I thought about it for gravel work but most people agree that a wheeled skid is a little harder to get grade because they bounce a bit more than a flat track. I personally have no experience grading with a wheeled skid.
In my opinion no. There's 6" or so of rock before you get to the fabric. I'd be more concerned with pulling the large rock to the surface than dealing with fabric. When this needs work a quick tailgate spread would be the best bet.
Yes I've seen them. I worked for a company a while back that had one and we never used it. I think rollers give a lot better result than a large plate because the contact area at the bottom of the drum is so small and puts more pressure down. I've considered a roller for the skid as well but renting is pretty easy. Just need to make sure the costs are covered in the bid!
For stripping the grass off? It's pretty similar. I've timed myself both ways and calculated square foot per hour. To me the mini ex is a little less jerky and you can make nice clean edges and control depth easier. With a skid sometimes while pushing you can dig too deep on accident.
Haha I get what the yard sends sometimes. I think he did a good job with what he had. The dense grade around here is really sticky when it's wet and doesn't like to spread at all. The good things about it being wet though is it compacts better and is less dusty. Thanks for the comment!
Love the excavator scraping the topsoil, gravel being spread on the road, skid steer grading out gravel! Great video!
Thanks Aaron! I knew you'd like this one!
@@NealORussa yes indeed... this is right down my alley.... and your attention to detail with commentary was excellent! Thank you sir!
Rewatched the process! Love the content and video....
I absolutely love this video!
Beautiful job well done curious how much you spent and rock and materials
@@robertgonzalez8419 thanks for the comment! This was around 9k total I think?
Would you prefer to use a wheeled skid steer over tracked for doing gravel work?

Does having the fabric down make it difficult to regrade the driveway in the future?

Have you seen the plate compactors they have for skid steers now?

Didn't you have cement trucks roll over that gas line during the foundation?
They had about 60' of wood laminate mats laid over the pipe line to cross with with trucks during construction.
Driveway turned out beautiful!
@@CPVet55 thank you so much! I drive by it daily and it's still looking great even after all the rain and wet winter we've had.
Would skid steer be quicker than excavator

You need a different truck driver.
