DUDE, THANK YOU! I've been reading my camera manual over and over but some of the really basic parts weren't covered. This was my jump from a Pentax K1000 SLR to mirrorless and the leap was bigger than I expected. I watched other RUclipsrs to get an idea, but many would tell you to adjust something but not why, and wouldn't cover each setting. This video was the first that made it all make sense to me. Much thanks to you and Steven.
I just like to watch even that I don't have the camera (but I dream to have this camera). Now I'm with a Sony crop sensor and investing in good full frame glass. So when I save enough, I will buy it. But thank you Jared for been so helpful to the community! Your work is awesome.
@@davecrissinger8967 who cares? Is not about the camera. If the only choice for me is the R6, I would be happy. Jared is a perfect example that you remember the phots that he made, not the camera that he uses.
Hi Jared, I can't begin to express how grateful I am to you for you taking the time and trouble to put such an excellent tutorial together. 90 minutes of my time very well spent. I've just bought mine and the AF has blown me away (coming from an X100F, which I still adore). A stellar performance from you will enable me to come to terms with the camera's capabilities so much quicker than trial and error, more often error, in my experience. I'm sure I now have it 95% set up the way I want it, with just a little tinkering to do (hey, that's half the fun of ownership). Top man! Thanks again, Greetings from London, ''Hippo''
Hey man I bought your intro to photography course several years back and it was awesome. Really nice to see you providing free info like this from an actual expert. Cheers!
You're a life-saver. I just bought this camera here on mainland China and it turns out there are no English menus. and supposedly, a firmware update won't fix it. Stupid of me for not asking about it before buying it, but I've bought Lumix S5 and Canon RP before here also and asked about the menus and this time, I just let my guard down. I used your video and just followed all the steps. Thanks again!
I’ve been a hobbyist still shooter since the 1980’s. I looked at several RUclips videos on the A7iv and this is by far the best. This is my first hybrid camera and I liked that the beginner material wasn’t dumbed down to the point I lost interest and stopped watching. I also applaud that you didn’t push your customization, many channels did. Subscribe and liked
Other guides are available. Michael the Maven's, for example, has been up since January for which your wait would have been considerably shorter. I haven't found any guides for the α7 IV that thoroughly go through the menus like the series Robert Valenzuela did for the R5/R6.
Thanks so much for this I just recently purchased my A7lV and was clueless, it’s my first camera ever, thanks to you I believe I’m all set and ready to film
Best tutorial period. I came from canon to the a4 and I’m so excited but the buttons and display are so foreign to me and i followed along with this and it is so easy. I do real estate photography and getting into more video now.
You're not the first but you're the best so I've had to hold off until I got notice this video was posted. Now I can make my a7IV sing the FroKnows way. Thanks for sharing this!
Great Video on the SonyA7iv! I just bought a Sony A7R iv & Im loving it! I used to watch all of Jared's reviews back when I started on a Canon rebel T5. I used to watch Jared's videos and tell myself "Wow! I'll never be able to afford the equipment or cameras jared has" but here I am 6-7 something years later, still shooting photography. Finally making money off my photos & getting the gear i've always wanted. Jared your videos have been such a life changer! All the video guides this guy has are amazing! "Getting out of Auto video guide" changed my life! Thank you Jared.
1h university degree classes i didn't take it seriously but 1h 30m camera guide i watched it without break. thanks man well explained and made more interesting with your humor ... funny + educational.
Just got my A7iV today. Thank you for the tut, just like I watched your user guide for the a7iii I’m here again for the A7iV. Very helpful and informative!
40:58 there is another reason: fully manual optics obviously do not get recognized so you have to enable this setting since the camera thinks that there is no lens attached
Wow, this was REALLY helpful. I was so confused when I got the Sony A7 IV, so many buttons and functions that I could not comprehend. But thanks to this video, I managed to understand almost all of them. I was coming from another A7 IV tutorial video from Jason Vong that left me with more questions than answers, and after that video it felt impossible to learn how to use this camera.
A note about the 26:00 aspect ratios: When you select a ratio that is not 3:2 (the full sensor ratio), all it does is adds a crop in camera. When you bring the cropped file into editing, the original full aspect ratio is actually still there, and you can change the crop back to the full image size if you want. Thats why I'm fine with changing my aspect ratio for composition reasons, knowing that the whole sensor is still capturing at 3:2
'I GOT THIS FAR' - Thank so much for this, as an old Nikon user going over to Sony, this has been massively helpful. Will be saving this and sharing it with others. Massively useful, informative and most of all, easy to watch.
Just to add: thank you for going thru menu as much as you did . Most camera stores are staffed by salespeople that aren't shooters. And when I got this camera hardly anyone in the store had no idea about menu setup.
i just bought my camera yesterday! ive been researching between a7/a7sIII and a7IV!!and decided to get a7IV!! & im happy that i found your video!✨ im a fan of Sony since i was 14. but now watching your videos gives me so much knowledge.❤️ and get to know more about my new camera!! you are one of the best YT ch!! thank you!! #subscribe!!
Fantastic video. Just got the camera and set it up with your help. It's a complex menu but with your help I feel confident I'm good to go. This video should come in the box with the camera.
I've been looking for this elusive A7 IV everywhere! Like it doesn't exist! FINALLY, this morning I got an email from sony they had some available and put my order in! LEGIT so stoked!! Full on ditching Nikon which is basically everything I have after my entire DSLR life & essentially starting from 0 again....Moving on & moving forward I want to do more video content / hybrid style w/ photography.
I went through several other online user guides and without a doubt this is the best. You are clear, concise, complete and have great tempo. Thank you!.
Awesome. I got my camera a few days ago but I waited until I got thorough this video before I started shooting. I've watched a number of these guides when shopping for cameras. But - I finally purchased the A7iv. So I watched this the whole way with the camera in hand. And YES, #igotthisfar. Love all your content. Bought the FroPack 3 too. Now I just gotta figure out lightroom (cause I'm gonna give RAW a shot). Thanks for the quality content.
Great video!! I just got my first digital "real" camera, I have just used a couple of cheap digital cameras since everything got digital. When I downloaded the manual for my new a74 I felt like crying, looking at the 510 pages. It took me four hours to get through the one- and a half hour video, but what a great video. I'll watch it again in a couple of days just to get it to stick. Many thanks.
Thank you! Just bought my first non-Nikon camera…. Waiting on my Sony a7iv and tamron 35-150 f2/2.8…. Nervous and excited at same time. Been a Nikon gal for 13 years.
I have a Sony a7S III and a LOT of the menu is the same as the a7 IV so this video was such a huge help. I've been using my a7S III for video and know all those settings inside and out but I've been wanting to dabble more in photo and this video really answered a lot of remaining questions I had about the photo settings. Thanks Jared!
Heyyy! Thank you for the rundown! Yes I went alll the way to the end. My new a7iv is gonna be here inna few more days…soooo I’ll be watching your whole vid again. I’ve had the FIRST a7 since 2013, so outdated, I was getting so frustrated with it. One time I went into a camera store here in Los Angeles to get a new lense, my a7 was about 4 yrs old at the time. One of the camera store dudes looked down his nose at me and commented on my very outdated 4 year old camera…. Geeez! I remember feeling like what the heck! All that to say is, there will always be someone who needs a walkthrough or may have an older setup and appreciates a kind word like “there are no stupid questions” or don’t worry if you have an older cam, all good things will come. Even though I’ve been using my Sony for a long time I always feel like I’m just starting out because I am an intermittent photographer/videographer so I forget stuff. Having you go through everything helps knowing in the first place then brushing up later when needed. So thanks again. Lisa

Fantastic camera setup video! I have my camera already set up…but I will watch it again with camera in my hands I may change some settings. While on set everything is so easy…I have my a7IV paired finally after months and months of waiting with the Tamron 35-150 2.0-2.8 zoom lens. I do shoot mostly photos and some video on a beach wedding ceremonies and a beach family portraits. That’s what I do…full time. Past Saturday In a miserable misty rainy day on the beach shooting a wedding ceremony… God bless the couple they had such a great spirit! I was shocked when I import it all the raw files in my Lightroom… From around 700 photos I had two out of focus 😳. That was my first shoot in that kind of condition. That’s why I took a few extra pictures. Ended up keeping around 300. I am wowed how that combo performed! I was constantly wiping the uv filter …but everything else was wet 😬… carefully dried and dehumidified afterwords when I get back home. Hey Jared thanks again for the fantastic video! You should see my two little girls saying fro knows photo at the beginning when I start watching your videos lol that’s funny. Cheers!
