The skin on my face is more sensitive than the skin on the rest of my body so if a moisturiser irritates me, I can usually repurpose it as a hand or body cream!
I would recommend to use the face stuff in the neck and breasts because it's already for that type of skin. ..And we want to have a beautiful face, but it has to be a beautiful face on a beautiful neck 😜 But if you really don't like that cream, everything it's good to get it finished 🎉
I think we should start with our favorites! It would be too sad to use something we don’t like, while our favorite goes bad! And also let’s be creative and use products in different ways! (Like if there’s a conditionner I don’t like I’ll use it as shaving cream, if there’s a lip balm I don’t like I use it as cuticle oil, meh face products on body etc) also organize spa days with friends, or makeup try ons! (In a sanitary way)
One of my favorite lipsticks used to be a decluttered shade from a friend! If you can do it in a way that feels safe and hygienic to you, passing products along can be really nice.
I like to use the products I don't like while I'm in between getting more of what I do like (I'm so forgetful that I have a habit of going into a store and immediately forgetting why I went).
I love ‘slow Sundays’ (spa days) with friends! It’s a great way to use it up while sharing the love and introducing different products that your friends might want to keep as a staple item.
I have been on a lip product no buy this year. I have only restocked on 1-2, and purchased 1 which I was influenced into and ended up not liking very much. I’ve finished 31 lip products so far this year! That includes lip balm, lip oils, and lip gloss. 😊 I’m going to keep going! It was hard at first but as time as gone on I’m more excited to use what I have than to purchase.
I don't wear any makeup- I'm a relatively masculine looking guy that found your channel because I keep up with fashion and like dressing nice- but I do cook. I think I'll be doing something similar with underutilized spices and sauces, thanks for the inspiration!
Love this. Just reminds me how a simple thing can get compounded. You buy the next cool makeup item (or anything else) and end up not using the stuff you have, but do that enough times and now your stuff is overflowing - then you start buying containers because you think you have an ‘organization problem’ instead of a ‘junk’ problem.
yes!! This is so true. You can feel like it's just an odd thing here and there. I found 10 things for this video that need using up and take up space, and there's other stuff in other categories too. It can definitely add up
Girl, you bought this stuff years ago. Sometimes we buy things that don't work out or our tastes change. Panning things you don't like is punishment, and makeup should be fun! You paid for it long ago, you used so much of them, you got your money's worth...it's okay to get rid of them.❤
If it’s something that’s gotten little use and can be sanitized (lipstick, powder products, things dispensed from a pump or tube, etc)I ask my friends if they want it. I’m usually able to get rid of most of it that way.
Some of us like finishing a product because we find it satisfying. There are things I give away like perfumes and Body sprays and some I want to use up as part of a project
I also like to use up a whole product to its entirety so I can remind myself how long it takes to use up an entire thing of blush, before I carelessly place an order for 3 holiday launch colors 😅
Its not always about getting your money's worth. Some of us find it satisfying to finish up an entire product. Especially make up products. My whole life I've only bee able to finish like 2-3 products before they went bad and the feeling of throwing the empty packaging away was way more satisfying than throwing away partially empty expired products(even tho i know I can't use them and there's no point in keeping them)
I decided to use some of my face cleansers that didn’t work for me to clean the inside of my toilet or the floor under my shower. If it’s too harsh on my face, might as well clean my bathroom :)
I live for this kind of project pan stuff! I always have one rolling , I keep a list on a journal keeping track about what I buy monthly and what I consume 😂 i can’t speak with no one about it ‘cause my friends are not really into makeup like me. So far this year I’ve finished 20 makeup products ( and 9 nail polishes ) and I’m so so so proud about it 😂😂😂 I think I can finish 3/4 more until the end of the year .
I'm actually panning my wardrobe of loungewear/homewear/sleepwear. It's been a few years and I should have taken photos but let's just say I'm wearing things to threads and then recycling the scraps.
Make up really lasts such a long time. I wish there were more tester/mini products so you can try them out for a week or so 😭 I'm into blush/lip tints and there almost never seems to be a mini size available
Something helpful to remember is that makeup can be used however you want! like the eyebrow pencil could be used as an eyeliner or brown lip liner. whatever works & could use it up faster!
For the vitamin C noisturizer, if you wanna finish it up, use it as a body moisturizer in a couple layers after a shower! There's no rule you have to use face creams only on your face!!! (Unless they have ingeedients that skin below the face cant handle which usually isnt the case.)
Yeah, I bought a Paula’s Choice vitamin c serum and it expired in 3 months. Even though I was using a generous dose, it was still like half full when it expired. They should just sell a half size version for half the price…
I kind of do this monthly with our food. It bothers me so much to waste food of any kind. I plan the menu and I do the cooking and my husband and my daughter know that end of the month menus are “clear the pantry” meals. I go over all the goods in the pantry and fridge to check expiration dates and do creative meal planning based on what needs to be eaten. Usually veggies like cauliflower (which my daughter isn’t the most fond of) that are last to be eaten, make it on the menu in creative ways. They never complain and they have actually requested the cauliflower nachos when it’s not pantry clear out lol. This helps to always be aware what you’re buying/eating and what gets tossed. And it gets your creative cooking juices flowing lol. I love this channel so much!❤❤❤
Honestly hats off to you for having the persistence to pan the moisturizer with a smell and texture you hate. I could never, that thing would be in the garbage so quickly. I think I might start a project pan for my hand creams, I have about eight tubes that have maybe three or four uses left and I just keep misplacing them around my house.
4:29 this part really spoke to me, lately I’ve been working my way through a lot of stuff that I tend to over-purchase (like skincare and tea) but my lip products tend to be too much for me to keep track of. I’ve been systematically trying to wear a different one everyday just to figure out for myself which are my favorites, what they look/feel like, and if any have gone off. Reminding myself what I have feels like an important step in preventing myself from buying more.
I am doing a very similar thing this year. I've accumulated a lot of lip products over the years. I put all my lip items in one place, and every time I leave the house, I choose one to apply and then put in my purse to take with me. I think this way I will get a better idea of what I actually enjoy wearing and what looks good on me and with my outfits. If I notice that I just don't like something, I throw it away without guilt. It is probably ridden with bacteria anyway, haha!
@ that’s a really good point! Doing this kind of roll call of your lip stuff not only reminds you of what you have but forces you to actually wear the things you might only think you like. I figure if I come across something I hate wearing that’s as good a reason to get rid of it as being expired.
I keep an open basket near my vanity (where I do my skincare and makeup) of products and samples that I need to use up. Since I keep my regular skincare and makeup in behind drawers and cabinets, I find I’m more likely to reach for the items in my “use up” basket.
Fabulous idea! I don’t personally wear makeup, but I do have quite a lot of half-finished tins of loose leaf tea. I’m sure I could use several up, now that the weather is turning!
I don’t wear a lot of makeup but I appreciate this idea still! I’m moving out of my house and across the country and we have a lot of random food items that need to be used up before we leave. This really makes me want to use up the stuff we have and reduce our waste before we leave.
We moved a few states away and during packing I looked over my makeup and tossed most of it. I couldn't remember when I used it last. Most of my products had dust on it. Unless you have a ton of money to do a pantry restock, don't get rid of all your foods. Trust me, I went through this one. Was hard before that first paycheck with moving bonus came in.
Same. My makeup collection is very minimal, but I love the concept here, especially with food. Another RUclipsr I follow does pantry clean-out videos where she uses up odds and ends in her fridge, freezer and cupboards, sometimes inventing new recipes as she goes. It's fun content.
@@Hecatate I’m totally with you there. unfortunately we’re moving from Virginia to Washington and driving with our stuff and 2 dogs so space is a very limited commodity. Otherwise I’d be bringing the food! When we moved from New Hampshire, I brought it all with us.
@@alexis_95474 I hear ya..we went from Louisiana to New Mexico. I am lucky to have a big Chest freezer, so we packed it full and dumped bagged ice on top...everything stayed frozen during the trip..in JUNE!...lol
Perfect time to remind us that we have stuff to use up😅😅😅... I definitely have quite a few things I'm behind on... I want to finish up a lip mask, 2 lip balms, a blush, a sheet mask set, 3 mascaras, 3 serums, a pH lip balm, 2 glosses, 2 lip oils, 2 highlighters and a lipstick .
i keep a pretty minimal stash of things in general but i'm using this video as a reminder to go thru my things more thoroughly, such as take everything out of my bathroom drawer or make up organizers to really see if i'm using everything. Even cleaning my products and reorganizing them makes me see them in a new light and want to use them more. So thanks for the inspo!
When I have moments for myself, I super clean the kitchen table and take out all my tea packets or all my coffee mugs and simply put them on the table to watch what I have, maybe discard something etc.. It relaxes me a lot 😊❤
I am here from your project pan days!😁 Before the end of the year I want to finish some nettle tea that I have had a while, a self-tan that is even older than that and a red semi-permanent hair dye that is past the first flush of youth.
I started doing this a month ago! I don't have a lot of beauty products but I don't like having doubles (like owning 2 foundations or 2 bodylotions at the same time) so I started using my things up to get rid of the products that I already have one of. It's so satisfying using something up that has been taking space up in your drawers!
true :D it's funny cause I am not a candle hoarder, I have exactly 4 candles that have been given to me and I already feel like I have too many! Gonna burn them until the end of the year for sure.
"we're gonna use it, well I'M gonna use it, it's not like we can collectively use it" I mean we can cut it up in tiny square and each have a tiny square of moisturized skin, it's better than nothing
I found a girl to donate items to on a "NO BUY" site . I reach out to her and see if she wants my gently used beauty products. I also use skincare on my body that I am not super hip about. I hate waste and love your content. We don't need half the junk that we consume and it's out of control with the influencer content. Thanks for being amazing! XOXO
I love project panning and using up stuff! I've been doing a similar thing right now because i'm allowing myself to purchase a beauty advent calendar this year (lumene 90€, not a crazy expensive one) from a brand i really like and it mainly has skincare in it. So i wanna use up what i already have and not replace them because i'm getting a bunch of products with the calendar. That way i won't be overwhelmed by stuff and i also will be saving money by using up what i have.
Btw, a sheet mask lover here. Usually the serum is more than enough and you don't need a moisturizer on top of that. There's also a lot of serum in those packets usually that i get 2-3 more days by of taking the serum out with a brush and using up every last bit like that. But i get if you don't wanna do that!! Just what i do :)
I go through my whole collection around once a month and see what I feel inspired to wear, and do a pretty good job passing along things that don’t work for me. I think I’m about to be done with 5 lipsticks that I actually enjoyed using and wasn’t trying to pan! I get really overwhelmed when I see too many things, so having a capsule collection of 3-4 base products, 5-6 cheek options, and a theme to follow for eyes and lips that’s more prone to change helps me narrow down what looks I want to do. The rest I store in a dark drawer so it’s more protected, and if I really want to have a particular thing I know where it is 😂
Oh things I have found to help use things that are not quite the right shade- Foundation- I have a range since I can be a variety of shades through the year, so I have favorites that I know mix well so I can custom adjust. I also have a sheer bb cream to make things more sheer, and a glow balm in case something looks too matte. I have made a big dent in foundation this way. Lips- lipliner for things that are a bit too light, grey lipstick for ones that are too bright, black lipgloss for that purpose too. Depotting my many rituel de fille compacts into a vueset so I can custom mix or see things at a glance and not have the bulky same looking packaging to sort through. Highlighter I mix in with body cream if I want a glowy product instead of buying a devoted shimmer body oil/lotion. Skincare I have a good idea of what works for me and about how long I take to use up, I tend to pass on what doesn’t work to my roommate or his friend and I get more enjoyment out of that than trying to force myself to use something up I don’t like.
I discovered your channel because YT recommended one of your project pan videos to me. I highly recommend taking pictures of your makeup every once in a while to see the progress. I think that's really satisfying, especially if you don't project pan and therefore don't have a lot of visible progress from month to month, but from one year to the next it might be visible. I have always been very conscious of not buying functional dupes and keeping my collection small but versatile, so I never thought a classic project pans would make sense for me. But I'm doing Deck of Panning this year to gamify my makeup usage. I've also tracked my organic makeup usage for a few years now with a soft goal of 5 uses each per product (I count usage for each pan individually)
I always loooove your project pan videos because they motivate me to make good use of my own makeup and skincare! So here's hoping you enjoy this project pan and do more next year ❤ Oh, and I keep an Excel spreadsheet tracking my beauty products 😂
I appreciate this message so much! I've been seriously stressed, for a variety of reasons, and I deal with stress by shopping. My specific obsession at the moment is eyeshadow, and I've purchased so much recently that I can't even imagine how I could use it all. Actually, I never even intended to use it all ... those giant palettes have so much product, and I'll use mayyybe 4-6 shades out of 18. I recently bought one of the expensive Patrick Ta eyeshadow duos and wondered if it's better to buy an expensive duo product I'm more likely to hit pan on or spend the same amount for a big palette that I'll only use a few shades out of? So, I know the answer is to stop buying entirely for a while, but my coping mechanism blinds me to remember it. Thanks for the reminder to use what I have!
Yay for Project Pan! I've already finished my "24 in '24" project, and now I'm doing a "12 Pans of Christmas" one, since I've got lots of stuff nearing its end and figured I might as well get 12 more empties in before the year is up. Plus, it'll help me get a head start on next year's panning. I'm feeling good about my usage rate this year.
I'm inspired! It won't be makeup though. I work from home and even though my fantasy is to wake up and do my face and put on a cute outfit everyday, it just ain't gonna happen. But I definitely have some skincare stuff I could finish by January.
Always appreciate a good reminder to use up what I have instead of feeling the need to buy new products -- feels like the newest ones are always in our faces, doing new (the same) things and fancier packaging. Thank you!
Yesssss this inspires me to finish the things that are staring at me in the cabinet. 🎉 Maybe I’ll make a few “everything” showers where I do a mask, hair mask, etc etc to power through things at once. Lol
Hi Shawna! Dermatologists don't recommend putting vit C and retinol on at the same time becuase their different pH levels cancel each other out, making both products less effective. That's why it's recommended to do vit C in the morning and retinol at night (also bc sunlight can make retinol less effective) Also for paper face masks, I will sometimes do them right before bed, while watching something on TV or just doing my daily scroll. They are essentially serums with a barrier (in the paper sheet) to help it stay wet longer (the idea being that if it dries slowly, it can penetrate deeper into the skin). So yeah, take off the paper, let the serum dry, and layer on the rest of your nighttime routine.
@moozaa2974 i had to do this with a random coral lipstick i bought on a whim. I added a nude to tone down the colour.. manually...it took ages to swirl the colours. But i made a shade i liked and it still took all summer. Lesson learned. I am off coral glosses for life.
I started using up my face masks as just an in shower face cleanser, they work fine. Like you I don't really like sitting around with stuff on my face but people keep gifting them to me 😅 I panned my Elf eyebrow gel recently which was so satisfying!
I have an idea! 💡 Why not just take a bin and collect all the bottles/packages of the products, we've used up and then analyse at the end of the year? Im sure there'll be surprisingly little 😅 like 2-3 lipstics, 1 foundation and 2-3 facial cream packages
I use this time of year to inspect every single product i have , i products i love , the ones i like , the ones i dont and etc. and work on that ! Love the concept and the video ❤
Oh i like this idea, i dont wear makeup but i have other products i have that have been sitting around needing to be used. Idk why i didnt really think about the end of the year as a goal to use some products up to clear up space.
There are only a few things I'd be able to use in two months but I'm down for a project pan for next year myself. Not just cosmetic, when you said coffee/tea I immediately remembered my tea stock that I have barely touched😅... But also crafting/art supplies... Yes, I think this is a good time to prep for a no buy/project pan 2025.
Love sheet masks! Clean your face and put it on for 15 mins whilst watching TV or making a tea (they can be faffy to unfold I’ll admit). But normally there’s so much product you don’t need any moisturiser after. Can just rub it in and leave it on overnight.
I love this channel for normalizing normal consumption. 😩 Didn't realize how much I needed this kind of content because almost no one in my daily life is like this. Question if anyone in the comments can help: I should have known better not to buy eyeliner as someone who wears next to no makeup, but... I bought an eyeliner pencil a year(ish) ago that I have no intention of using up. 😬 I used it maybe 3 times. Are there any creative ways to use up an eyeliner pencil that don't involve actually putting it on your face?
Eyeliner pencil is great for any kind of body art, not just eyeliner. I used to use it to write reminders or just doodle on my arms because it’s easy to wash off but still clear/obvious enough to write with.
depending on the kind of eyeliner you could use it for art or journaling purposes. I used an eyeliner in my art journal to help finish it up. Eyeliner can also (depending on the colour/formula) be used as eyeshadow, or for making faux freckles if you were interested in finding alternate makeup related ways to use it. If you sew, you could potentially use it for marking fabric? That could be worth a try.
You are such a natural beauty. ❤ I am elderly, and just use a very light touch of a few products. I have used the same philosophy on my pantry and household products and feel quite pleased with the results.
Hi love, with the Browliner you can use it as an eyeliner, lipliner too and blend it with the light lipstick and see if change the amount of colour it´s of your liking, useless or more depending on your taste.... By the way you´re sooooo right when you said that our taste in thing change, I´m 38 y/o and man !!!!! It´s like ... I don´t even used the same nail polish anymore, or the same perfume soooo I bought new thing and the old ones stay FOREVER in the closet. the beauty of this it´s lo acknowlegde the change and be aware of oneself when I´m about buy something
I found you through project panning! I am still panning but I have shifted to also working on rotating through my blushes and I think I need to do this with lipsticks, face palettes and anything I own over 5 of to keep getting use! I did this with singles and palettes this year. One of the areas I am focusing on is fragrance samples, fragrances in general and stationery and teas. Those are fun.
Ugh! I wanted to shop the Sephora sale so bad. I had $200 of hair care in my cart (ridiculous because that was only three items of Kerastase) I emptied it and I’m determined to use up the products I have.
This is a great reminder. I have a stash of those small shampoos and soaps from hotels all around the world. I hate those with all my heart, but I usually take them (because I heard they have to throw them away anyway) and stash them for guests or for traveling. But I have way too many of those; I have to use them up.
I haven’t been wearing a ton of makeup as of late. I was such a makeup girly years ago. Things are changing rn. I have unsubscribed from a ton of beauty/fragrance content for now. We’ll see how this goes!
Your old project panning videos were awesome 💯 I'm joining in this time. Aim to finish all my oldest skincare, nail polish and lip products. Also, love the brows and jacket!!!! 😘🥳
I have such a funny habit of hitting pan or getting to the end of a shampoo, then buying a new similar product while the near empty just sits there taking up space. I do this with everything including food! This video is helpful, I’m going to make a real effort to actually finish things. 😊
I'm doing a no buy this month, and you've inspired me to try to use up some products while I'm at it. I also have some First Aid Beauty samples/minis to use - a face cleanser and a firming collagen cream. I'm also going to use up a NARS sample primer and a Clarins mini face cleanser. I probably have others! I had an Ipsy subscription for a bit, so I have way too many mini products, even after giving a ton of them away.
I use face creams I don’t like on my body/feet 😅 Also, at some point I got a few Bath & Body Works body mists as presents and I don’t really like to use them on my body. So, I use them as air freshener in my washroom. They smell better than regular air fresheners, and they’re literally ENDLESS. I haven’t purchased a replacement for a while. So proud of myself.
Re: using things you don't like on your face as body lotion. Most sunscreen is basically a moisturizer, so if one feels bad about throwing that away (provided you like the texture and smell,) use it as body lotion. This summer I used up all my just-about-to-expire Kinship sunscreen as body sunscreen in one trip to the waterpark. Beats tossing it!
You can use most face washes for your intimate area, especially if they are unscented, and if you don't like your deodorant you can use it for your feet instead of your armpits. Another thing is to mix several shower gels in one bottle, or in as few bottles as possible, to reduce the visual clutter; then they can be used as not only shower gel but hand soap and just to clean all sorts of things; for instance, to give reusable period pads a quick rinse before putting them in the washing machine.
So excited for this video - i really love your personal project videos & using things up! I am going to use some fancy eye mask patches and hopefully this Ordinary conditioner I bought this month and really don't like. I'm like you and hate to waste product, otherwise I would throw it away. I am using it as a shave cream and mixing with a deep conditioner on my hair just to try to power through using it up. 😊
So here’s a newbie question, if you hate the product (wrong color, doesn’t work, etc) why not give it away or throw it away and not buy a replacement. I know the whole point is to reduce waste but if you dread a product, why would you use it?
Make up isn’t generally safe to give away if it’s been used. If the pan or applicators have been in contact with your skin, it’s no longer hygienic and could transfer infection.
I think the community is split on this. Some people would say throw it away, give it away, or repurpose it somehow. I'd agree with that if the thing is giveaway-able. However, a lot of my stuff is old....and I mean old old and would not feel comfortable doing that. So, if the item is useable I try to find someway to use it. Sometimes I can't and cut my losses.
I recently decided to use my wine red lipstick as a blush, when I saw the new Nyx blushes. I really wanted to buy the dark red one but because I don't need such a big amount and the lipstick doesn't work like it should on the lips, I gave it a try. It works and I am happy
Maybe you can use up face moisturiser by putting it on your hands or feet for example? I do this every time) sorry my english is not so good.. anyway, love your channel 💗
I've been working on using things up since before I moved a few months ago! Packing really made it easy to take stock of everything I had, and categorize it as needed ie. Toss/keep/use asap Still working on it, but I've managed to finish off quite a few things so far 😊
i think for me it would need to be nail polish top coats... I went through a big... not really declutter but a check in with my nailpolish bin and I ended up throwing out 6 polishes that were over 5 years old because the formula just wasn't aging well. But in the process i realized i had a bunch of thick topcoats just floating around.
I went through all my bags yesterday and I found 4 lip balms, 3 pens, 2 new notebooks, a brand new hand cream and COUNTLESS tissue handkerchiefs packets: using them!!!! 😊❤
Would love to see your makeup collection iventory :) I love it as an alternative to project pan in a way, especially when creator does it every quarter or twice a year, you can see things that were added to collection or used up (aka the same way Too Much Tash does it)
Hi!!! I work at Sephora and we have a bin in a lot of locations where you can bring in your finished and cleaned products to get recycled. There should be more guidelines online or in stores if that helps at all
I like the idea of this because I hate to waste things, but I'd caution to use what you like first. Don't let things go bad while you're using up the old/almost expired stuff you don't really like. My mom used to do that and I swear she never ate food that wasn't almost stale/bad/rotten. The fresh stuff sat there while the old stuff was consumed. If you just once in a while throw out or give away what you don't like (my friends will take it, or sometimes their young kids will use it to play with!) you will get much more enjoyment out of it. Worst case, donate it to a mortuary for their makeup artists to use.
For the sheetmask- You usally use it before going to bed or when you don't have to put makeup on top of it so you don't have to put anything on top of it. You can do it tho if you want to
Thanks to your channel, I recently went around my makeup bag and decluttered a bunch of expired lipsticks and lipsticks in odd colours I know I'll never actually use again. I LOVE putting on lipstick, it's just that my makeup bag is stored away because my bathroom is too small to have it around... So I took a few of my oldest ones (that I very much like but fear are gonna go bad eventually) and put them in the bathroom to start using them up. So thank you for this!!!
I’ve had a project pan going for the whole year, and girlllll I am SICK of some of these makeup items lol. This was good motivation for a last good push for the end of the year, but I think I’m going to rotate out the products that lasted the whole year in Jan so I can give other stuff some love. I am also trying to use up the one millionnnn tea bags I have. I’m not a huge fan of hot drinks so I’ve been making pitchers of iced tea
Hi Shawna! The algorithm offered one of your videos to me around a week ago and I’ve been binge watching your channel. I like how you bring up the importance of consuming less and criticise those who promote overconsumption without being mean. You’re a gem.
I had to learn this the hard way and regift items that I hated. Now I’ll never buy anything with “rose” in it or “vitamin c”, it just makes my skin break out like crazy for whatever reason!!!
The way that K18 mini from 2020 haunts me 😢 and then I went and bought a full size at Marshall’s when I was on a product higher from my initial few uses because * gotta have a backup * and here we are almost 5 years later and she’s still in the box 😂
Sometimes I come to conclusion I will never finish this product 😮 I keep it for a little longer and if not used I let it go. I keep a list of I didn’t like this product and have become picky about what I buy for makeup. So much new stuff but what I have is used and liked, do I need something new? I’m learning to really process all these new items and think it’s gimmicky stuff 😢
omg I watched a while ago a video like this from you and I am going through my lip sticks and glosses. I have gone through two lip balms that had color and were like half way through, and right now I'm almost done with a lip gloss!
How do you have products last you so long without going bad? My lip products start to smell weird after a couple months. I do leave them in my pockets for easily reapplication so maybe my body heat makes them go bad faster??
I've been watching your videos maybe for over a month or two so I didn't see your previous pan projects but this is great! With this whole overconsumption shit going on everywhere I've been wanting to do something like that, so thank you for inspiration! Def, I do the same, I have little of product left and it's left forever :< Espiecially if I like it and buy a new one! But pls girl, I hope you'll see this, just throw away the NYX primer. You said it's at least 2 years - samples usually have shorter lifespan so in best case it can do nothing or be terrible base, in worst case you can have breakouts/irritation. It's just not worth it. Hourglass eyeshadow? I bet it was expensive but if you have it already for couple of years (maybe it's hyperbole) it can also be sketchy and give you unpleasant effects. I understand if you keep using it and it's fine, but be careful. I hate throwing away stuff but sometimes it's nothing we can do - you used it whatever amount you're able
this is fascinating to me because we have such a different approach to product use. most of the ones you showed I would probably already consider empties 😅 and if a product doesn’t work for me, I either gift it or chuck it if it’s old. life’s too short to try using up a 5 year old lipstick nub that you don’t even love (imo).
use facial skincare that you don't like on your body... you'll go through product much faster but at least it's being used up.
The skin on my face is more sensitive than the skin on the rest of my body so if a moisturiser irritates me, I can usually repurpose it as a hand or body cream!
@@eleanor_georgina I do this as well.
How did I never think about it :o absolutely going to do that now
Yes! I moisturize the backs of hands every night with unused facial moisturizer.
I would recommend to use the face stuff in the neck and breasts because it's already for that type of skin. ..And we want to have a beautiful face, but it has to be a beautiful face on a beautiful neck 😜
But if you really don't like that cream, everything it's good to get it finished 🎉
@Jess_Smith0903 right😂
Its not always about getting your money's worth. Some of us find it satisfying to finish up an entire product. Especially make up products. My whole life I've only bee able to finish like 2-3 products before they went bad and the feeling of throwing the empty packaging away was way more satisfying than throwing away partially empty expired products(even tho i know I can't use them and there's no point in keeping them)
I use any skincare I don't like as bodycare. It has a way higher surface area than your face, so the products are finished in a snap!
I do this too!
I decided to use some of my face cleansers that didn’t work for me to clean the inside of my toilet or the floor under my shower. If it’s too harsh on my face, might as well clean my bathroom :)
The same for shampoos I didn't love, they become body washes
I use old serums on my freshly shaved legs 😂
I live for this kind of project pan stuff! I always have one rolling , I keep a list on a journal keeping track about what I buy monthly and what I consume 😂 i can’t speak with no one about it ‘cause my friends are not really into makeup like me. So far this year I’ve finished 20 makeup products ( and 9 nail polishes ) and I’m so so so proud about it 😂😂😂 I think I can finish 3/4 more until the end of the year .
You've used up a lot! Good job! ❤
Wow. I’m inspired
Ulta & Amazon has mini lipsticks , blushes, etc.
I love this channel so much!❤❤❤
I need to do that! We have so much in our pantry
I love that you're doing this and finding it helpful! I love this side effect of panning!
@@Roxannedansame! I threw out some this week 😂
The random food is a great idea! I've done tea in the past and had great fun with that. Hopefully you can find some odds and ends to use!
I quit wearing makeup, but i still have some. I decided to use it up. Its so satisfying to finish something!
yay for finishing up your makeup! It really is so satisfying 😊
😅😅
Never heard of a pan project before. Think I'll try this with stationery sticker sheets. I have barely any makeup.
I do this with my shein stickers. I try to finish 3 packs for every 1 I buy.😂
i keep a pretty minimal stash of things in general but i'm using this video as a reminder to go thru my things more thoroughly, such as take everything out of my bathroom drawer or make up organizers to really see if i'm using everything.
It relaxes me a lot 😊❤
i love that you're toughing it out, i hate when people throw stuff away just cause they don't wanna use it anymore. it's so wasteful!
Candle hoarders, you also need to do this 😅
I have 6-7 candles to use up 😅
However it’s really important to open a window and/or a fan during/after burning because of all the micro particles!!
@@Username0467 you did not need to call me out like that lol 😅😅😅
true :D it's funny cause I am not a candle hoarder, I have exactly 4 candles that have been given to me and I already feel like I have too many! Gonna burn them until the end of the year for sure.
I have a body scrub, why did i buy it, shouldn't have, but I am almost done with it! Will not rebuy! Cant wait to finish it!
ouuu body scrubs usually come in big containers that are VERY satisfying to finish
I got one as a gift, not something I would buy for myself I’m determined to use it up!
Those Sephora sheet masks are my fave. I find that when I use the moisturizing ones, I don’t need to moisturize after.
I actually think I found you by looking for project pan content... Time flies. ❤
thank you for being here 💕
"we're gonna use it, well I'M gonna use it, it's not like we can collectively use it" I mean we can cut it up in tiny square and each have a tiny square of moisturized skin, it's better than nothing
😂😂 could you imagine i cut it up and mail everyone a tiny piece of face mask
@@shawnaripari 📣merch everybody 📣
I found a girl to donate items to on a "NO BUY" site . I reach out to her and see if she wants my gently used beauty products. I also use skincare on my body that I am not super hip about. I hate waste and love your content. We don't need half the junk that we consume and it's out of control with the influencer content. Thanks for being amazing! XOXO
Oh a lil project pan! 😍 I totally understand why you stopped doing them, but I can't help loving watching these videos 😅 thanks for the treat!
The rest I store in a dark drawer so it’s more protected, and if I really want to have a particular thing I know where it is 😂
Oh things I have found to help use things that are not quite the right shade-
Foundation- I have a range since I can be a variety of shades through the year, so I have favorites that I know mix well so I can custom adjust.
So here's hoping you enjoy this project pan and do more next year ❤
Oh, and I keep an Excel spreadsheet tracking my beauty products 😂
A face mask can be used in place of a serum. You can moisturize after.
I love seeing a new Shawna video!! The work you do is so valuable, thank you for sharing your voice!
Using up face cleaners and moisturizers
I'm inspired! It won't be makeup though. I work from home and even though my fantasy is to wake up and do my face and put on a cute outfit everyday, it just ain't gonna happen. But I definitely have some skincare stuff I could finish by January.
Always appreciate a good reminder to use up what I have instead of feeling the need to buy new products -- feels like the newest ones are always in our faces, doing new (the same) things and fancier packaging. Thank you!
Your project pan videos have helped me to use up all sorts of products and has kept me from buying more of what I already have.
Yesssss this inspires me to finish the things that are staring at me in the cabinet. 🎉
Maybe I’ll make a few “everything” showers where I do a mask, hair mask, etc etc to power through things at once. Lol
Hi Shawna! Dermatologists don't recommend putting vit C and retinol on at the same time becuase their different pH levels cancel each other out, making both products less effective. That's why it's recommended to do vit C in the morning and retinol at night (also bc sunlight can make retinol less effective)
Also for paper face masks, I will sometimes do them right before bed, while watching something on TV or just doing my daily scroll. They are essentially serums with a barrier (in the paper sheet) to help it stay wet longer (the idea being that if it dries slowly, it can penetrate deeper into the skin). So yeah, take off the paper, let the serum dry, and layer on the rest of your nighttime routine.
Been hate panning an essence lip balm & another gloopy NYX butter gloss. Both are pink which I don't like anymore.
That's a good idea, I still have some from when I got a subscription box, and I never use them.
I have an idea! 💡 Why not just take a bin and collect all the bottles/packages of the products, we've used up and then analyse at the end of the year? Im sure there'll be surprisingly little 😅 like 2-3 lipstics, 1 foundation and 2-3 facial cream packages
Project panning is the best!
@@crollo321 These are such good ideas, thank you. 🥹
depending on the kind of eyeliner you could use it for art or journaling purposes.
@@shawnaripari It's time to get crafty. 🤔 Thank you Shawna 🫶
Ohhh Great ideas! 👀 You've inspired me to draw a kitten using an older eyeliner 🐈🐾
Love this! I've been replacing my usual beauty products with all cruelty-free ones so this is a perfect goal.
I’ve been around since your makeup and project pan content and I’ve missed it so much!! Thanks for bringing it back please bring more!❤😊
your vids make my day better thank u queen keep it up
I'm doing a no buy this month, and you've inspired me to try to use up some products while I'm at it.
I have been working on panning lip products this year, specifically lip gloss! It is satisfying to watch them settle lower in the tube each month.
I use face creams I don’t like on my body/feet 😅
Also, at some point I got a few Bath & Body Works body mists as presents and I don’t really like to use them on my body.
@ thank you for responding! That makes so much more sense. I’ll have to go thru my stuff this weekend and see what’s going on
I recently decided to use my wine red lipstick as a blush, when I saw the new Nyx blushes.
Toss/keep/use asap
Still working on it, but I've managed to finish off quite a few things so far 😊
i think for me it would need to be nail polish top coats...
i love this idea! im going to pick out my own products for my own project pan!
Yay! A project pan!
I usually find sheet masks hydrating enough with all the extra serum in the packet that I can skip moisturizer for the night
Yassss the project pan is back!!
I thi k this is a great idea. I think I'm going to go through my stuff and see what I can potentially pan by then end of the year😊
Hi Shawna! The algorithm offered one of your videos to me around a week ago and I’ve been binge watching your channel. I like how you bring up the importance of consuming less and criticise those who promote overconsumption without being mean. You’re a gem.
Thanks so much for being here and I'm glad you're enjoying my channel
Shawna, I don’t know if you’ve worn this jacket/sweater before (I’m new to the channel), but it looks sooooo cool! It’s so unique! I love it!
if i were you, i would throw out that moisturizer lol. you clearly hate it, why torture yourself that much haha
Message to everyone wanting to buy a plumping lipgloss/lipstick: don't buy anything with chili in it, the usage will be painful and it tastes weird 😭
I always panned my skincare and make up.
omg I watched a while ago a video like this from you and I am going through my lip sticks and glosses.
