it is also used in haberdashery as the hat's band inside the hat which holds the hat from stretching out and helps it rest comfortably on you!), makes an ENORMOUSLY comfortable waistband!!
Hijabi fashion creators serve some of the most chic, exciting looks I've ever seen. My 20-something niece showed me today a dress from a modesty fashion creator that she's buying just to be sure she's respectfully attired at a south-Asian wedding she's attending soon & it's GORGEOUS. The colour, the dreamy silhouette, amazing. She's super excited. Peace to you!
Please Andrea 🙏🏼 more wheelchair outfits ❤ the previous video didn't have many thoughts.. I'm new to.. wheelchairs..or being seated all the time.. Thanks gorgeous 🥰
Hi friend! I'd be happy to be bounced off if you wish ❤ First, the seated form: your torso measurements will be shorter in front than in the back, and your legs will be longer around the seat (between your hips and the backs of your knee, trying to keep this from not posting) than over the lap, then longer over the knee than behind the knee, your arms will commonly be bent or slightly bent. (Think shorter shirts, longer pants, cause they ONLY need to look good while you're seated! Longer sleeves [I mean to get around a crooked arm, not dangling seperate and getting tangled in wheels!]) Shirts and jackets that are short in the front (stopping at your seated lap) are ideal, you can get ones you own tailored to be short in front and long in the back if you have no expectations of not using a wheelchair someday. You can also tuck them into your waistband to avoid them pooling at your lap 😊 Aim for longer skirts because they have to get over your knee and down a bit so you don't have to think about how you're sitting and what shows :) There are sites that talk about how to sew for wheelchair users, terms you'll want to try are "accessible clothing" and "adaptable clothing" even if you don't intend to sew for yourself, the principles they discuss will still be helpful for you. People who custom fit suits for wheelchair users make the arms longer (so they fit a bent arm), add extra fabric at the seat so it skims around a seated form, and make pant legs longer at the front (so they fit over the knee) and again shorten the front of the jacket so it doesn't bunch where the person's lap is 😊 Skirts that are too long, or dangly ends of sleeves, or scarves, can get caught in the wheels. Not good! | A lot of wheelchair users feel flattered in a 50's style tea-length skirt, you don't have to like them obviously 😊 Shirts that allow good movement (not too restrictive so you can self-propel) are a good idea. I LOVED the magpie idea, they would especially flatter while you're moving to self-propel! And, if you're a sewing person, think about pockets (they make a good first project if you're not a sewing person). Ones at the hip that point "up" in a standing person point "back" while you're seated. Stuff falls out, like it always does when someone is sitting down. You can add vertical pockets (kinda like on cargo pants) at the sides of your calves that serve the normal pocket purpose, or think about zippers on pant pockets at your hip, so things don't fall out your pockets and through your wheelchair back onto the floor. ALSO, you don't have to think about if it hurts to stand in heels anymore, (I'm an ambulatory wheelchair user, I don't get to use heels YET) so you are constrained merely by if it hurts to have your feet in them, not how it feels with your whole body standing on them. You may enjoy playing around with heels, see if they make you feel better in the chair or not. You don't have to like them, they're just another option you've got. 😊
If you are sewing for yourself, or having someone make you something: it will be easiest to describe what you're aiming for if you imagine how it would appear when you stood up: the ideal wheelchair-user custom-tailored garment would be baggy at the butt and knees, the front of the skirt should start "too high," your sleeves should be "too long" when your arms are straight, and the hem should be "too short" at the back and "too long" at the front. It would look somewhat odd standing, but *chef's kiss* while seated. If you ever wore such a dress and happened to rise for a photo (if a person were somewhat ambulatory etc) you could hide what the back looks like with a cape or a wrap or shawl etc A lot of wheelchair users like me don't like how their tummy looks while they're seated. If you have such an insecurity, play around with jackets you leave unfastened, or high waistlines, NO belt (can cut you in half, or draw the eye), etc, or a fancy skirt or top to draw the eye away, etc :) Accessories: Cross-body bags are still super cute, you want things that you don't have to worry will fall off your lap while you're self-propelling. You can also do something like use a carabiner to clip your clutch to one of the bars of your wheelchair. Hats are still cool, garments in sparkly or interesting textures, etc. Make sure things can't catch in the wheels, such as a train or dangly bits from the sleeves.
THAT SAID, I am NOT taking into account whether you need grab bars to transfer to a commode, etc. In that case, there are actually brands which sell accessible clothing that has velcro all the way up the back of a garment so it's "go" in, etc, you might be able to poke around those websites and add those features to clothes you ACTUALLY like if you're able to sew :) Adding this as a seperate comment to make sure the rest of the info doesn't get yout'd off the platform shall we say
The key is the accessories! And if black doesn't agree with your skin but you still want to wear mostly black, try adding some color around your face. Doesn't have to be much: a scarf, a necklace, longer earrings, things like that. If you wear makeup, perhaps a more lively blush? That counteracts the "I look exhausted" issue fairly well

would you ever do a video on your phd experience? i understand if it's not something you want to share, but i am interested!
My kind of outfit!
Loved it! It covers the mindful part because most of your outfits are from thrift shops and the demure part is mega covered. Pun intended, but girl you are a step away from a nun dress. ❤
I really love a lot of the outfits that you piece together.
Very cutesy and comfy! I like it!
We think you’re AWESOME! ❤
Love it, perfect for those very days.
So pretty! 😍😍😍
