A revue-style medley of the Songs of Lionel Monckton
From 1893 two decades of musical comedies presided over by 'The Guv'nor', entrepreneur George Edwardes, played at the London theatres 'The Gaiety' (both old and new) and Daly's. Musicals with 'Girl' in the title mainly at the former and musicals with 'Boy' in the title mainly at the latter. One of the most successful songwriters of the period was Lionel Monckton, and this medley uses songs he composed for these shows to create a flirtatious dialogue between the girls and boys.
