With most traffic being mobile, it be great to see how we can make great hero sections for those screen sizes. A dedicated video for that would be great Wes, thanks for sharing these new layouts!
One thing I had to learn the hard way is you need to have a landing page per a keyword target essentially, they don't need to be part of your main sites structure but you do need to use them, especially for keyword targeting with ads and such. No one ever told me this, but it's super important.
@@kcrun I think he means if you're running something like ads or anything else where you're targeting certain keywords, create landing pages for each keyword... So if you're a business targeting couples and singles, make a landing page specifically for couples and another specifically for singles. He also says these pages don't have to be a big or visible part of the website's structure.
Hey @otockian could you share the software you're using for this? I've been manually creating specific landing pages for ads that have generated sales or performed well with certain audiences. I'm really interested in learning how you handle landing page creation for different keyword targeting.
It's very important for SEO as well. For ads, you can hide the landing pages. For SEO, you definitely want them linked in the main navigation bar and somewhere on the homepage. 0:15
I recently learnt that too. Check out Mailchimp Landing Page Best Practices for High Conversion Rates: The more landing pages, the better. Companies with 30 or more landing pages get up to 7 times more leads than those that have less than 10. Because at the end of the day a landing page is a standalone page written for the purpose of getting a consumer to go a step further by signing up for email notifications or taking advantage of a free offer.
Hi Wes, Professionals like you who demonstrate information like this are true heroes, man! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and helping us.
bro this advanced thing is really impressive, thanks to all of the years of your experience being explained professionally in few minutes, keep it up ❤❤🔥🔥❤❤
These examples helped tremendously in clarifying a site for my martial arts business. At least regarding a landscape format. Similarly, what best practices would you recommend for portrait/mobile layouts?
Thank you for creating this. Watching it to understand how to make my website better. Trying to figure out how to implement this into my photography website.
This was something else.. just when I thought I didn't have a whole lot more to learn about web design and development, you prove that to be false.. and I am grateful!
I really liked this less edited format. I love all your videos, but this one felt more authentic, and it was easier to follow. Thanks for all the great layout ideas! I'm gonna send this to our agency's dev team.
Great examples. I would say I follow most of these best practices. Some of the more complex hero sections can become complicated on mobile. I think if you go with a complicated hero then maybe have a simplified design for mobile.
Hi Wes, this is a wonderful video. It's important to stay up to date with trends and what work. I would really appreciate if you showed how these hero sections would look on mobile view.
I love the designs, I'm not a web developer but a business owner. How do I find a designer that can do something like these samples for me. It seems everyone out there is just copying other websites and not making unique sites.
If you’re hiring a designer rather than buying a template you should be able to simply show them this video and discuss the example you want them to model your site on. If a designer can’t do that they aren’t actually a designer, they’re someone you’re paying to build a template website for you.
Love this new video, Wes! Thank you - excellent design tips, excellent video presentation 🙌 Where can we find this type of new templates on WP - it would be super useful to know. Keep well and keep’em coming! ❤️
This is great but I have to agree that the mobile viewing dominantes...people need instant information and the phone is now their main source for information.
Depends on your market. Our market is still those people who check out websites from their pcs. And they spend a lot of money, most of them aren't going to spend that much getting info solely from their phones.
This is perfect 👍 is there a major difference in just creating this layout in pure html (super quick loading) vs Wordpress so it’s a bit easier to add a contact form or other useful plugins?
This is super helpful. I have a video playing (I’m a videographer) in my hero section, and feel it’s not helping me. I might do some screen grabs and use the images in it instead. Unless you suggest something else!
Hi @WesMcDowellInc thank you for sharing. I picked up on a few ideas that I'd like to implement right away. I'm wondering how to use some of these while not having the header be a distraction. In other words, I'm undecided if I want to use some of these for specific landing pages or for the home page hero. I'm sure they can work for both though.
Hey Wes! I love your videos and am contemplating the paid Course. Question. do you feel that its worth it to use an SEO company to get websites and SEO work done or do you feel that this is something that can be done on my own. just for your reference: SEO company is charging $1200 USD/month. I have little experience with website development and SEO related things. Thanks. By the way im a window cleaner.
Unfortunately that's almost always a bad deal. What exactly would htey be doing for you for that price? On-site stuff on your site, or backlink building? or both?
I wonder if he looks at websites and gives his advice? Im just getting into CRM and am building a website. Actually its a template and some advice would be nice!
I think most people are missing the point of left/right positioning studies, because images take precedence over words. So, just because our eyes do a Z or E pattern from left to right doesn't mean we'll read the text first! In fact, our brains will take a shortcut by overlooking the text in preference to the image. Get the part that catches the eye out of the way with left placement... The photo, not the text.
Showing a "Happy Customer" image for a self-published author is baffling me. Do I show a picture of somoene 'happy' reading the book that is self published? do I show a picture of the author? The goal of the website is to sell books that the author has written.

That's a great idea! Will do a follow up on that, stay tuned…
I was waiting for mobile
This would be greatly appreciated
@@WesMcDowellInc SO looking forward to this!
I was thinking the same.

FOr a photo site, I'd probably go with one of the multi image options so you can showcase more than just one photo in the hero. Cheers!

Wow, thank you!
Thanks Wes, I love this. It is super helpful. I think it will also help if you add links to the example websites.
These are great, thanks!
Man this is fire ... thank you so much
Glad you like it!
Super good explanation... Yep these hero or header image can actually work
Good content Wes!
Wes, those hero sections are beautiful and i think ive found more than a few gems here. Many thanks bro. Im signing up now.
Happy to help Mr Kenneth, cheers!
Great insights thanks for the heads up on the designs

Having these hero sections shown how it will look on mobile will be so great man, please think about it
It would be useful to show the mobile versions of these layouts.

There are beautiful man thanks!

Great video Wes. Are these wireframes available in Figma at all? Very useful starting points.
This is perfect 👍 is there a major difference in just creating this layout in pure html (super quick loading) vs Wordpress so it’s a bit easier to add a contact form or other useful plugins?
great stuff! :)
Thank you!
You have that Vestaboard!! That is on my wishlist. Immediate subscribe! Haha...
For an interior design website, would you recommend a hero image with a finished room or one with a person in the image in the finished room?
With people if it can be done in a natural non-cheesy way. otherwise just showing the goods is fine in that kind of case.
How to translate this designs to mobile? Maybe you can do next video about this?
My exact question.
I’ll do that one next time!
More! More! More!
Hey Wes, do you ever recommend an About Us video in the Hero section, or do you prefer it below the fold?
Always below the fold, ideally after youve established hte problem. Then YOU'RE the solution to the problem.
What layout would you recommend for product based businesses?
Mega 👍 what about mobile only Designs?
This is super helpful. I have a video playing (I’m a videographer) in my hero section, and feel it’s not helping me.
I might do some screen grabs and use the images in it instead. Unless you suggest something else!
IF you're a videographer, I'd tend to lean into video. It might be the words you're using that aren't connecting, or any number of other things.

Does anyone know if there’s a link to those wireframes shown on the video?🙏I think they have a very specific style that I really like and find simple.
Brilliant
Amazing. I am big fan 🇵🇰👍.
can I get these slides pdf, all these layouts? it will be really helpful while designing Website. thanks
Why did you not include the logo or name of the business anywhere on the hero section?
Bc that goes in the header bar on top
Hi Wes, also available in Europe? No link in my mailbox for a free masterclass.
Hi Wes loved your video as I love all of them the only thing I didn't like was the exterminator😢
Ha sorry bout that! Hope you guys are doing great!

how did you do that dolly zoom in the end-scene :p
Its just a zoom in added during editing :)
Please teach mobile layouts too. Most people are using mobile phones to surf websites and online shopping.
Yep, as Ive said in response to everyone else who said this, I'll get to it.
I wonder if he looks at websites and gives his advice? Im just getting into CRM and am building a website. Actually its a template and some advice would be nice!

Curious how these look on a phone screen
96% visitors are coming from mobile phone.. You should show mobile version.
First 🎉

I talk to service businesses not authors. So that advice really doesn’t apply to you.
Gee, as a UX Design professional, maybe I should create a video that actually we do use that is not just guessing at things to show people...

No no no... Your eyes naturally look to the right first so the picture should be on the left. Web 101
