      Add a Defensive All Star MVP, with an award of 10 million. They can afford it. Uncontested layups worth 1 point, wide open threes worth -5. Only NBA players can participate in events. If you miss the game before the All-Star break, you don't play in it. Winning coach gets 10 million bonus.
      Meh. None of that would work even if they did it.

      I think he'd be a bit better. A bit less physical in the amount of contact allowed, higher usage percentages and a true emphasis on the 3 point shot now. He attempted 2 3s a game while basically hitting those at a 405% clip and a usage of around 28% during his prime. Compare that with a guy like Tatum, who averages close to 7 3s a game with a usage of 30+%.
      Basically, Larry was built for today's game.

      Others don't talk down on them, they speak truth. Tje question is... "Is it a lie?" No. That's the problem with so many generations after GenX. They are soft and cry about everything... Larry Bird said if he asked his Dad for money he would've slapped him in the head and said get a job!. These players feel they have arrived, making millions and don't have to do much to earn it. The past players had to earn it, play hard and show why they deserved the position and money. We need people to speak truth. If they're sorry, they're sorry and if they're good they're good.

    • @John6-40
      @John6-40 3 месяца назад +20

      @Blacklist324 Agreed. The 3 was intended to be a way for teams to catch up when being blown out, or to tie games when down by 3.
      An emergency shot.
      The problem is that teams figured out how to space the floor and get wide open 3's, and also that they now put all the focus on this.
      The NBA and commissioner have done nothing to counter this and bring back balance, something they always used to do when a style of play became dominant.
      Instead, Silver is leaning into this and just saying players are better now, which is what kids want to hear anyway.
      I don't think this strategy is good long term, as people are smart enough to see that the product is broken.
      Hopefully the NBA gets better soon.

    He seemed a little uncomfortable..maybe he realized what he meant to the league once upon a time is over , young fans have heard of him but didn't witness him play live or on TV and don't really know just how great this man was .. to say lebron is on the same level as Larry bird is like saying OJ was a great husband .... Larry bird had fucking balls of steel and played when you got the hell beat out of you night after night especially when you played the pistons -he played when defense mattered ,when the officials called the game by the rules .. or at least tried ....Larry would tell you jordan is the GOAT and then there is Larry bird ,Jordan knows Larry pushed him to his limits as a player ,just like Jordan there will never be another Larry bird~

    The NBA sill refuses to acknowledge ABA stats. That rivalry will never die. It's shameful. For example, Dr. J elected to skip the NBA out of college and joined the ABA instead - becoming the highest paid player in basketball. If you combine Dr. J's stats from the NBA/ABA he has over 30,000 points. But the NBA refuses to acknowledge the significance of the ABA.

    • @Brian-pu8we

      It was J's choice to seek the money instead of playing ABA. I watched him play at UMass and he was a wonderful person. Met him at a golf tournament in Georgia. My opinion of him grew as we sipped a beer together.

      That is fine. It's all on display for our debate on why the older generation was more competitive. Yeah the game has evolved. Players are more athletic and can hit shots from outside in the parking lot. On the flip side the heart and passion is gone. No great defenders in the paint. No enforcers ect. Remember that Dennis Rodman guy?
