Her underlying accent is definitely Australian because she falls back into it frequently. If she is German then she at least spent her early years here in Aus. I'm not sure what her "pretend accent" is, but she's adorable and it makes her videos much more fun.

Hey Andrea, I met my husband in 2020 when he could not find work in his profession. He has a masters in music. He was working for Harley-Davidson delivering motorcycles. I was looking for an escape from the lockdowns, and bought my first motorcycle and he delivered it. We were both going through hard times because our spouses had left us after 30 years. He and I were both married for 30 years previously. We didn’t get in contact with one another until about two weeks after he delivered my bike. Then I texted him and we haven’t stopped talking since. We were married in 2022 and are still madly in love.

Such a beautiful story Andrea. I lost my husband of 33 years to an aggressive cancer when he was 54. Your story made me recall the special way we met.. in short a long extended face between us across a very crowded pub bar and a smile from me. He looked like an absolute gentleman with a huge heart and indeed he was. Thank you for sharing your story and for being such a delightful person lighting the lives of others. Love your story! I’m a fellow german lady who lives in the UK. Met my husband at a wedding in Germany. I had a warm secure feeling in my belly when talking to him. It felt quite different from the usual ‘falling in love’ feeling I had experienced before. After 9 month I moved to be with him. We have been together for 33 years now. We’re still in love and enjoy each other’s company, laughing and joking on a daily basis.

Lovely story! In my case it was 45 years after our high school graduation and my now husband came from halfway around the world to attend our class reunion. Somehow he ended up in the same van assigned to pick up attendees. We were already in our early sixties, retired and simply living separate lives on opposite sides of the planet. As I stepped out of my front gate, he stepped out of the van and something like a shaft of light literally hit me that I had to step back inside to gather my wits before stepping out again. He invited me to visit him in Canada and I did. He brought me to the famous Niagara Falls, something I had only read about in the National Geographic Magazine. It was like another door had opened. It's been five years since we got married and life is simply humming merrily along.

My wife and I actually met when we were 12 at a camp. We later met in university. We were friends for years, and shared digs. Then we started having feelings, and we both said it was silly and we laughed about it. Eventually she asked me on a date, and even though we had been best friends forever, we still closed the restaurant down because we were talking. 6 weeks later I proposed. We have been together for 23 years.

Three cheers for your Deutsch directness! I always tell people I met my husband in the pitch dark through a case of mistaken identity.😁 I had been invited to a party celebrating a couple’s engagement, and arrived after dark to find everyone around a bonfire in the backyard. My hostess gave names to the silhouettes sitting toasting marshmallows. One of them was the name of my scuba instructor, so I sat beside him and discovered it was a different man with the same name. Politeness kept me from getting up immediately. We wound up going to that couple’s wedding together, and a few years later got married ourselves. We’ve now been together over 30 years. From Canada 🇨🇦

When I left the train I smiled at him and said Good Bye. A few minutes later, he tipped me on the shoulder and asked me out. Not that I understood a lot of what he was saying, my English wasn't that good back then - I am also German!
We married exactly a year after we met. He is my best friend, has been for almost thirty years.

I love this!! I have adhd and it made me terrified of university, because I struggled so much with school as a teenager. Finally at 36 I went to university and studied archaeology, where I met some classmates who knew about a dig happening in France, did I want to go? I did. On this dig I met one of the local volunteers. I saw him and thought "Wow, I didn't know they made them this tall in France!" (he's 198cm, or 6'5, I'm 5'11, 180cm) He immediately noticed my neurospicy self and proceeded to woo and win me. Now I live in France 😊

      @ninjabgwriter 6 месяцев назад +47

That's awesome! Congratulations! I have ADHD too, and the bit where she was talking about her husband's neurodivergance made me smile so much, how she talked about something that is classified diagnostically(!) as a 'careless mistake' as instead a way his brain functions naturally being beautiful stroke of luck that led to them falling in love. Also I'm a dyslexic who loves reading with terrible handwriting as well, so I can totally see something like that happening with me.
Also, I think it's really cool that you gave college a shot - even though you were intimidated - to follow something you're passionate about, and that it led to so many good things. I'm also intimidated by college (I ended up being delayed several years in graduating high school), so it's always so encouraging to see other neurospicy cool people trying and succeeding, even if it's hard sometimes. You're awesome, and I hope you and your SO have a long and happy life together!

Thank you for sharing your story. Not only is it wonderful that you met your partner there, but also, as a young adult with adhd still struggling with that "trying to graduate delayed high school", it's inspiring and comforting to hear of older folks that persevered through the intimidation and succeeded. Dare I say it makes me hopeful.

My friend's grandson was in the barn I was in and kept disrupting my station all day...this guy then came into the building and noticed the child misbehaving so calmly got him to be helpful. He was the child's Dad's friend so knew how to deal with him and seeing how amazing he was melted my heart. We were both too shy to ask each other for numbers but the child's Mom saw our chemistry and made the guy call me after getting my permission. And we lived happily ever after. ❤

Met my Aussie hubby on a vacation to California. My mom had late stage dementia. My sis in law was working with a client and had a free hotel room and an expense account. I went to get a break from caregiving and met a crazy, sweet Aussie at a $5 a drink happy hour. 10yrs later we’re still going strong. PS. Hubby’s dad eventually developed dementia too and it was so good to help him navigate it until his dad’s passing.

We're now married with a 3-year-old.

Adorable. I met my husband at student rec center at college. We somehow discovered we both liked a rather obscure cartoonist and started talking about his books. I also discovered that he worked at a shoe store down the street from my house. I boldly asked him out on our first date, which was semi disastrous because we got hopelessly lost trying to find the theater. But I pestered him for a 2nd date. 32 years and 4 grown children later, here we are. I'm still glad I boldly persevered. Happy for you too. ❤

I met my husband in the military. Our paths crossed a few times during basic before we officially met at our first duty station. We happened to be assigned to the same unit and officially met my second day there. We spent the day chatting a bit as we were doing an assignment, going our separate ways at the end of the work day. Later that evening, he knocked on my barracks door and asked if I wanted to get dinner. I said yes and we've been together 20 blissfully chaotic years now.

Such a sweet story!! Congratulations and a long and happy marriage to you two. Met my husband when I was getting a physical to join our local National Guard (American, and music) as a way to use my degree. Anyway, he was drawing blood that day and it never hurt! And he knew my brother, worse yet, lol. We had similar "adventures" to yours and married in 5 months. We were married 39 years, just, when he suddenly died. We were happy though and I wouldn't change it for the world.

    What a cute story!
I met my husband at church. To begin, I live in the USA in New Mexico. The people who became my in-laws moved to the town I grew up in 1989. They had two daughters my age, two younger daughters and a son. We didn’t know they had an older son who was already grown up and in the Army. So the girls and I became good friends. The dad was the new minister of the church my family attended. The oldest girl and I graduated high school in 1991. That Christmas, I was home from my first year of college. We went to church and I saw this guy in a uniform. Oh. Wow. And he saw me. He heard me sing. We smiled at each other but we couldn’t get close enough to introduce each other. But I heard his name. So we had Christmas and I decided to have a little New Year’s party. My mom and I went to the grocery store and I saw the minister walking in the store just as we were parking and a man was with him. It was the guy in uniform. Well we met up with them in the produce and I invited him with his sisters. That afternoon I saw him drive past my parents house. He picked me up for date a day after the party…the rest in history.

I love your love story! Sometimes its the most random situations that we find our soul mate! I met my soon to be husband at the grocery store I was working at. He came in to do an exchange of Chunky Soup for his mother. I pointed to show him the aisle and after a minute a co-worker had a return to go back on the shelf. It just so happened, it was soup LOL I strutted down that aisle with my best walk hopping he would look at me. When I arrived back at the counter he went through some one else's check out. I didn't think I would see him again. About 20 minutes before my shift was over he came back and he told me that my smile was stuck in his head and he couldn't stop thinking of me. He gave me his number and I called him on my way home that night. We spoke the whole 2 hours! LOL and as you said the rest is history! That was in 2014. To this day, I will always have a soft spot for Chunky Soup 😂 Many blessings to you and your love! May it always burn bright ❤✨️

Fate is so crazy how that happens! My father helped his friend move to cyprus, and my father liked it there so much that he decided to retire to cyprus, which he did alone, after some years. He spent a lot of time researching specifically where he would live there. I came to visit him and in this country, in this village, in this bar where he would regularly visit with his expat friends, is where I met my husband! We have been together 10 years now. My father's friend was an American who would come often to our country (UK) but was based in Belgium and had he not decided to relocate from Belgium to cyprus, none of this would ever have happened. Had I not had to drop out of 6th form because I was hospitalised, I wouldn't have had the time to visit my father in cyprus. There were so many roads that didn't lead here, but here we are.

Love this! I had a close chum in design school, studying web design, whom I picked up at his family’s home at the holidays. I was introduced to a tall, well-dressed chap wearing a professorial corduroy jacket with suede patches on the elbows, my friend’s older brother, who was visiting from law school. I met him again a month later on New Year’s Eve.
As my friend was totally uncooperative, I snooped to find his brother’s address. I had a coffee roaster at the time, so after a couple of months I sent him a box of assorted coffee for final exams with a note. He had planned to move across the country but changed his plans to come back to his home state to take the bar exam. We went on our first official date in June and have been together happily ever since, for 22 years.

This is so wholesome! I actually met my partner at uni, we were both doing a PhD but I was a year ahead. We circled around each other for months, scared to make the first move because if things went badly, being in the communal office would have turned really awkward. At the same time, we were always trying to find occasions to be close to each other (like taking a coffee break casually always at the same time, discussing philosopher's STDs and even trying to come up with a paper to write together).
At some point, I asked him out for coffee but he didn't understand that it was a date, so there was no follow-up. Not good.
BUT! I persevered and asked him out again, this time for dinner and he said yes and this time he understood it was a date. We've been together ever since.

Andrea, this story of yours is really adorable, and I trully love your german straithforwardness!
But after reading some more comments to your lovely story, came to the amazing conclusion that the Universe truly likes to make peoples lives interesting. My eldest son went to study in Great Britain, South Wales (we are from Portugal) and after dating several girls, not english nor welsh, but from France, Israel, China, Czech Republic, Goa/India, finaly got in love with a beautiful girl from Sri Lanka. They got married in Sri Lanka but live in South Wales as he's now a British Citizen and teaches at the University...
And the other day we were commenting how different is the way we look at life when we came from two different cultures, and talk a diferent language, either because we decided to live in a diferent country or because we got married with a person that is from another country. So they talk to each other in a different language from their mother tongue - my son is portuguese but he decided to learn cingalese in order to talk to the members of his wife's family who do not speak english... but they knew each other in south wales so they talk to each other in english... so lovely❤❤❤

I met my husband when we were kids. Summer of 1992. I was 7 and he was 8. He chased me every time he would see me. We were fans of different NFL teams and so we had a little rivalry. Then when we were teenagers, we became good friends. We grew up, married other people, but always remained friends. We began to date in our early 30’s. We’ve been together for almost 8 years now.

    Serendipity! Beautiful story!
My husband and I both have ADHD and also walk full speed everywhere. Our first passing / seeing one another was almost running into each other's face. He rushed around a corner without fully paying attention and so did I. We were preoccupied with work thoughts. We stopped just short of smashing into one another and each apologized. There was a pause. We looked at one another and I felt a ridiculous electric charge pulse through me. Starting in my stomach going up to my neck and back and down to my toes. Weird. Very weird. In hindsight we felt like we were meant to cross paths. Ours felt like reconnecting with an old friend after a very long time. I missed him instantly after that first passing where we only said "sorry!". We continued to rush past one another doing what we do...stealing glances when we could. One word eventually turned into full conversations until we decided to go check out a band that we both heard of recently. We were having a great time at the show and after the backs of our hands brushed against each other a few times while moving through the crowd , he grabbed my hand to hold it and I held it back. Again - electricity! That is all she wrote and that was that.

Such a cute story! I feel like mine also has to do with specific situations that could have very easily changed my life. I went to college for music therapy. I changed my major to social work half way through my junior year and got a job working with kids that had disabilities by bringing them into the community to work on goals. I took one of these kids into the town's public library where my now husband worked. He knew the child and so he came over to talk to us. I took the kids I worked with to the library often since they loved it there. Ryan and I would chat often. Took him 8 months to ask me out, 3 months to propose, and then we married after only a month of being engaged. Married for 12 years now :) If I wouldn't have chosen that college that put me in that specific town, not changed my major, not taken that job, not walked into the library I might have not been married to my husband today.

The story of my husband and I is similar in so many ways: the Leo/Scorpio combination, the advice from friends about the 3 day rule (which I had also never heard about, but apparently is a thing in Australia too).
We met during a night out with friends, and I noticed his eyes first. Turns out we had mutual friends and we started seeing each other more often in social settings, and one evening, he asked me out, so we exchanged numbers.
We will be celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary later this year, and 26 years together.

Such a sweet story! I met my husband through a friend. I was only 1 month into being 21. My ex and I broke up 5 months prior and I was NOT looking to get into a relationship. I was working and going to college. I was busy. But one of my friends who worked at the same nursery school I was working for said that she was taking a programming class in college and the assistant instructor was really cute and single. She was engaged and she said “you’re single! Let me give him your number!” I said “absolutely not! I am too young and I’ve been too hurt and I’m too busy.” 3 weeks went by and her and I ended up having dinner after work that Friday evening. I hadn’t changed clothes or anything. I literally left the nursery school and met her at the restaurant. I had my uniform polo top on and a pair of old trousers and my hair was in a crazy ponytail. No makeup, I was exhausted. But she said “don’t get mad but I invited that guy I told you about. He’ll be here in 10 minutes.” I could have choked her! I ran to the bathroom, washed my face and put some lipgloss on, as if it would make a difference. 😂 But he walked into that restaurant and sat down across from me and the minute our eyes locked, that was it. We will be married 18 years and together 20 years this October. He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I was only 23 when we got married and he was 32 but when it’s right, it’s right. And I never got along with guys my age. I have very niche interests and I was basically born as a 78 year old Nonna. He acts much younger than I do. 😂 But I sure love him. He’s my best friend and my home. ❤

After the game, I went to my car. He left me a sweet message with his phone number. I called the next day. Over the next 6 months I fell head over heels in love. It was a sending marriage for both of us. The strain of a blended family priced too much. He left me 18 years later. That was 7 years ago and I am still not over him. Love is funny, but certainly not fair. Communication is key. I wish everyone reading this passion and romance, but more importantly... Commitment. That is what will get you through the hard stuff. The problem is nowadays people run into their soon to be significant other and they just don’t look up from their phone and they missed them over and over so take some time look around take in your surroundings and don’t forget to smell the flowers along the way and you may just bump in to Mr. or Mrs. right congratulations for paying attention and letting nature take its course😀

That is the most wholesome story I've heard all week. ❤ I met my husband online, but he was attracted to how I presented my genuine personality. So it's always good to show your genuine personality. 😊

    American here.
My husband and I were actually members of the same church community in a tiny town, but we never met, because he was away at university when I started attending.
Eventually I signed up to go on a group trip through our church to Israel. My husband, while finishing his last year at university, was notified of this trip, and signed up as well.
I saw him once on a group call, but we didn’t interact or think anything of each other at first. We all met up at the same airport, but again, in the business of it all, never really interacted.
It wasn’t until we were all touring in Israel that we actually started to talk - on my end, just being friendly (I was going through a lot of personal stuff back home so wasn’t looking for “trouble”), but from his perspective, he said he intrinsically “knew” that I was special to him, and proceeded to look after me throughout the trip.
While touring a cave/tunnel, I was at the back of the group, and he intentionally kept behind me to make sure I felt safe and kept my path well lit for me. At another location, when another tour group was making me uncomfortable, he put himself between us to serve as a buffer.
Our first real conversation was actually at the Dead Sea (the lowest place on dry land on Earth - therefore he likes to jokingly say, “It could only go up from there.” 😂)
After the trip, he went back to university and graduated shortly after, and then came back to our little community, where he asked if I would like to go hiking with him after church on Sundays. I agreed, and called him out and asked his intentions right away. He said he was interested, but had just gotten out of a rough relationship a little while ago, so wasn’t ready to start anything serious just yet. I, who had also had a bad experience recently, told him I liked him, but I wasn’t interested in being in a relationship at all. I told him he deserved the best, far better than me. He asked if we could still be friends, and I said sure.
From then on, he would invite me over when he was hosting board game nights with his friends, and we started sending long letters in the form of text messages a couple times a week - nothing romantic, just talking, nerding out, sharing ideas and what was going on in our lives.
Finally, one game night, we were playing a game where we had to work together and plot against the other players in secret. The tension between us was suffocating. Then, at one point, he winked at me from across the table.
For those who have played Super Smash Bros. - you know that moment when your damage is already really high, and then you get hit by that special hammer that sends you flying off the screen? Yeah… that’s what that wink did to me. I was done for.
Finally, as the night was closing, I was the last to leave, and he said to me, “I don’t care if I have to watch you marry someone else. I the will support you. But I KNOW you are special to me and I want to be a part of your life.”
    Game. Over.
So. For his birthday, I wrote him a love/confession letter as an email. I, being insecure, wasn’t actually ready to send it - I forget how it happened, but somehow I accidentally sent it and was absolutely mortified! (I think I pressed enter meaning to type, not realizing it was going to send instead! 😱)
    He, however, was delighted.
We then spent every waking moment together for the next two weeks grilling each other to make sure we were certain this was a good idea and that we were compatible - world views, spirituality, morals, values and priorities, interests, life goals and dreams, etc. - and just spending time together in general, because we agreed, this time we weren’t interested in dating someone for “fun”. If we were doing this, it was with the intention of getting married someday and taking our relationship VERY seriously.
Finally we concluded it was a good idea to try moving forward with each other.
And we were married just a few short months later. There was no fancy proposal. No ring. No getting down on one knee. We were out for a walk and discussing the subject and said, “Let’s do it!”
He bought us both wedding rings and we were married! I surprised him with the coolest honeymoon suite anyone could ever imagine. And here we are now - coming up on our 5th wedding anniversary. We own a home, he works for an awesome company and I stay home to take care of everything else, including our now 1 year old, who is the cutest, sweetest child I have ever laid eyes on. 🥰
We’ve been through a LOT of ups and downs - but he has stood by me through it all!
Somehow we are actually closer now than we were when we first started, happier, and still going strong! He is my very best friend!
Long story short, I had to go to the opposite side of the planet and to the lowest point on dry land to meet the man I’d marry, who figuratively lived next door. lol 😂 🤦‍♀️

    I love your story 😊
I met my boyfriend in college (we're common law, not sure if we want to follow marriage as a tradition so aside from that we're basically husband/wife). It was frosh, me and my group of friends merged with him and his group of friends and formed one big talking circle. him and i were standing across from each other and he cut across the circle to introduce himself to me 🥰 we dated for 1.5 years in college, broke up for 4 years, was living across the country by then. He texted me unexpectedly to see what i had been up to (this was 2 weeks after telling someone i think i let my soulmate slip through my fingers). I had just happened to have already booked a flight back home to visit friends and family the following weekend so we had a date, he confessed still being in love with me and i confessed back, but i had to fly back to "new" home. A few months later the hotel where i was working had a fire on its roof and burned down of all things! Construction work lol NOT MY DOING!! but i took it as a sign to return home home and him and i have been together ever since, its been 7 years now 😁

I met my roommate of nearly 7 years at a library, gave her my number- and didn't hear from her. We met again on a dating app months later and she admitted that she'd been coming down with the flu at the time and lost the paper over a very feverish weekend! I'm so happy we managed to reconnect because she's my favorite person. We dated for a year, broke up, and plan to keep living together for the rest of our lives. When one of us got a serious partner, he moved in with us rather than separate.

Hi Andrea, love your story. I live in the US, small town in Connecticut. I met my husband in the 3rd grade (we were 7, I believe). He moved away in the 4th grade and we didn’t see each other until High School. We dated for two years while I was in college and were married soon after. We have been married for 42 years now. ❤
