I’ve watched all the players from the seventies onwards. Some incredible players and times. All would likely agree he’s just a fluke player, in that he’s a complete one off. Left handed, right handed, he could use his legs and hold the cue with his toes and still be awesome. I can’t imagine a better performance than what he shows so he’ll not be bettered.
When people look back at the record books then yes, Hendry will top the WC for sometime yet. However having watching Ronnie since the mid nineties, I don't see anyone in the current game who can go on to replicate all Ronnie has achieved over such a long period
He's not done yet .. still a got an odds on chance to at least equal Hendry's record, but even if he fails to match it I still think all the triple crowns, 100' breaks, 147's and ranking tournament wins will leave him as the water mark to beat in years to come. Ronnie : ummm just lil practice
Such an amazing player, brilliant, even his opponents are delighted at his play, rock on rocket
Who else but Ronnie! On his day, nobody else can get close.
i remember years ago i went to see ken doherty vs jimmy white in a exhibition in Ireland in about '99. ken doherty did a 146 in one frame then jimmy went in and did a 147 the next. it was absolutely brilliant. we were all jumping around the place celebrating, jimmy just smiled to the crowd. it only dawned on me the next day that these guys must do them all the time. its amazing to see it in front of your eyes though
Exhibitions for sure. No real pressure. Lad I used to play with (non pro) had a 147 the day Hendry visited the club in the 80s-90s. When Steven turned up, he played him and could hardly pot.
@@nuntana2
Out of curiosity, when in the 146 frame did Ken Doherty hit the pink? Did he keep up the hopes of a maximum for a long time?
When Ronnie is in the mood, pound for pound across all sports, hes the best there is
That might actually be true. Especially now that Messi is past his prime.
I totally agree, Tiger Woods in his prime may edge him but fair play to Ronnie, up there without a shadow of doubt, amazing player
Funny, I commented something similar somewhere else. Certainly up there with the Messis etc of the world
@@YogSoth This aged well. :)
ROS is brilliant for sure, but making comparisons with the greats in other sports is subjective to the point of meaningless. So why do it?
Ronnie is the GOAT, incredible legendary snooker champion.
From Australia
What a legend. The world will not see another talent of his magnitude in this life time.!
I love how when he changes to left-handed for the yellow he barely even stops to think about it. The man is an absolute genius.
If my memory doesn’t fail me Ronnie played matches with only his left hand
And the Pink.
When you've been playing for god knows how many thousands of hours like Ronnie playing left-handed really is not a big deal at all
@@garbygarb31 He has spent thousands of hours on the practice table using right and left but the level of natural ability with Ronnie is unlike anyone else. Scoring his first century break aged 10 and winning a club tournament as a 9 year old point to that.
Player having to play O'Sullivan:
Why do I hear boss music?
*Final Fantasy Music Intensifies*
Bosses in RPGs are supposed to be fairly easy to beat if you are leveled high enough. This was like one of the battles in RPGs where the player is scripted to lose, and the entire party is wiped out after they get one attack.
Joe Davis, Alex Higgins, Steve davis, and Stephen Hendry were all snooker GREATS and took the crown from one another, but Ronnie O'Sullivan is the only snooker GENIUS who has ever lived and will ALWAYS be the king of snooker. The crown will always be his.
There will never be another like him. It'll be a dark day for snooker and snooker fans when he retires. :(
Luv Ronnie but dont forget Jimmy and Alex... paved the way for genius snooker
"There can be only one"
Bullshit. Alex was more gifted than Ronnie ever was.
Cliff Thorburn.
Smart Arse Alex was gifted but your deluded if you think he was more of a genius than Ronnie.
The way he effortlessly switches cueing hand on the final yellow and pink. Phenomenal 👍👏
Reanne Evans will always be able to say she was good enough to play the greatest player who has lived! ❤️
And how did it go love.....?
awesome talent legend and we should look after him.
In what way? Tuck him in at night? Wipe his arse?
@@philmuggeson1849 Don't b a moron
@@philmuggeson1849
How about welcomming him not testing his mental strength . When he says hes cherry picking not doing the tour you say ``great , happy to have you play at your best `` . When he says a venue is tatty and unkept you consider that the biggest star has a point rather than telling him he has no right . You dont question his lifestyle . You dont ask him every friggin time he progresses if hes to retire . You say ``ronnie , its a pleasure to have you around , if you need anything just ask mate `` .
@Spencer Rees hes welcome around mine anytime :-)
It was in reference to phil muggsens critique we should kiss his arse . Ronnie is unique and every interview he has to sit and justify why hes still around . You dont get that with say robinson or mark williams . Its got to test him , no wonder he goes through stages of thinking whats the point and says he will retire . Knowing he can be fragile and hes ramped back what he now plays we should look after what we have because when hes gone hes gone . There is no replacement waiting in the wings . This is the twilight of an epic career of the greatest snooker player thats been . Long may it last .
@@godzillas6301 Nobody said anything about "kiss his arse"; Muggeson can speak for himself, but I think you're missing the point that the original comment was an example of how 'we' is possibly the most misused word in the English language. Unless you're the one actually interviewing O'Sullivan then it's not 'we' but 'them' that should be 'your' concern.
That fistbump at the end was so wholesome :3
The refs been watching Ronnie vids the way he was moving, fair play to him.

At least two shots (pink)
what a legend !!!!!! would loved to hear commentary on this perfect score
8:01 this is the most English thing Ive seen in decades. What a legend
I was born in Belfast, RIP Higgins.
I lived most of my life in Canada, and got to witness Thorburn.
But nothing, compares to this man.
When the referee’s voice wobbles because he’s getting nervous means we’re witnessing something truly epic.
I was at school when Ronnie made his WR 147. He's still doing it and I'm now 40.
Me too. Amazing talent.
ZappoTan He is like an evolution of Alex Higgins. That man could not play position to save his life but the fun was watching him get out of the tangles he got himself in. Ronnie has both the maverick and the strategy. An intriguing fellow and snooker would be dead without him.
@ZappoTan hardly far fewer when he's got 5 world titles the most masters ever and countless other titles ✌
@ZappoTan well it's a lot harder to become a world champion now because there are a lot more top notch players than it was when Hendry was on top so it cant really be compared. Ronnie has almost every record there is and is most definately a better player than Hendry was. Argue as much as you want....

The answer is everyone, who is here after that comment. Srsly, who would ever reply "no" to that?

No
6:05 He even puts on side to make sure he doesn't end up low on the black, beautiful.
He plays nearly every shot with side even when he doesn't have to, it's because he can!
I missed that but I was impressed by his side spin against the angle at 6:32. I'm too nervous to try that.
Simply amazing. He does it again and again. It is hard to imagine anyone ever being better than him.
It could be a very very very long time until someone comes along as good....let alone better...WOW...your imagination is running wild are you smokin some of the good stuff bro?
Better maybe but not moore interesting. It is one thing to win and be a machine or actually a human being.

To beat Ronnie you need a great strategy to win. Break his cue, tie his laces together, hire thugs to kidnap him. You know ... strategy.
He'd probably still win then.
No. You have to get the first red in and snooker him from all others - then you stand a small chance. Small.
He'll headbutt the thugs and win again
Then he uses the other hand, ok straight jacket next time, should be an evens chance if hes using his mouth and a rest
