I miss the steamvac series. It was probably the only good residential machine you could buy. I know the Bissell’s had a very weak motor. They only put a single stage motor in them. I wish Hoover would’ve just kept making parts for these. I hate it how almost every company just forces you to buy their new junk. I will say it is common for people to use the wrong soap in carpet cleaners. Something like dish soap will easily foam up in the motor and ruin the bearings. I’ve never really seen the motor itself actually go bad unless if it was continuously used with water leaking in the motor.

I agree, these were decent machines for what they were. Bissells have better scrubbing power but not enough suction where it matters the most like Hoovers. Personally, I'd still hire a professional than buying either machine but if I had to own any portable upright cleaner, the Dirt Devil Platinum Force/Royal Procision is what I would've wanted to have.

@@panasonicvac4036I agree with both the Bissell big green and the Rug Doctor being a bit too expensive. Ever since I rented a Rug Doctor, it just showed me how the other carpet cleaners I had left behind. When I was going to buy one, the person on the phone said that she hasn’t sold a mighty pack in 3 years, same with the wide track. I think this was a very bad decision for Rug Doctor since that there was nothing wrong with their old design. Thankfully I was able to find a mighty pack that had very low hours on it. It was also refurbished. I find it that you can actually use a Rug Doctor or any other carpet cleaner professionally by unplugging the suction hose and just go over your carpet with the solution and the brush, then go over the carpet by rinsing.
