Haha! I love this! I’m definitely a “I can make this work anyway” type DIY-er. Usually it does! I’ve never sanded a thing in my life. And I use modge-podge for everything.. I looked this up because I refuse to spend $200 bucks on Zara olive green lug boots, when I have rubber/cloth type much boots the same shape! Maybe I’ll try fabric paints! I do t care if it lasts too long really.I never wear my boots much anyway. :D
The Rustoleum flex spray wouldn't stick (it peeled off) although it was flexible. I tried using alcohol and then an abrasive sink cleaner(soft scrub) to rough up the shiny almost greasy feel to the rubber. Still no joy. I ended up using Krylon spray adhesive first and then spraying the boots with the flex seal and I think that may have worked but the paint texture is slightly bumpy. I'll see how they wind up with wear. Painted blue rain boots white for kids Buzz Lightyear costume.
@@jrvikingscheer9867 How did you make out? While the spray adhesive made the paint stick a little more strongly, it still failed. I made the chest plate, cuffs, and wing/ backpack from craft foam (idea from Fun at Home with Kids). I think if he reuses the costume I'll try boot covers from craft foam similar to what Fun At Home did unless you came up with a better solution
the paint is not holding up very well. It looks really cute for a short period of time but then it cracked off! I think I will try this again, however, with different paint to see if that makes a difference. Thank you for watching the video :)
LMAO - didn't think it would hold up, but worth the shoot for sure! Thanks for helping us dodge. Let us know if you find the right product:) New subscriber from FL
It definitely works temporarily! It just doesn’t hold up well on the stress points where you would move your foot for normal wear and tear. I love the idea of boots holding flowers! So cute!
I did the same for a skit video....( mschf big red boots parody) ....its been two months now and the paint isn't dry yet...I guess I shouldnt have used Rustoleum....I think maybe also the Water boots may have had some sort of oily layer/film to begin maybe to keep the rubber supple, who knows... I think i'm just going to layer it over with some clear shoe polish (lots of it)
that's hilarious I bought these exact boots and the exact same spray paint for my Coraline cosplay and found this video!
Lina Zhang LMAO IM DOING CORALINE AT SCHOOL ON MONDAY HAHAHAHA
Lina Zhang its impossible to find yellow boots 😭
Poor w e pool
M I’m kind mom o
You have to use Krylon fusion spray paint, it sticks to rubber and plastic better than any other brand
HAHAHAHA ME TOO

Use Rust oleum flex spray paint commonly used for cars. This will prevent cracks
Thanks for the suggestion! I will definitely have to try that!!!

@@mamama3794 yes how did it go??
Do you think it would have worked out better if you had sanded the boots with some sandpaper before?
I just love this womens enthusiam!
This is very helpful! I have a pair of rubber gloves I need to paint for a cosplay and this answered my questions on how to go about it.

What about durability? Isn’t the paint chipping off? Thanks!
It was not durable at all! It held up long enough to take pictures but was starting to chip!
Gonna try this today on a pair of child’s boots

use vinyl paint! I'd love to see a DIY on that.

It may not work but mine are for holding flowers not to wear 😊
I used spray paint once on rainboots, and they were increidibly sticky I used the same kind of spray paint too :(
Me too! I’m sooooo bummed - they’re SO incredibly sticky now I can’t possibly wear them😠
@@apapineau2710 It means you painted on to thick before the previous layer could dry.
I live in the PNW do these come off in the rain?
paint is crackling as you wear it...not a good solution but a temporary one
I’m gonna make sharks and Dino ones
Horrible paint for boots!🤣
You should have used Angelus Paints.
I will have to try those! I have never heard of them!
Fail ! Well good try though....
