Great video of a place I haven’t given much thought, although I heard the food and prices were great! Is there a place on your bucket list that the two of you haven’t been to yet? BTW, did you watch the Bruins and Maple Leafs last night? Go Bruins!!
Thank you! Yeah, Portugal offers great value for travelers. It is not nearly as expensive as some nearby countries. Oh, go Bruins go! I hate the Leafs ;)
Wow, I still haven't watched the whole video but Pastel de Nata does originate in Portugal, but they have the same pastry in Macao (being a Portuguese colony)
You have to be generous with the cinnamon and the icing sugar when eating pastéis de nata (most often, they are written in plural; pastel is the singular). Also, they should be fresh out of the oven. Give it some backup with a cup of coffee. This is how it becomes soooo Portuguese! I love Portuguese cuisine!
Okay just to make things clear, Pastel de Belém is a Registered Trade Mark, only that shop can sell it under the name Pastel de Belém , is all the other places all over the Country or the World its called Pastel de Nata.

Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos the better shops are on the outskkrts ir the city. In my opinion the best one I've tested is in Benfica, called Pastelinho de Benfica. A small coffee shop that hand makes them almost every day (they are closed in tuesdays so the best day to get them is on wednesday and monday. They have to make them really early ) but there is actually a citywide contest every year for this. I'll try to drop the link bellow.
There is no oficial page for the contest but seems this year the winner was a seafood restaurant called "Mercado do Peixe" at Ajuda ( above Belém ), 2nd place was "Fidalgo's" bakery at Moita and 3rd was "Pastelaria Batalha" at Venda do Pinheiro. Hope you return soon.
Do never get the ones in the gas stations along the highway. You will be disappointed. As you may expect they are mass produced. Do yourself a favor and get the authentic ones in a pastry shop or shop such as the ones shown in this video.

Thank you very much for sharing that!
I prefer the belem. Less sugar and more taste
I got fed up being offered hashisa every 5 mins ha
you can get these in the portuguese bakeries all over Toronto ....lets see food ....no desserts
Why don't you make you own Pastéis de Nata at home ?
We'd love to try that someday!
Thanks!
It reads like "pashtel de nata"
Do never get the ones in the gas stations along the highway. You will be disappointed. As you may expect they are mass produced. Do yourself a favor and get the authentic ones in a pastry shop or shop such as the ones shown in this video.
Dude is high xd
