In today's video I'm explaining how I shop because whilst I mainly shop second-hand and vintage, I do occasionally buy new clothes. I will also be doing a fashion haul and review items I got gifted by Halara.

You are my favorite fashion channel hands down 1) I went through design school. You understand line, textures and things like that 2) I too am a magpie 3) Even though I'm older your advice still translates 4) Kitties and bunnies
The reason why I watch you is because you are normalizing a more minimalistic wardrobe (with maximal magpie shine) I love seeing how you can use 1 piece in many ways. I also use thrifted and vintage pieces and need inspiration to use them in modern ways. Love that about you. Of course you will buy new now and then! But please keep doing what you are doing, you are a big help for us who cannot afford new clothes.
I don't think her style is minimalistic. And that minimalism needs to be "normalized"

Hi Andrea! I do enjoy your videos, but I couldn’t watch this one because of a “pulsing” in the editing style. I have sensory issues, and the way the camera-view would pull in slowly but then suddenly reset back (repeatedly) had a disorienting rubber-band effect for me. Possibly for others too? But I’ve learned to recognize specific things that affect me. Thank you for all the fun you share in these videos- I know a lot of time and energy must go into making them!💖✨

I don't have sensory issues but it irritated me as well. I could see it working for a shorts video, but for a video of that length, it's really exhausting at some point and pulls your focus away from the video rather than engage it

I would love it if you did a video series styling people with different body types than your own.
I feel like since you’re so slender you have options for styling outfits that doesn’t always work for people who are larger or have a more athletic build, so I think it would be really cool if you showed us some ways of styling outfits for different body types! 😊
I love all the white/cream pieces you bought, especially that flouncy top!
What if you watched one of the hundreds of excellent accounts out there, created by people who actually have the different body types themselves? They are creating content just for you specifically, and would love your support. How well could Andrea demonstrate any other bodies with her own body and clothes, anyway?
But what if we loved Andrea and would like to be styled by her anyways? ❤
@@marycwilliams I’ve gone looking for other accounts with other body types and wasn’t able to find anyone interesting and creative in the way I find Andrea.
It was 99% frumpy, soccer mom looks with stuff bought off SHEIN.
If you have suggestions for other accounts I’d appreciate the recommendations.
As it was I just assumed Andrea has friends who maybe don’t have the exact same figure as her, or the exact same wardrobe, since also people at home who are inspired by her are working with the clothes they have, which is not necessarily identical to what’s in Andrea’s wardrobe.
Plus plenty of people/accounts that focus on fashion style people other than just themselves, so I don’t think my suggestion is odd/out of line.

I'd say to keep the blue flower shirt, and pair it with something like a cream colored sun hat or even a white statement necklace to lighten it up on top. It's very pretty, and I quite like seeing the darker pieces styled.

I’d keep that first Halara top (taupe w/ the blue flowers) goes so well with those pants, and very understated elegance.
If I could afford it, I would honestly buy that Halara dress in every color it came.

I didn’t like the blue flowered top. That is, until you paired it with the trousers. I say keep it.
I loved how you stated that as pretty and cute the last item was, the price and the fact it was not breathable was my same reasons for not keeping. The price was very much s case of “ouch” way over priced. I love how you find ways to make the things you loved to work for you and the fact that your thrifting clothing is a huge plus for me.
Years ago I had to convince my friend about thrifting clothes for herself, she was brought up to believe they were not good at all. It was only when she was helping me to down size Moms wardrobe to only items that fitted Mom since she had lost so much weight due to her illness.
There were so much that was being donated to our local thrift store and all of it top quality. She had been led to believe only worn out clothes were donated. After we took all of the clothes to the thrift store I took her through the shop looking for items that were cute but made of natural materials. She was shocked to find some of her fashion icons clothing items in the shop and all for $15AUS she just had to buy them when they were also in her size. 😹😹 now she cannot go past any charity or thrift store she walks past without popping in to see if they too have something that she loves. Her best find was a handbag that was not a knockoff but the real deal worth thousands of dollars marked at only $20AUS it needed a bit off loving to fix it so she brought to me to do that for her.
Yep she is well and truly hooked on thrift stores, especially those found in the rural areas she gets her hubby to stop at them when the go travelling around Australia as they have the best finds.
This one find changed my teen daughter's mind about thrifting: Often, the makers of high quality leather goods will revialize them for you! My daughter got a pair of Doc Martins for $5 at a thrift shop ($250 new); we dropped by the retail shop to get new laces and they informed us their shoes have a lifetime warranty! The clerk popped into the back for a few minutes and returned with not only the correct length of laces, but the leather cleaned and glowing--at no charge! A great brand 😊

I liked the brown & blue top, I think you should keep it. It looked great with your trousers and would look equally nice with jeans and/or a denim jacket. I also liked the little pink synthetic top. Would be a cute top for spring before it gets too hot. I agree that you need fabrics that breathe, but if it's not too warm I'd wear it.

Love your channel. I do have a concern with the black top with wonderful pink plaid sleeves. There seems to be no black in the pink fabric. That is creating part of the issues. Also the location of the sleeves. I think they should be more on the shoulders. And I don’t understand the ties. It looks like someone took 2 wraparound skirts and sewed them on. I’ve been sewing longer than dirt. I recommend you find a white top and ask the tailor to switch the sleeves. Or that one friend that sews! Keep sparkling.
I thought someone took two aprons and added them to the black middle. The 'ties' are the stripes. I can see where you got the wrap around skirts from. Not my favorite.
Lee the top, it really looks nice with the pants. Add a bright scarf at the neckline to brighten up the color for your face.

The KM trench is absolutely lovely, I'm looking for a pink or cream trench for the summer, that's out of my price range though but it's just that bit different and such a lovely shade. The Shipwrecked skirt and top looked lovely on you, you really suit white and cream. Not fussed on the blue mesh skirt and the Strawberry top is way overpriced, I agree.

I truly adore you. When you talk about how you shop it reminds me of how I shopped when I lived in NYC. I had an incredible wardrobe, also mostly vintage or second hand. Since moving to Denmark, though, my wardrobe is incredibly sad and pathetic. You do inspire me even if your outfits aren’t always something I could pull off. Thank you for such great and enjoyable content!
All of your reasons to buy new are valid. I would also throw in shoes into the “only buy new” category. Secondhand shoes tend to have conformed to the previous owner’s feet, and they tend hurt my feet. Buying thrifted shoes that make my feet bleed aren’t worth the price I paid. On the other hand, when I buy new shoes, I tend to keep them until they’re worn through.
The dusty blue floral top was pretty, but I felt that it's so delicate-looking, it would probably go better with less pronounced eye makeup actually. If that's not your style, I think you won't miss it if you return it!

I think the top with sleeves would be better with shorts (or maybe pants)- would be a better contrast since the sleeves are already flowy like a skirt. Curious how that would look!

When watching shows like say Yes to the dress and the girls comment they want to have that feeling well that's what it is. Putting on a dress or an outfit that has you feeling giddy and twirling!! My favourite item was the kitty at the end! My favourite clothing item was the Karen Millen trench coat - the style and colour looked stunning on you.
I think that first top (dark with blue flowers) is reeeeeally pretty on you! But! My one rule when shopping is ‘When in doubt, don’t buy it’ so if you are hesitant on it, return it and get your money back! Not worth keeping an item you will not wear 😊

My favorite thing about you reviewing Halara is that they are a brand that carries a wide range of sizes and it is extremely difficult for non-standard sized folks to find inexpensive, cute clothing. It's even harder for us to find it in the same places where standard sized clothing is found. Thank you.
