But I cannot recall that this has ever happened in televised snooker. As Ted Lowe once whispered: "There is a time limit on how long you might need to take a shot - but nobody knows it."

Time wasting rule is never enforced unless the ref sees the player deliberately wasting time when the shot that's "on" is clearly straight forward and there's nothing much to think about which is rare in pro snooker. Ebdon was exceptionally slow here, even for him, and I think if he did take much longer the ref would've warned him.
Jack Alexander was the only way that ebdon could beat him and he knew it so he just tried getting in ronnie's head and it worked since i'm sure he was 10-6 down in that match and won 13-11
I hate Ebdon for this match. 2005 should've been ronnies year. In the end the fat choir boy won. We might've see. Ronnie get 7 or 8 world titles if he won this world title this year
I like Ebdon, it's good that I know I can tune out as I go to work, do some shopping, go on holiday, start a family, etc. And still I won't miss a frame.

I was about 10 when that match was on TV and Peter Ebdon became snooker's villain for me ever since. It's only in recent years when I've seen him punditing that I've realised he was just playing his own game and not Ronnie's, and he also seems like a fairly nice guy.
At no point during that maximum break did Ronnie looked rushed. He chalked his cue, walked round and checked angles. Watching Ebdon is fucking torture.
There used to be a rule in snooker that went something like this."If the referee believes a player is taking an inordinate amount of time over his shots with the intention of upsetting his opponent,the referee will warn him that he will be disqualified if he pursues these tactics."To this day I believe the ref should have had a word with Ebdon.He must have known what he was up to.

I deem Ebdon a great player worthy of his 2002 crown, but bear in mind he played the match that this contentious frame was taken from against the one man capable if doing what you see on the left. These clips depict the best (so far) and the worst of Ronnie, the finest snooker player to lift a cue.

Legend has it that locked away somewhere in a dark and festering arena, Ebdon continues to play that frame to this very day! One of the main reasons I stopped watching the game as often - used to always catch it when he was playing.
I know they're not all going to be ronnie but this performance, ebdon has to either retire or be fined/suspended for timewasting and wasting the time of peoples' lives. A bit of a disgrace.
