Trying to imagine living in that area of California and seeing these cars casually roll by every so often and just shrugging it off like " Ohhh, there's Jay again "
That exact thing happened to me several years ago. I was driving near the Burbank airport ( which is where his garage is ), and pulled up alongside someone driving an open cockpit steam-powered car. The driver was wearing a leather helmet and goggles and i was trying to get a picture and realized "oh that's Jay Leno!" lo!
@@PapaBear816 No, if you're around Austin you're ok. But come on, what is going on with California these days? I last visited in 2017 and it's changed, for the worse. Not the gas prices, the homeless/vagrants/beggars. Geez....it's disgusting. I hate to see a child out on the street. Where are the social services???? This is why the Conservatives make fun of Cali, they exist in this states, but not like this
The thing that's so cool about Jay Leno is not just that he's got the most amazing car collection, it's that he can find something to appreciate about virtually any car. Doesn't matter if it's a super-rare Duesenberg or a 1971 Toyota Celica or a Hemi-powered Dodge Coronet or some fantastic custom like this.
This is a Hot Rod travelling at 30 mph. It just doesn't seem right to go so slow in this thing but I'm really happy to see this 1800 ci creation actually running and driving so smoothly! What an incredible a feat of engineering. Jay brings out the kid in all of us!.
Even though old footage.......... Jay and Dennis having a blast as always.........how cool would that be to hang out with Jay driving the tank car.........👍👊
Ok, but seriously, I found this way more cool than I thought I would. I'm just impressed by how NICE it is, and how well everything came together to create an actually GOOD car. Excellent work, @ everyone who put this thing together. :D
Jay never did a video of this incredible machine, which makes your video the definitive work of record. 500 years from now automotive historians will be watching this trying to comprehend how the hell this car came to be.
Shot on DV, 4:3 Standard Def - 1080p would look *wrong* on this thing. I'm watching it in colour, the colours of a beautiful California day, but I'm seeing it in flickery black and white :-)
Used to visit Michaels Leeds garage in Santa Cruz. Believe I saw the original tank engine during one visit many years ago. Another visit Michael was working on converting an old fire engine into a hot rod. It's a fun garage to visit. Met Grubbs one visit too, he was working on another art project, laser cutting glass.
I see Per Blixt's fuel injected 300D sitting unrestored in the background, that is so cool! They must have filmed this shortly after it arrived at the shop
Jay when I was in the Marine Corps I worked on the M60 tanks, they had four oil coolers two for the engine and two for the transmission 25 gallons of oil for the engine and 25 gallons for the transmission
That's incredible. I work on regular passenger vehicles, so those fluid capacities are mind blowing. There's nearly a 55 gallon drum of oil just for the engine and transmission.
I wonder if Mr. Gage is the one who reply's to the RUclips comments; He is the kindest, most down to Earth and the most intelligent car enthusiast on RUclips!
The camber on the front wheels looks like its positive, Was this intentional or just the video messing with me? Love your stuff with jay, always cool to see what he has done!
Jay suddenly looks a lot younger? Is this old footage? By the way: you must be living a dream, I admire your work and love your style, you make us dream.
I love how one the crew cars one of those saturns that not one survives today. Remember my mom had one and always thought it ran funny. She then got a 2004 Saturn Vue that had a Honda engine a AWD. That thing was actually pretty powerful, I guess only a couple years Honda and Saturn had the deal
Rediculous ride. Gotta appreciate Jays's love of cars. His knowledge is profound in the specs and history. Who would of thought this 2003 vid that gas prices ($1.65) would be $4 more today.
I know it is now called the Tank Car because the engine came out of a M47 Patton tank, but to me this will always be the Blastolene Special as I came to know it when it was built more than 20 years ago.

That'd be nice to see, except for the "living in California" part. Ugh....for Many reasons
@@guytansbariva2295 Better there then Texas.

Still on every Saturday morning on Motor Trend at 8:30 ET!
Even though old footage.......... Jay and Dennis having a blast as always.........how cool would that be to hang out with Jay driving the tank car.........👍👊
I made some poor life choices, that's for damn sure!
Tanks for Posting!
Ar ar
One of the most incredible rides I've ever seen Jay and great show Dennis.
Ok, but seriously, I found this way more cool than I thought I would. I'm just impressed by how NICE it is, and how well everything came together to create an actually GOOD car. Excellent work, @ everyone who put this thing together. :D
Very clever working out the heating and cooling like that.
Jay got his swagger back & lost the wrinkles, powerful vehicle indeed
This was shot back in 2003

Unbelievable, Jay's living the life, work hard, save your money! Make your passion your job, never work another day! Gravy!
It's a really beautiful and big car. cool!
To be invited to Jay Leno's garage, let alone drive one of his vehicles ...
This footage has to be nearly 20 years old lol such a cool hot rod though!
Shot on DV, 4:3 Standard Def - 1080p would look *wrong* on this thing. I'm watching it in colour, the colours of a beautiful California day, but I'm seeing it in flickery black and white :-)
“recorded in 2003” so yeah lol
I feel old. Time goes so fast
That engine is music to my ears!!
Great segment Dennis! Love every visit with Jay.
Me too!
This is priceless!!! Randy is so awesome! Thanks Jay! I can't believe Dennis Gage made you wear a matching jacket. 😅❤

Awesome. Don’t remember much of this from JLG videos with Dennis visiting. Suspect this is mostly unused raw video. Great to get to see.
the hot rod is out of this world omg
It's September 2022 and this is an awesome car. Thanks
Really a beautiful vehicle!
I see Per Blixt's fuel injected 300D sitting unrestored in the background, that is so cool! They must have filmed this shortly after it arrived at the shop
2003 is when this was filmed. Tank car has turbos on it now. They (gale banks) added them in 2009 along with fuel injection.
The tires on the rear look like super single semi truck tires. 455 50 r 22.5
Very cool ride.
He says they are garbage truck tires...

I would love to visit Jays garage
Incroyable tankcar, merci Jay, merci dennis. 😁
For anyone NOT watching this on a home system with a subwoofer... my god, are you missing out. That engine!
Dennis's giddy up go-impression when that bitchin motor starts is priceless!
I remember seeing this amazing build at a show in portland oregon in the early 2000's those carbs are ginormous.
Well it seems to be registered in Oregon. Good chance it was built in the Beaver state.
Car show cinematography sure has come a looooong way since this was shot
Yeah, 20 years makes a big difference!
I have to ask how many craftsman work for you in all your restoration shops. Would love to see videos of the Leno shops in a days working.
Craziest car i have ever seen on jays garage
Jay looks like he just woke up he’s still funny even half asleep 😴🥱😝😂😂🤣👍🏻✨
Every thing you do Jay is very interesting . I hope every thing is well for you Sir.
The camber on the front wheels looks like its positive, Was this intentional or just the video messing with me? Love your stuff with jay, always cool to see what he has done!
Probably the wide angle lens.
Nightmare inducing! Wow!
👍👍👍👍
Like a nickle plated Batmobile 🦇
Who would have thought I'd have seen the Monopoly car in real life.
That's what it looks like! I was trying to think of what it reminded me of lol
Jay is the kind of car guy that everyone should be "you wanna give it a go " he'll yea I do.
It's so surprisingly quiet and docile on the road.
Perfect grocery getter! Love it!
I was gonna say.... this must be a really old video because it has turbos on it now.... just saw this was recorded in 2003. Lol.
i love that rig.
MYCLASSIC
WOW just awesome :) I like ....
15:50 What a monster
16:20 Looks like a tractor in hot rod style from afar.
The most impressive thing in this video: That exquisite mustache.
So FREAKIN cool!!
And the amazing thing is he hasn’t spent any of his tonight show money it’s all from his comedy tour.
That's true.
It's like driving a semi tractor without a trailer.
Yes it is!
Hey Mister, does it have a Hemi, it certainly does.😁👍👍
So this is the "full-length" version?
excellent
Very Nice !!! ..... Colors ???
When will my office be built?
Jay suddenly looks a lot younger? Is this old footage? By the way: you must be living a dream, I admire your work and love your style, you make us dream.
You can tell by the aspect ratio being square this is old footage hope that helps!
Thanks! This was shot back in 2003
@@MyClassicCarTV awesome! I love this channel so much

ROFL Jay Leno out here cutting regular people off on the highway in this contraption.
when you start it, it sounds like its ready to kill. which is fitting considering its got the heart of a warrior so to speak. lol
Rediculous ride. Gotta appreciate Jays's love of cars. His knowledge is profound in the specs and history. Who would of thought this 2003 vid that gas prices ($1.65) would be $4 more today.
Beast of a car
An air cooled Hemi tank engine it's a beautiful beast.
Jay talks about Arnold Schwarzenegger wanting this car.
I think he should gift it too him.
nice i loved it
I never managed to unlock that beast on GranTurismo4
Its a blast. I would run over all the hondas and toyotas with it
HEMI ! and aircooled like the 917

I miss the "will it do a burnout?" part of the show.
All those Randy Grubb cars are so cool.
I've wanted to buy his book but I'm kind of cheap... Still, is nice to see videos of them.
Grubb is a bit of a blabber mouth, but do not be cheap
It is so absurd, that it becomes hilarious!
So the thing is registered in Oregon. Does that mean the original build was done there or easier to license than in CA?
Originally built by the Blastolene Brothers in OR.
21:18 Dennis - Sht its way up there!!
Lenos driving school, this joke is out of his element
I hope Jay uses Leaded Fuel.
These will be cars for tnr feature. They so cool
Why does it have an Oregon plate?
Because it was originally built primarily by Randy Grubb of the Blastolene Brothers who lives in Grants Pass, OR.
@@MyClassicCarTV Thanks, I thought maybe DMV wouldn't allow it to be registered in California.
I bet you could run that green waste management garbage truck off the road with that car
I'd like to see a new video of the car now that it has twin turbos.
Que motor forte
Closes I will get is the Hotwheels version . 😂
Jay, who styled your hair for this video? I have always loved how casual you can be. Amazing car!
grandpa munster would be proud heh :)
80 miles with 35 gallons. Imagine how much gas the army needed to win the Second World War.
This would of been for the Korean War. But yeah, you're right.
Lucky they had a camera car following behind since I didn't see any brake lights working
Jay wear safety specks when driving, a bee will knock your eye out.
MR. MyClassicCarTV Thank you so much !
Your cameraman needs a camera with a gimble! Other than that! Excellent!
3500$ for a rebuilt diesel engine of a industrial size and vintage? who knew 2003 collecting could be so easy
👍
17:45 is that a supra?!?!?!?
I know for a fact a guy with a miata will find a way to put that engine in
Jajajaja
What's funny is he was scared by a cobra.
Wow, both have some color in their hair...
IT'S HAS MORE SQ/FOOTAGE THAN WHAT I LIVE IN .
Is this the same type of car Jack Johnson would ride around in ?
Most definitely!
