- Jeremy Wade is a renowned adventurer, author, and television host who has spent his career exploring some of the world's most remote and dangerous waterways. He is best known for his show, "River Monsters," which follows him as he tracks down some of the largest and most elusive freshwater fish on the planet.
In this video, Jeremy ventures to waters closer to home in search of a summer Tench. Tackling Ham Green Lakes near Bristol, Jeremy talks about his love for fishing and how it all began whilst immersed in a quintessential English estate lake that is no less than 300 years old. Fishing alongside Hassan Khan, the pair rekindle their childhood fascination with the humble float and enjoy a session under the warmth of the sun whilst trying to outwit the often finicky and stunning Tincas that Ham Green has to offer.

🔺 Ham Green Top Lake
Ham Green top lake is a historic 300-year-old estate lake, 2.5 acres in size that is lily bad lined. It stocks a variety of fish species, but the majority is Tench and bream, with a small number of old carp. This lake is perfect for float fishing on long summer evenings or chucking a little feeder out.
🔺 Ham Green Bottom Lake
The Ham Green bottom lake is a smaller lake, with a good head of carp, boasting 7 swims across a 1.5-acre lake. It’s stocked with approximately 50 carp along with other fish such as Tench and Silver fish.

This isn't just Jeremy wade using sweetcorn for bait..... This is Jeremy wade using M&S sweetcorn for bait 👌
The tench couldn't resist it 😅
This is one of my favorite videos to watch when I'm feeling stressed now. The music, the setting, listening to Jeremy talk and just have a chill day fishing. Very peaceful. Also Hassan is just such a kind soul that makes you feel like you're chatting with a friend.
That is such a great comment to read thankyou!
About time Jeremy made a course fishing series.
Beautiful lake! Nice to see Mr. Wade on a more relaxed fishing trip.
We where working down on the portway one day under the suspension bridge and who randomly walks along .. jeremy wade ! Absolute top bloke 😎
My Families lake. So pleased people enjoy it
Very relaxing Video :)
Jeremy is just a nice guy
It’s a Mitchel match. Great reel.
can't believe Jeremy Wade is using an old Mitchell reel, so cool! Now I want to know if he's using the low capacity spool?
Lovely video. The reel scared most the fish away! And what's with the shot ?
Wow river monster!
My son was fishing the lake at the time you were filming, we went back down there today with my youngest and had plenty of fish out but the tench where still hiding, there's always next time.👍
We will certainly be back, and Ham Green is one of our favourite places to spend a session. Good luck the next time you are out!
Geeeeeees I remember when the top lake was rammed full of lillies and it had some big old carp in there......not sure if they made it as talking 30yrs back.....Nice to see the place looking tidy and open as a fishery again, may just have to pay a visit 👍
Its such a beautiful lake and had the honour of fishing the bottom lake that day. Also had my pb carp from there
Yes it is a stunning lake, and what a place to have a PB from! Good Angling, hopefully we see you on the bank soon.
@@gocatchfish would love the chance to fish with the team
Jeremy, my dad and Rex Hunt taught me how to enjoy fishing :)
Dont forget matt hayes and john wilson 😋
@@mathewking7466 im not sure if ive ever seen them , im from the netherlands 😁 rex hunt and jeremy wade were on the discovery channel alot of the time ✌️

The legend
I'm going Ham lakes soon so let's see
M&S sweetcorn for Jeremy but an old mitchell reel! Nice.
Boys you did good. This was great
Cheers Martyn! Tight lines for your next session!
My biggest point here is Jeremy's reel. To my eye, that looks like an older Mitchell 300? Which is the first reel I ever got my hands on (my dad had 2 or 3). I still have one to this day and these days I live on the other side of the world.
That one thing made me smile.
What are the best tactics to use on these lakes during the winter?
It all depends on your intended species. For the tench many anglers will scale down and use maggot or caster on fine float or feeder set-ups. The carp anglers do very well on bright single pop-ups and the pike often come to sea deadbaits!
I can remember going to bed as a kid with the foat burned on my eyes when i shut them, I must have been staring at so hard for hours 😂
There was a massive fish kill on here about 8 years ago. Was shocking the amount of pike, tench, silvers and carp I saw on the surface was heartbreaking. The guy was called Bill at the time who had it and didn't get airators in after being advised to do so and they all bellied up. Would be lovely if this lake was back to it's former glory because there were some stunning old carp in there.
It's certainly is!! It's a stunning fishery with some amazing fish to angle for
What’s the difference between corn and sweetcorn?
They say that whatever the weight for a male Tench goes, then the females in the lake can be double that size.
And Ham Green Lakes look stunning 8-))...
@Vito fishing Of course. Hence the flag avatar 8-))...
Born there. Not living there anymore.
No fishing from the pontoon as the lake map states... unless your name is Jeremy 'oh the catfish tried to bite me' Wade..
😂😂
nice video man! love your chanel! l upload fishing videos in my chanel too!
Yawn
