We're back with more from Flames of War For The Win! In this episode the guys get to grips with all the different obstacles you forces may run into and in turn how to use them against your enemies like Minefields and lots more.
Nice video, although there has been one addition to the ambushing obstacles situation. The new addition states, that when placing obstacles form the Pioneer Supply Truck using the Ambush special rule, the obstacles are placed the same way as other teams in the ambushing platoon ( 4" away if concealed, 8" away from a recce team if concealed...). This was done to prevent players from placing obstacles under the opponents teams, which usually resulted in breaking some elementary rules (i.e.: Infantry can't stop in the middle of barbed wire, it can be on one or the other side).

Want to shut down armor with minefields? For LW Germans, take a look at the Stuetzpunkt Reichsgrenadier list. While it is possible to take 12 or more minefields, I've found that 9 minefields backed by PaK nests and artillery batteries work just fine against armor lists.
I agree, especially to cost to build the models.
I want to get into either this or Bolt action... I can't decide which one.

Intresting Video. But if I remeber correctly you can´t put minefields from ambushing pioneers under enemy Teams since you got to follow the ambush rules.
Anyway an intressting insight for beginners.
You are correct. P262 of the small rule book says that all fortifications must be placed before your opponent places any objectives. The FAQ Lessons from the front says that pioneer supply vehicles (for missions where prepared positions rule is in place) are deployed you can deploy one minefield or three barbed wire obstacles. When Placing these obstacles, you must follow the rules for placing ambushes.
+Mike Laaper I should be clearer here. Page 263 of the rule book says when and how many obstacles you can deploy when deploying a pioneer supply vehicle. Lessons from the front gives clarification the clarification of using the ambush rule, when the supply vehicle is deployed as a reserve unit.

Nice to see more FoW content. This channel is terrible for my wallet with all the new games I want to play. I hope Warren's Stugs have an easier time with those minefields.

so, can you play an ambush mine field on ground that has already been covered in the match? so, hypothetically, youre chasing me down an alleyway between bocage, and at some point i plop a mine field behind me, right under your units. when something is played in ambush 'it is said to have always been there' - would i then have to do a retroactive skill check..? or can i just toss them like mario kart bananas

QUESTION! How can you deploy a minefield under or right in front of a tank from ambush if the rule stipulates it must not be within 16 inches of the enemy?! SOMEONE HELP need to know this lol
The minefield, I believe, is carried by the pioneer supply truck. So I think you have to deploy the supply truck outside 16 of the enemy, but its minefield can be anywhere.

Where you roll a 2 on your status when crossing the mine field… what is your status? Where do I this on my unit cards?

Always been intrested in Flames of War, money is the limiting factor atm.
Look into Plastic Soldier Company. Significantly cheaper models compared to their resin kits. Not sure how they compete with the newer plastic kits.
A nice starter army can be found in the flames of war forces book. Go to easyarmy.com, make an account, and look for the book "forces" (I believe its free, if not, then 2$). This is an online PDF of the actual book. Typically, if you just want to start out, go for tanks. 3 German Tigers and a box of panzer 4s will run you perfectly, only costing maybe $60 if you get the plastic panzer kit.
If you want to play Germans and have a low budget, conciderations are;
buy plastic soldier company Panther box 2 or 3 times, you can run kampfgruppe Bake, same goes for the other tank boxes, Stug Battery can be build with plastic soldier company kits. I started out buying 3 boxes of panzer IV-h's, expanded my kampfgruppe wiking slowly, started out with 2 blisters. Relatively cheap Battlefront armies are the heavy tank lists of the germans, soviet can't be played cheap.
Plastic Soldier Company Soviet start is obviously the T-34 box, use both option turrets get a few boxes and you have a massive army which can be used in mid war and late war lists, and can be used as support in a lot of lists. You could build a IS-2 army with the PSC. IS-2 box, you'll need about 15 of them for 2000 points.
My introduction was I bought a random blister without even knowing what it did.
Painted them up, completely inaccurate. But got me hooked. Best tip perhaps is to settle for only having one army. If you build one list you really like, you'll be able to run tournaments, and perhaps over time add to the list in small numbers. Though I personally have to say, apart from the T-34 I prefer the battlefront version of most kits, PSC is horrible, I can't paint them right.. hate painting them..
Are mines automatically spotted or do you have to roll a dice to spot the minefield?

I'm not sure that you really need more tools to stop tanks. I mean I can only put so many pak40 rounds into Sherman's before there's just nothing left

Beasts you need to redo theses videos as there somewhat redundant. Also the little skinny chap is a bit hard to understand. It also seems that they are always being corrected. Any way just my two pence.
