I feel like the judges don’t realise HOW BIG that cover was, like INSANELY VIRAL. It made sense for her to perform It, and the “quirky” songs were to hook the judges and audience in so they would be interested to see her raw talent. She’s a legit singer, of course she had to pull out the stops and show that so people would take her and her career as seriously as possible. She’s an artist before anything else

There are only four judges, there's not room on the panel to have a judge that specializes in each type of talent that is featured on the show. You'd need a professional singer, musician, dancer, comedian, magician, ventriloquist, danger artist, animal trainer, etc.
Sometimes I am really embarassed for Germany honestly. As a German myself, I can promise you, we are not all like that. I am really mad that Heidis FIRST comment about her performance was "well you look great". That is not what it is about and it honesty makes me so furious.

The way Madilyn sings is very special, and she has a beautiful talented voice. However, with Jimmie, even if he sings slow songs, he has one of the greatest and most beautiful voices I've ever heard, so if he wants to sing slow songs, props to him.

Madilyn sings in Audition...Simon's grumpy soul lights up and he can't stop the positive comments. Madilyn sings Titanium live and Simon is glowing with an awe-inspired look. Seriously never thought I'd see Simon glow like that but Madi's voice is... quite spectacular 👌 👏 😀 👍 😍 🙌 👌
I feel whenever a person comes on the show, each judge takes a certain aspect or quality of them and just focuses on that. Simon mainly loves her vocals rather than her quirkiness and creativity. Howie focuses on the opposite. These judges often forget that people have range and can switch it up and don't have to always stick to one genre or style.
AGT is like a high school talent show. They're not really looking for superstars which Madilyn (and Lindsey Sterling) obviously is. They just pick and choose in the moment without really evaluating the entire package (that goes for The Voice too btw). Imo Madilyn is much bigger than AGT and none of the judges, with Simon possibly being the exception, really get that.
Well additionally, isn't the point of a "talent show" to show how talented they are? Which would mean showing what they're truly capable of, how dynamic and skilled they are? I feel like the judges should have noticed how different this was in a positive way, because as you said it shows range!

I was blown away by this performance! I had never heard of Madilyn before, and no back story was necessary to absolutely love how she sang this song so differently than the original version (which was great, itself), defining the term 'making it your own', and vocals sounded beautiful and unique. i love her voice. a technical constructive criticism i would give her is that she uses a LOT of vibrato unless shes sustaining a note. its too much vibrato however her ability to hold those notes and have nearly perfect pitch are incredible

I first found Ms Bailey when I heard her "Titanium" video. Her rendition in this clip shows how far she's come and matured into her role as a vocalist. That said, I really love her rendition of Ed Sheerhan's "Shape of You".
That was a beautiful performance! Madilyn's in such a tough spot. If she performs the quirky, social media comments songs then people won't take her seriously as a singer. By the same token, if she performs covers, then what made her unique isn't being showcased. Really tough spot. I think the only way forward is for her to blend the two together-to perform songs using people's comments that feel like they are records, as opposed to being novelties.
I'm really confused by these comments. Never has anyone preformed an original song then went into the voting portion sang a cover and got criticism from judges. I've seen people get through with an original song, then cover a song and get praised by the judges. The song didn't get her through, her talent did, she should be judged on singing ability. This was a flawless performance, they didn't take notice that she auditioned playing a guitar, she performed playing piano. She plays more than 1 instrument.

Honestly I must say that I’ve watched so many talents in AGT yet this is one of the best. I love how Simon based his answer by her talent Heidi and Howie should have done that as well. This show is meant to find talent not just for entertainment. This is why I love The Voice more because the judges are turned around so they don’t base it of on how you look it’s the talent and they give you tips and all that if they didn’t turn.
She’s so talented but she should have ignored Simon when he was being a hater because he’s the only one of the four who thought you were outstanding. See, you should have listened to yourself as you’ve always done and just kept being unique. Haters are always the useless minority.

Madilyn sings Titanium live and Simon is glowing with an awe-inspired look. Seriously never thought I'd see Simon glow like that but Madi's voice is... quite spectacular 👌 👏 😀 👍 😍 🙌 👌
I feel whenever a person comes on the show, each judge takes a certain aspect or quality of them and just focuses on that. Simon mainly loves her vocals rather than her quirkiness and creativity. Howie focuses on the opposite. These judges often forget that people have range and can switch it up and don't have to always stick to one genre or style.
AGT is like a high school talent show. They're not really looking for superstars which Madilyn (and Lindsey Sterling) obviously is. They just pick and choose in the moment without really evaluating the entire package (that goes for The Voice too btw). Imo Madilyn is much bigger than AGT and none of the judges, with Simon possibly being the exception, really get that.
Well additionally, isn't the point of a "talent show" to show how talented they are? Which would mean showing what they're truly capable of, how dynamic and skilled they are? I feel like the judges should have noticed how different this was in a positive way, because as you said it shows range!

Madilyn needs to sing red ribbon! Its gonna be the perfect emotional/original/personal song. She did a comment song already and it's unfair of the judges to expect that to be her entire act. This song was a smart choice for her performance. Now we just need red ribbon to tie it all together :)
Yeah it's smart of her to mix things up. And she already said she wants her original content to be known so she will definitely be singing some originals 😌
I do hope she'll sing one of her originals next time. I do get why she sang Titanium this time but I can kinda see why the judges were expecting something original again. (the only judge I fully agree with is Simon though)

Heidi makes no sense. I'm so happy to see Madilyn doing the song that made her a sensation. I don't personally enjoy covers, but this one made it to my personal playlist a couple of years ago. She blew me away. What a talent! This girl deserves the best.

I was blown away by this performance! I had never heard of Madilyn before, and no back story was necessary to absolutely love how she sang this song so differently than the original version (which was great, itself), defining the term 'making it your own', and vocals sounded beautiful and unique. Thank you for sharing your amazing, unique voice and talent with the world!

i love her voice. a technical constructive criticism i would give her is that she uses a LOT of vibrato unless shes sustaining a note. its too much vibrato however her ability to hold those notes and have nearly perfect pitch are incredible
I agree, it's almost like it's not even vibrato, it's just a lot of quivering/shaking or something. I think she'd sound a lot better if she just sustained the notes.

I first found Ms Bailey when I heard her "Titanium" video. Her rendition in this clip shows how far she's come and matured into her role as a vocalist. That said, I really love her rendition of Ed Sheerhan's "Shape of You".
That was a beautiful performance! Madilyn's in such a tough spot. If she performs the quirky, social media comments songs then people won't take her seriously as a singer. By the same token, if she performs covers, then what made her unique isn't being showcased. Really tough spot. I think the only way forward is for her to blend the two together-to perform songs using people's comments that feel like they are records, as opposed to being novelties.

I'm really confused by these comments. Never has anyone preformed an original song then went into the voting portion sang a cover and got criticism from judges. I've seen people get through with an original song, then cover a song and get praised by the judges. The song didn't get her through, her talent did, she should be judged on singing ability. This was a flawless performance, they didn't take notice that she auditioned playing a guitar, she performed playing piano. She plays more than 1 instrument.

Honestly I must say that I’ve watched so many talents in AGT yet this is one of the best. I love how Simon based his answer by her talent Heidi and Howie should have done that as well. This show is meant to find talent not just for entertainment. This is why I love The Voice more because the judges are turned around so they don’t base it of on how you look it’s the talent and they give you tips and all that if they didn’t turn.
She’s so talented but she should have ignored Simon when he was being a hater because he’s the only one of the four who thought you were outstanding. See, you should have listened to yourself as you’ve always done and just kept being unique. Haters are always the useless minority.

Heidi dissed her for being quirky last time and dissed her for not being quirky this time (she seems to be “surprised” and “not expecting” everything this girl does. Weird reactions....hmmmmmm.... Howie liked the quirky and seemed to ignore her beautiful wife.
