  • Ever own a guitar that just has it? A guitar with "THAT" sound? This is that guitar right here! It has that early 90's death metal charm to it and I love that! I went ahead and sticker bombed it with a bunch of iconic and random horror movie images that I grew up watching and loving. It gave me something to do while I was still recovering from the really bad weeks of my injury. Then I went ahead and ripped off the old strings, cleaned the fretboard and frets, restrung, and reset the guitar up in the D Standard tuning I'll be using with it.

    I have a 2010 RG 1570. The V series pick ups are absolutely perfect for high gain tones. And this guitar stays locked in tune and intonation like gold in Fort Knox.
    It literally hung on the wall in the studio for 3 to 4 months between the live floor sessions and lead guitar player coming back to do overdubs .
    He got that baby off the wall plug that fucker in and she was still in perfect tune.
    These late 90s early to mid 2000 RG series Ibanez they’re fucking off the chain. I would have to be in dire straits to get rid of any of my RG’s.
    Kevin , brother man, I love the channel
    Hands-down, some of the most brutal riffs on RUclips . Not to mention you come off genuine and down to earth. It’s always a good time brother!
    Keep doing what you’re doing !

    Nice find! I have a '94 RG 550LTD with the same pickups and trem. Original owner, bought it new in 1994 for a $1k and still have it today. It's MIJ, (pre-prestige), from the legendary Fujigen factory. Came with that same molded OHC also. EDIT - You made me feel like playing mine so I dusted her off. I was wrong, this one has the V7, S1, V8 pickups.

      Its not always a matter of cost, i have a chinese steve vai knockoff that needs a whole new bridge bc the "floyd rose type tremolo" was unlicensed and bc it was unlicensed and chinese they used different sized nuts for the finetuners than floyd roses use. Tho i doubt Ibanez would do what the chinese 'singer' brand did, n use completely different sized nuts on the fine tuners, but i wouldnt necessarily rule it out completely if it was the early 90s especially
      Tho it sounds like he knows its an actual licensed Floyd tho

    • @pauln6803
      @pauln6803 10 месяцев назад

      @@SNOwyte
      Doesn't matter if it's licensed or not.
      The licence was just an answer to the cheap knock offs (Kahler practically went bust by staying USA and trying to take down the rip-offs) and so that guitar companies could use cheaper Floyd type bridges on their less expensive instruments.
      Even amongst the "licenced" bridges, there were a lot of variations in quality and design, even down to whether the bridge uses metric or imperial threads on things like the posts and fine tuners.
      The patents expired some time ago, so there's no need to stamp "Licensed under Floyd Rose patents" on any locking fulcrum bridge anymore.

    I have exactly the same one!! I was 16 when i saw it at the local music store. I fell in love with it immediately. I’m 43 now it’s been a while but of all the guitars I’ve had this is the only one I kept. I’m a lefty so back then you really didn’t have much choice! And french too so we probably didn’t have so many cool guitars as you guys in the US. It looked mean and metal! All my friends were into nirvana and had like stratocaster type of guitar. So it was love at first sight when i saw that black beast.That neck is so thin and fast it’s a fantastic axe. Got a dimarzio x2n to replace the bridge.

    Early 1990s, late 1980s RG stand above. Its my understanding that the Wizard 1 necks were handmade, so there is some variability resulting in some "mojo". These are going real cheap right now. Good time to grab one. Probably cheap due to the reissues and also people needing to dump gear.

    I think the V series pickups are Gotoh or something else Japanese.
    People think they are DiMarzio because of the allen pole pieces and Ibanez has a long history with DiMarzio due to their artists (Satch/Vai/Timmons/Petrucci) using them.
    Funny enough, if you swap the magnets in the V7/V8 neck and bridge humbuckers over, you get something pretty close to the actual USA DiMarzio/Ibanez IBZ pickups.

    • @jrg770
      @jrg770 10 месяцев назад +1

      Strangely, The V7 (Neck) is Ceramic and the V8 (Bridge) is Alnico V. Thats why the swap makes such difference where the V8 with a ceramic becomes a Super Distortion and better for definition but the V7 with the Alnico V loses a bit of its clarity with the swap. 🍻I have one guitar swapped and another not.

    Kyle Bull is a cool dude. Very nice Ibanez, Brother. That's all my buddy plays. Me, I'm all over the map. From Friedman, To Les Paul, To Jackson, To Charvel, To Ernie Ball Music Man, To PRS, etc. For amps, it pretty much has to be a Plexi, Modded Plexi, or Soldano SLO. What kind of speakers are you running in your Egnater 4x12. My favorite speakers are Celestion UK Made Greenbacks. As far as speaker combos go in a 4x12...I like the Friedman 4x12 speaker combination. 2 Celestion Greenbacks on Top, and 2 Celestion Vintage 30's on the Bottom. Bruce Egnater from Michigan, was Dave Friedman's mentor. Do you Friedman Amps and Guitars, Kevin? They're mindblowing. None of it is cheap, but you definutely get your money's worth when you buy Friedman Products. I'm waiting on my Friedman Red Tolex 20 watt Jake E Lee amp to arrive any day now. Much Love and Respect From Sonny In New Orleans. Kevin, Since I know you like Jackson Guitars, You might wanna check out the new Jackson Japanese Guitars...They're awesome. I, recently bought a Jackson Japanese Series SL 2 with 2 humbuckers, a Gotoh Floyd Rose Tremelo, and two seymour duncan pickups..Jazz in the neck, and JB in the bridge. Much Love and Respect Brother. From Sonny in New Orleans, La. PS. Hope you get to feeling better.
