Absolutely agree. Have you seen that in prison video with the "I'm Going to throw 3 punches...." Prison Dude faked out the guy with the illusionary "slow" 3rd punch. Larry was brilliant at knowing at what 'illusionary speed' he was moving would be right under that 'Super React button'..... All 3 are great. It depends on what you like. Bird Magic and MJ. The Trinity. And u can take your pick. They're all great. I love Bird. But I'm ok with having MJ or Magic. It's not a drop off to go from MJ to Bird or Magic. They ran the 80s the best era easily. Nobody will beat those 3 on the same team

@@johnscilleto That's your opinion. And no he wasn't just a better "shit talker" -___- He fucking owned Jordan when they played one another, and that even includes in the early 90's when Jordan began his dynasty and Bird could barely walk.

Bird was a good team defender and played the game like chess he was always three moves ahead of everybody and always knew where to be and always got into peoples heads and was great at deflecting passes and causing other peoples offense to become stagnant. Good hands and good reflexes and always out worked and out hustled his opponents because he had to make up for not being as fast strong or athletic. Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.

My high school teammate has the distinction of beating Bird and Indiana State, 3 times in the 1978 season. Home, Away and for the Missouri Valley Conference Championship. We know what happened in 79... 😆
This was before ESPN, cable, internet...so when I saw L.Bird in the tiny print of the newspaper, leading the nation in scoring 30+, starting in '77, I called my boy and asked, 'Man...who is this bad brother at Indy St. Fillin' it up!!' (I imagined someone like Marvin Barnes, or Larry Kenon). My guy just asked me, are you sitting down? He said Larry Bird was a white boy, not only that, he was slow and couldn't jump... but, he's the BADDEST white boy I've EVER SEEN. True story...

Speed and quickness are two different things. Larry Bird had the best hand eye coordination of probably anybody to ever play in the league and while he wasn't fast he was very very quick to react and his mind was among the best. So when you have somebody with one of the best basketball Minds who's able to process that information quickly, the best Court Vision and eye coordination anyone at that size has ever possessed in the game along with the toughness and determination and work ethic mixed in and you have Larry Bird
