This is a User's Guide for the Sony a7CR / a7C R. For those that have an a7R V, the menu set up is going to be very similar. There might be a few differences but not many. Think of this as your user's manual. A place you turn to when you need to know how to set your camera. In this video, I show you how I would set up a brand new Sony a7CR if I took it right out of the box. It's a tutorial for how to set up your first camera with all the settings from shutter speed, to aperture to ISO.

even though I do not own A7CR I appreciate the fact that you spend the time to help those who do have A7CR.

A mutual friend of ours was saying how much hard work and time you spend working in the studio. It’s videos like this that really reflect that effort and are appreciated!

One of the small things I like about Sony is in the File/Folder Settings you can set the folders to the date format and with each new day a different folder gets created. Makes copying/organizing your files so much easier. Thanks for the video.

Greetings. So glad I found this early on after I bought my Sony A7CR. The manual and books I found are overwhelming. Thank you so much for your time and clear, concise overview. Really appreciate it. Plus, having lived in Memphis in the late 90s and early 2000s, I really appreciate the Saliva comment. LOL. Well done sir.

Quite a tour de force! I pick mine up tomorrow. Had watched a few of your videos during the camera/lens research and now this one. Very much appreciated both the content and the humour which I am now dialled into. Regards from the UK.

Fantastic tutorial on the A7CR! I just upgraded my Nikon D800 system from 2012 or so to the A7CR and what a powerhouse in such a compact and lightweight camera. This was an exceptional video and I really appreciate it! Thanks so much for sharing!

Thanks for making this video. I decided to rent a Sony A7CR to take with me on vacation. After watching your video, I was able to customize the settings on the Sony to match those on my Nikon so that transitioning from one to another was seamless. There’s no way would have been able to accomplish this ( in only a few days) without your video. Thanks again.

Allowing it to shoot with no lens is what you use when you put a fully manual lens with an adapter. This is what I do when I put my old Nikon primes in it. Since there are no electronics on these lenses, the camera thinks there’s no lens.

1:16:57 Airplane Mode. Those who were paying attention would have noticed how the battery percentage was going down. This was mainly due to the fact that he was tethered to an external monitor. Another battery “drainer” is the wireless connectivity of the camera. I strongly recommend switching on the Airplane mode when not using the camera’s Bluetooth system.

Would most of these settings be compatible with the a7rv? I know the A7rv has an extra dial and a button or two. But for menu settings be similar?

Switching from PAL to NTSC is important in order to get all FPS settings! For instance PAL only offers 100fps while NTSC offers 120fps.

Great video but the most important part to me, setting custom shooting and controls went very fast. I can't figure out how you got to certain menus. I do appreciate this video, but with it went a little slower toward the end.

Release without lens is important for using old or 3rd party manual focus lenses without digital contacts! Don’t ignore it like „nobody needs this“!

This is not user guide. He is just reading the menu items. If somebody wants to see what some settings does, you have to google it elsewhere. This is the third video I've seen on this channel and all 3 are useless. The guy has a talent for making useless videos.

Pls don’t tell people how they should or shouldn’t use their camera for the sole reason of looking dumb, if you really care about looking dumb when taking photos then you should work on yourself before working on photography. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Excellent and so very helpful. I am a Nikon shooter (45 years plus) but wanted a high res and smaller camera for an upcomming trip to Scotland. This is my first Sony and your video has made the trasition really easy as for the set up and understanding the menu system.
