I want to thank Jay for not having any commercials on his site. Also for the wonderful car and bikes. I've learned more about vintage machines than I ever did as a mechanic. Great job Jay ,
No commercials no RUclips :) something has to pay for it or maybe Obama could make this a government site and it would be free ;;;lol
We know Jay's got the jack but his clothes looks like one of us. I think its nice of him to take us into his garage and share what he has with us. Thanks a lot Jay.
The Fiat 500 Abarth is a really sweet car.
Bye bye 69 likes hehehe
wow. they bolted on 80 hp on a 1.4 liter without opening it up, all bolt ons. thats pretty amazing.
and its under $1500 to boot. Thats cheap
Ya, it's an add-on ECU and some turbo and intake pipes.....That's why it's so cheap.
$700 gets you 40hp from an add on ECU that comes off when you take it to the dealer. i'm not sure where the other 40 hp comes from
@@netrioter makes me just want to look for abarth instead of mini s :D
netrioter its actually $1200
Jay is the man living every car guys dream thanks for sharing Jay!
what i like the best about your channel is that you cover any and every class of vehicle...not just the high priced high end toys...i loved your coverage of the steam engines also..
240hp with such a light weight car would be a perfect fun daily driver. Pretty fast too.
Used to race a "Bug Eye" Sprite and loved just leaving Mustangs and Camaros in the corners.....they would wheel me in on the straights but I would again just embarrass them in the corners, passing inside or out as needed. Great handling is far better than incredible horsepower blastong to a corner, hold on, braking and and then repeating it again. The greatest racing I have ever experienced!
I live with someone that hates these.
Therefore, I live with someone I hate.
83j049733rfe4 Lol
I hate that someone too. Love my abarth
Bought my 2nd Abarth in Sep. The most fun you can have
Really? Sweet.
Was going to get one last year but I got caught up with my other rides. They definitely came along. as far as mods avail
Jay's vid actually helped me choose my Abarth, I can't be happier with it! I find it cool that he likes Miatas too, I love my 90
If your 2012 Fiat 500 just has a small sunroof it's it okay to go through a drive-through car wash with it
Have a 2017 Abarth 595 competizione. Fantastic car!
There is a special magic driving Abarth cars: You feel the power and the speed in this little rocket! If you you drive 200 Km/h with a ordinary Porsche or Ferrari on the German autobahn, it is nothing special. But 230 Km/h in an Abarth... you have the feeling of double speed. But most fun with Abarths is driving them on roads in the mountains.
I respect Jay for the fact that he does not just waste money on clothes and invests it and donates it.
Road Race Engineering worked on my Plymouth Colt about 20 years ago and I was very happy with the results.
im debating getting a small 2 seater car. but seeing this video makes me wanna get one.. suped up tho
hatchbacks are fun to drive. mine weighs 1900lbs and with the suspension mods handles like a go kart!
Mine handles like a skateboard - and I don't mean a longboard either I mean a real 52mm wheel skateboard! I can slalom thru all the speed bumps in the parking lot, it's a blast. Handles so well it has an illusion that the back wheels are turning too. Love it!
The Bluetooth headset is so the guy can listen to the producers feeding him answers to Jays questions. Lol.
Seats custom made for a Japanese hunger striker...LOLOLOL!!! 11:11
+copperlocks1 You can get potato coach size seats.
Jay Leno doing a handbrake turn. That just made my day.
Congrats road race motorsports, I'll be getting my parts for my 1.4t dart through you guys, keep up the good work
Jay Leno needs to have a big track day with all his favorite cars
I have done a couple of mods to my base 500 with Robert Tallini and Road/Race--and got to drive that Abarth--what a hoot. The Cold air and timing advance has made a significant difference in both power and milage!
Since when did Jay Leno's garage attract so many designer critiques? It's a show about cars, not about whether denim is cool or not.
These look like a ton of fun. Didn't realize there was a good deal of aftermarket stuff for the Abarth seems like a decent tiny pocket rocket.
How to mess with everyone.
get the performance package and a exhaust that nullifies sound to a Fiat 500 level and smoke every ricer that messes with you.
lambusado THATS A FACT-SLEEPER girl car looks-have some mustangs CRYING up to 500 feet:)
***** How do you know it was this?
Did you prepared it before ?
shut up
rdjohnson5 then you must not be a ricer lol
@@rj_d10 lmao sure
That horn breaks my ears every time I watch these videos with headphones at the end
NICE! I used to frequent Road///Race for my DSM performance, glad to see they've gotten the spotlight from Jay Leno!
This car is the perfect example of how, just as with High-End Audio, Wine, etc. you DON'T need to spend crazy money to have something light up your Soul. I had a 1987 944s years ago ( great car ) that wasn't 20% as fun as the ABARTH I bought :-) CIAO !
good to know I drive the same car as Jays wife. I love it great stance with 16x8 and 215s
That white one is stunning. Cant believe people are getting 300-350 whp in a 1 ton car.
those FIAT 500's are the most fun car to drive, drive one for yourself and see how it will put a smile on your face, even a standard 500 are fun
I love my Abarth! Planning to install a piggyback ecu though it doesn't need it!
fun go cart ! would love one
I know this comment is 6 years old but you can get one now for like 9k with only 60k miles
@@davidv6408 would be awesome but I'm about $9k short !
@@IchibanMoto Whenever in The Netherlands, By Coincidence, You are always welcome to come drive my Abarth ❤
@@WWG1WGA24-7 that would be badass awesome!
@@IchibanMoto the offer remains dude 😎❤
I have a VW Golf twin turbo HPA R32 and a Fiat Abarth sitting next to each other in the garage. Both balls to the wall FUN that feel like slot cars on the road!
I love when people talk about how a car placed in it's class, but never say how many entries were in the class.
Leno knows his value.... " geeez, I don't even want to ask what these seats cost!"
I own 2 Fiat 500s... traded my BMW 325 CI on one of em... most fun cars I have owned.
I think the little silver car in the background is a Shogun. It's an older type Fiesta with a drivetrain from an SHO Taurus stuffed in the back seat.
he does own a shogun and it is a beast.
240hp with stock internals!!!? It's all bolt-on? Holy Cats! that's nutty power for a car that size. I always thought the stock 160hp Abarth was a fun little rocket, that thing must really be a nutter to drive :-D
do you like nuts?
There are tuned Abarth's with 300 hp or more… :D
but 240 hp are not bad at all!
Those Fiats are such cool little cars, they get good mileage and they are fun to drive its a win win situation plus they are really cool looking.
I have the somewhat detuned Abarth, called the Fiat 500 Turbo Sport. It's a scream to drive and it always wins over the people that I have given a ride! Very Vivacious and I feel like a million bucks whenever I drive it! Oh, I usually average 40mpg, and I don't drive slowly to do it!
Jay Leno is the ultimate car guy!!!!
michael schumacher has thesecond most impressive car collection ,as impressive as jays with the moderns but jay has history , antiques and musuem pieces.
Love the ShoGun in the background! Subcompacts are the way to go for economical fun.
Leno is awesome!
the black 500 with the red streamer have so many blimps
Even the base model of the 500, which is my daily driver, would absolutely shock you in how quick the car feels, despite being stock, and automatic. Cannot overstate the impact of weight with regard to the fun factor with these cars....
The Abarth does make for a sweet toy. I'm surprised they can turn up the wick that far without touching the internals, but I'm sure it makes it a huge lot of fun.
I would love to see how one of these does on Pike's Peak. Nice cars.
Jay on the seats: "Original race driver of this was a Japanese hunger striker". LOL
Makes noise when he put his foot in it, but not too bad when just cruising
Insane little beast!
do a 500 twinair next! nobody has tuned this awesome engine yet do it! XD
i see these little cars around and always wonder if they are fun to drive. Thanks for giving me my answer Jay, one of these little guys might be taking me up and down Parley's on the way to work.
Now I know where to go buy performance mods for the 500 Abarth I'm getting next week. Thanks Jay.
In Italy the 1.4 turbo goes up to 450hp, Fiat Uno Turbo, Punto GT and 500 AB little monsters to pump.
Don't know about you but I am tired of Leno waving his automobile genitalia in my face.
thank you . Jay for mentioning the situation in the Philippines in your show tonight.
Jay is really a car nut, so cool to watch these vids
Most race seats are available in various widths.
Very cool, especially the whistle turbine
I love how he pulls a bootleg 180 burn out all while keeping a straight face like no bfd!!!!!! baaaaahahhh!!!
Scoty ABML it was like watching a cartoon haha
I recall the old days of here’s Johnny and how you just melted right into the show. I liked the J. Leno show better than the Johnny Carson show just a tiny bit. You were the best person to fill that talk show and Johnny knew it. Getting past my memories of history I just wanted to drop a short note, the Abarth is rocking my doors off, I want one, badly. Where might a man located in north Georgia find a dealership within a 2000 mile radius of lets say Atlanta Georgia, Atlanta is really dead center of Georgia take a few inches here and there. I’m retired, I have a little extra money that my wife doesn’t know about, I’d like to surprise her on my birthday when an old friend sends me a an Abarth sports model. I want one just like the black one in your show. My dad was a car guy, I was into the, as we called them in the day, souped up Chevys and Fords. I had a beautiful 64 Chevy super sport with the high performance 327, I also had a 69 Chevy nova SS with a 390 special order 4 speed transmission. I didn’t order it, I worked as a farm hand down the road from where I grew up and I saved every single penny for 4 years and then I paid cash for the 69 nova, it was used of course but by only 4.5 years. It was a hot car, however it would have never out ran the 64 Chevy SS, I don’t think, it never really seemed to have the same power as the 327 High performance in the 64 impala. I had to sell them both due to some family planning issues and that’s the end of that chapter of my life. Today I am happily retired and I’m with my high school sweetheart still today. We both love cars especially cars from the 50’s and 60’s. I’d love to see and test drive one of these cars, it reminds me of what my dad would have bought, he had a 1950 Galoth, I think I spelled it right. It was imported from Germany, I think. Dad loved German cars, we had several VW’s, a Porsche, a VW dasher, a VW rabbit and many more I can’t recall right now. Dad was a soldier in WW II and Korea, he seen a great deal of stuff that made no sense when it came to the propaganda the states were hearing. Even though he hated hitler he loved the German craftsmanship in terms of cars. Whenever you do another show regarding the Abarth please tell us where one could be purchased. I’ve searched google and I am finding no dealers.
Thanks
SRP
Never mind the above message as it pertains to the Abarth by fiat, I finally got the spelling right and google did me right by showing hundreds of links, thanks for doing the show. I plan to test drive and most likely buy one, very soon. I’m retired, I think I might be able to convince my 3 daughters and my son that I deserve it regardless of what my wife thinks, we can get over the disagreement because we have 37 years experience of getting over such things as disagreements.
Jay, this is what I am talking about, an ultimate toy!
looks like alot of fun
It´s the blow-off valve that´s make the "psssttt" sound not the wastegate, Jay should know that.
Bet Jay had his modded to be like this after this video :) its 80hp more powerful than his and lots of nice mods ;)
Love the stance encore wheels on the black car
This reply baffled me-
Jay: "This is Robert Tallini, how you doin' buddy?"
Robert: "How you doin'."
Yeah man that really made sense.
Its called being nervous. Human physiology, when someone is excited and nervous they will often repeat what someone else says to them.
Yeah, I know what you mean. We've all done it before.. Just seemed kinda funny on a show like this
it is actually normal, I say it all the time. no point in saying "im good how are you" all the time. how you doing has just become another "hi"
At 4:02 "...steel rotors..."
AFAIK nobody uses steel for automotive rotors. Metal rotors are near-always made of cast-iron. It has much better thermal stability and conductivity than steel.
All those mods then a heavy giant moonroof?!
we have not seen an update on some of your project cars in a long while. i would like to know how your lotus is doing. i hope that you will post an update soon. by the way i really like these videos. i show them to people who only ever see your late night show and they are impressed with your love of cars.
That fiat is pasta'd out
Jay, thank you for your fabulous content! When I was in HS in the mid 70s my friend and I experimented with several Fiats we owned and followed Al Cosentino and Faza. You no doubt know of Al but it might be cool to weave some perspective regarding Al / FAZA into a video. My apologies if you have done that and if I missed it. Thank you! Gary
I work at a pizza company that owns 6 of these little cars to use for delivery. I can’t tell you how much fun these things are to drive. Especially on the twisty roads, even just going speed limit.
Love how they can't say Fiat in the US.
Not a car brand worth pronouncing correctly.
spire107 What you just said is virtually like saying Ferrari isn't a brand worth pronouncing probably.
Practically anyone who isnt Italian can't say it properly
TheDutyPaid I love how you refer to pronouncing something differently as not being able to pronounce it at all.
How do you pronounce?
wow 240hp from 1.4L
There are tuned Abarth's with 300 hp or more… ;)
but 240 hp are not bad at all!
In italy a mad owner put 390hp from this 1.4l, search scara73 on facebook.
That air intake is a piece of art..
Pipes coming from front bumper are to the intercooler.
Thanks Jay!
when late 2014 comes around jay should get a BXR motors blade XTR.
Seats for a Japanese hunger striker hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!? Jay, you're THE BEST!!!
That is the meanest Fiat I have ever seen!
Wow how cool is this car! I luv it.🔥💪❤️
link of that guy that sells that stuff
roadracemotorsports.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=16_123_124&sort=20a&page=2&zenid=e9o2db40s7j93nr7d1ljj4q0i3
"The original racecar driver for this was a Japanese hunger striker..." LMAO @ the hilarity of that casually placed joke. Super funny.
Jay! Get yourself on an episode of ROADKILL by Motortrend!!! Those guys are awesome and love to wrench on cars!!! Would be a great episode...
Love my abarth
i have a 595 ... doesnt say fiat anywhere ... i did see some maserati stamps / stickers
...well?
I love these little beasts.
My Abarth is great, too!
I had my 2014 with the madness 500 piggyback, de-cat, and upgraded waste gate actuator up to 142 mph according to the speedo. not sure that 135 speed limiter is accurate or may that was on the earlier models.
I think that guy is gonna film a Boost Mobile commercial after this.
I love when the guy with Jay, at 8:52 video stamp, says, "Bringing it back to a level that it's capable of and was built to do maybe". Wait a minute "Maybe", maybe the extra power will work, maybe it won't? How about, reading the fine print of the warranty when buying one of these to see if "Maybe" is covered. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't?I miss the old Abarth spider 124. I have a Spider 2000 (Made with metal, up until 1985). Bring back the "Europa Spider" Super Charged
This is a great channel,
Thanks again soooo much Jay.
Wow, you can really tell that these cars are not small, when the seats are lowered, like this one.
I'd like to see a Mini Cooper built up like this.
Torque Steer Is Fun...I must have missed that memo. XD
Lovely little car
Very cool video.
