I was born in 1975 and grew up 30 miles south of Boston and watching the Celtics during the 80s was an honor and also those Lakers and Pistons teams were legendary must watch TV the only comparable 2000s team was the Shaq and Kobe Lakers .....
I was at the game when he hit the game winner against the Bullets. It was the second game of the '87-'88 regular season at the Capital Centre. I was there with my mother and brother. We went crazy when Bird hit the shot. What a fun memory.
People that never saw him play look at him, the mediocre body, the limited athletic skill set and the short shorts and just assume he wasn’t shit. Man was a killer, one of a kind.
I’m a lakers fan, no where near a Celtics fan, but to say Larry bird is a legend would be an understatement. When everyone is telling stories about you and you just stand back and keep humble about it, that’s more than legend activity. They gotta invent a new word for Larry.
If basketball was a game of chess, Larry had people in checkmate before the game even started. Wasn't fast, but the dude had vision of the game that was so aware it was freaky. Not only took advantage of every window but he created his own advantages with that talk, getting in guys heads, making them forget their game. Truly one of the best ever.
A legend. You'd never see someone with heart like Bird leave the court with 5 minutes left because his team was down like Lebron. You win together you lose together but you never give up.
The one I love is he's playing Utah and has a triple double plus nine steals in THREE QUARTERS. KC Jones gets word from the statistician that he's one steal away from only the second quadruple double in NBA history. He tells Bird, asks him if he wants to go back in during the blowout and Larry says, "Nah, I've done enough damage for tonight." Dude was a beast.
Damn bird! Miss you brother you definitely don't get the respect nowadays that you deserve. Back when the NBA was the best watched television hands down. #facts Texas all day South Park H-Town Texas forever.
y'all gotta remember that his legend started long before the NBA. He played for Indiana State University and all he had was a guard that was semi proficient. they go to the NCAA finals against Michigan State who had Ervin Johnson plus 2 other guys who were drafted and damn near won the whole thing.
Imagine telling your defender the play you’re about to run-execute it, make the open shot and win the game. How many people can do that? Larry is a legend.
Saw Larry drinking a beer one time at a country club. You couldn’t see the bottle. All you could see was a giant hand moving from the table to his face.
That's hilarious about Magic having to sit out a game and he talks to him, "I'm gonna put on a show for you!" LOL I'm guessing they talked to each other a lot when they were playing.
Magic tells a story about visiting Larry @ his childhood home. Larry ignored him so hard Larry's mom invited Magic to dinner, made Larry eat with them. Magic tells it better and enjoys the telling.
What a legendary era .... Before Jordan took over the league & went on his run. Celtics vs Lakers was can't miss TV... Larry, McHale, Parrish - Magic, Kareem, Worthy... They had some great battles with the Philly too... Dr J & Moses.!!! Isiah, Barkley, Dominique & so many other HOF .!! I miss that NBA..

Larry's Basketball IQ and confidence is still the best all time. Without a doubt one of the top 5 players of all time. There will never be another Larry Bird.
You had to see it to believe it. For a slow guy with not much quickness or pure athleticism ..... he was simply one of the very best players who ever stepped on a basketball court in the history of basketball. His talents were immeasurable. At times you would not believe what you were seeing.
That’s what I say about Luka Doncic. Larry’s one of those guys who would DESTROY people no matter what league he played in. Literally makes no sense when you watch him. He’s just that good!
I grew up in the greatest era and witness Lakers Celtics rivalry, I was definitely a laker fan magic, worthy was my favorite at the time, Cooper Kareem, hating on those Celtics, but growing up and maturing I realized how truly great he was.Bird was a stone cold killer court awareness was unreal. The LeBron Era guys could not hold a candle to these guys. These guys would school all these iso one on one dunkers, with no ball skills
For the people who didn't actually see Larry play, & only relive the highlights, they have no idea what they missed! The game has changed over the years, its much different today then the rougher game of the 80s, but for the doubters- Magic Johnson said Larry was the ONLY player in the league he truly feared! Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the all time leading scorer, said Larry was the best player he ever played against, he was unstoppable! & Isaiah Thomas said his mother-in-law called Larry's shots silent death, Larry Leagend is truly one of a kind!

@@DeadGivaway Pretty awesome to watch
And you never will again
@@kipenilutu3953 Seems like it
I was born in 1975 and grew up 30 miles south of Boston and watching the Celtics during the 80s was an honor and also those Lakers and Pistons teams were legendary must watch TV the only comparable 2000s team was the Shaq and Kobe Lakers .....
Me too Aug of 75. From Worcester 30 miles west
Umm I'm pretty sure everyone knows Larry Bird is a legend.
I love all these old Bird stories.
Larry Legend even with a broken back was an absolute MONSTER
I’m a lakers fan, no where near a Celtics fan, but to say Larry bird is a legend would be an understatement. When everyone is telling stories about you and you just stand back and keep humble about it, that’s more than legend activity. They gotta invent a new word for Larry.
If basketball was a game of chess, Larry had people in checkmate before the game even started. Wasn't fast, but the dude had vision of the game that was so aware it was freaky. Not only took advantage of every window but he created his own advantages with that talk, getting in guys heads, making them forget their game. Truly one of the best ever.
“ any time we had a chance to win Larry bird changed that “😂
A legend. You'd never see someone with heart like Bird leave the court with 5 minutes left because his team was down like Lebron. You win together you lose together but you never give up.
And lebron is still better than him
@@vibvfg this dude mad as hell that Lemickey got bounced out of the play ins after going "at least i got my scoring title"
@@vibvfg no hell
Pretty sure Bird did leave the court once before the game was even over. I don't have a stake in the Lebron comparison, just saying tho
Actually the whole Celtics team left the game against pistons on the playoffs
Wonderful to see Larry Bird. Brilliant.. Wonterful!
My favorite one is when he said to a player he just effortlessly dropped 10 baskets on "Is your mother watching?" Lmao
Respect is not given by Larry Bird. It was earned and he earned it.
Bro, he got his own rebound and layed it up mid air as he's going out of bounds..
I love watching these old heads talking about each other and the old days. The stories get more elaborate each year.
Greatest generation of the nba
Respect to you fan he was unforgettable these kids don't know
y'all gotta remember that his legend started long before the NBA. He played for Indiana State University and all he had was a guard that was semi proficient. they go to the NCAA finals against Michigan State who had Ervin Johnson plus 2 other guys who were drafted and damn near won the whole thing.
He left Hoosier because the room mate had to many bags 😂😂
Imagine telling your defender the play you’re about to run-execute it, make the open shot and win the game. How many people can do that? Larry is a legend.
*puts white guy on him
*Larry bird: so you have chosen death.
May I say this, he is still underrated.
Not by anyone who played against him. Only by kids too young to know.
Saw Larry drinking a beer one time at a country club. You couldn’t see the bottle. All you could see was a giant hand moving from the table to his face.
I just love Larry and how he rips everyone but they all respect and or love him
I couldn't be more proud of growing up in Boston and watching Larry
That's hilarious about Magic having to sit out a game and he talks to him, "I'm gonna put on a show for you!" LOL I'm guessing they talked to each other a lot when they were playing.
Magic tells a story about visiting Larry @ his childhood home. Larry ignored him so hard Larry's mom invited Magic to dinner, made Larry eat with them. Magic tells it better and enjoys the telling.
Great Bird stories. Feeling nostalgia watching this. RIP KC Jones, DJ, Chris Ford
NEVER missed those games.
It was a nail-biting finish almost every time because the guys on those teams never quit.
The players were men you could respect.
Larry Is a colossus of sports. Respect from Europe. He is the example to follow. Midfielder soccer who gives a 3-point basket thanks to You. I was 10 years old and he was my star. In the 90's
Ahhh 80s 90s basketball. Just like with everything else back then today crap just doesn't compare.
Right on! They say this cat Bird is a baaaaaad mother... "Shut yo mouth!" I'm talkin' bout Bird!
Larry's Basketball IQ and confidence is still the best all time. Without a doubt one of the top 5 players of all time. There will never be another Larry Bird.
Proof that Bird can get you 270K views even when video editing on a Commodore 64.
LOL!
Witty and wise observation! Signed, Bird fan and Long ago owner of a Commodore 64
He wasn't that slow, his quickness was so bad he faked out everyone, and athleticism is more than verticals
Larry Legend all day.
Thanks for posting @Uncut Hoops - this was great and hilarious.
MJ and Bird probably the two best trash talkers of all time
Bird is higher on the GOAT list than LeBron, he also deserves far more respect for what he and magic did. LeBron isn't what he is without bird.
Who ya a better chance at stopping who, bird stopping bron, or bron stopping bird?
He is underrated.
@@gregolson3216 just because you don’t know how good he was it doesn’t mean he’s underrated, listen to these guys talking
You don’t have a clue. Far more respect lol. Relax fangirl
@@NikNation Bron driving on Bird means Mchale and Parish is in the lane. Labron would not score 10
Basketball at it’s best! 🐐
I miss the type of basketball that they played in the 80's and 90's before they made defense illegal.
"You don't even belong in the leagues holms" 🤣
That story of Larry chucking a young Michael Jordan’s basketball to the other side of the court is hilarious af 😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah 😂
For the people who didn't actually see Larry play, & only relive the highlights, they have no idea what they missed! The game has changed over the years, its much different today then the rougher game of the 80s, but for the doubters- Magic Johnson said Larry was the ONLY player in the league he truly feared! Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the all time leading scorer, said Larry was the best player he ever played against, he was unstoppable! & Isaiah Thomas said his mother-in-law called Larry's shots silent death, Larry Leagend is truly one of a kind!
They just don't make 'em like that anymore. Great clips. Thanks for the post.
If the games on the line, I want Jordan taking the shot. If my life is on the line, I want Larry.
I miss watching him. Amazing.
Larry Bird was the best Basketballer ever.
Larry Legend is one of a kind. There will never be another Larry Bird..
6:57. The Larry Bird, Chuck Person clips might be the best of the best. Chuck scores 16 in a row then Larry scores, blocks him and trash talks. As good as it gets.
Larry Bird broke many fans hearts, at the buzzer, because until it stopped, he had the skills to kill 😈
That's the way it is, only legit talented players have the right (literally) to trash talk. Looking at you Reggie
I use to love watching Bird lol😂
5:54 one of the best points ever imho... Everyone looks the ball and he just goes to where the ball falls and then quick hands, amazing
This Generation would cry if they playedhim
Exactly!
they are much more athletic and skilled today, they wouldnt have as much trouble with him now as they did then

Larry Bird is my favorite of all time
We owe so much as basketball fans to lakers, celtics, magic and larry legend
That story with Byron Scott I've heard told by Xavier McDaniel when he was playing against the Celtics. Exact same story. Not only did Larry Bird do that, but he did it twice. What a savage.
This documentary was really well done.
