I worked in Iraq for 6 years during the war as a contractor and continued my work in Afghanistan for another 12 years till it ended. Everywhere I traveled, I brought some cigars with me. After a long stressful day, I and my fellow contractors would sit around a picnic table and smoke cigars and talk about our day, talk about home, talk about anything.. it gave us a chance to wind down. I am still living and working in the Middle East and once a week I and my buddies get together and have a nice Dominican or Cuban cigar and catch up. Smoking cigars is more than just smoking.. it's a "moment" that only those who have experienced it can understand.
I worked as a contractor as well in that part of the world, and some in south America. I worked for a company called blackwater witch are named something else now. We would smoke a good cigar after been out in the field when we can. I took a bunch with me, naturally they didnt last very long. I like this guy alot, i am retired now and i just like to ride horses and smoke good cigars. anyway i thought i would say hello, i dont hear from contractors alot on here.

Oliva V was my first cigar ever. It got me hooked. There are so many great $5 cigars. People even think that is expensive, but then they will go to the bar and buy a $10 drink that lasts 10 minutes.

I even share a few talks on my fb page. I don’t usually get any response and my followers probably think I’ve finally gone mad, lol! I lost my wife last Aug to cancer and with her health decline I lost just a about everything I owned. I now am living in a trailer on a little piece of land trying to prepare for the harsh winters that we get here in Ontario just below Algonquin park. I find that listening to one of these talks each morning to start my day while I roast and drink my coffee is so very grounding and I wouldn’t have it any other way. You got it right on the money. And if you’re smoking a cigar to impress somebody then you’re doing for the wrong reasons. New to cigars and new to your channel, but I’m really enjoying both! From my own experience, there are so many pretentious people/RUclipsrs out there who really just turn me off. But You’re one of the few humble, down to earth guys discussing cigars, and I’m grateful for what you’re doing. Keep up the good work. Cheers, brother.
Yeah I've smoked through a few bundles of the factory smokes by Drew Estate, they're something anyone can enjoy daily just a pleasant cigar, another bundle ciagr that's pretty good is Quorum and Havana Q is one of many personal favorites
I'm currently listening to this while rolling my own cigars. Awesome wisdom you share. I absolutely love the way you explain cigars, how they are enjoyed, and what they embody.
Encore! Love these videos! Hardwork, Cigars, and relaxation is a good portion of my life today. Glad to see someone with those values/hobbies with such wisdom that's willing to share it.
Well said. Long time cigar smoker here. Being truthful all cigars regardless of quality really tap out at 20 dollars. Meaning if you are smoking a cigar that isn’t vintage( meaning aged in a humidor for years) that costs more than 20 dollars you honestly are just paying for the name. My personal preference of price is anywhere from 3 dollars to 8 dollars a cigar (online prices by the box prices) and in brick and mortar? 5 to 12 dollars a cigar. There are some of my absolute favorites that are 15 to 20 but I save those for special occasions as I can’t afford cigars at that price as a daily smoke. Price point vs Quality? My personal favorite brand is Perdomo cigars. Fantastic cigars that are affordable to me.
Can’t go wrong with an Oliva V 👍 Some of the best cigars I’ve ever had have been inexpensive or mid-range when it comes to price. And the Charter Oaks are also phenomenal for the price as well. Love this content, thank you!
Do like the aroma, for some reason all V series expect robusto and Churchill started to push tar mid smoking, but got fixed when I cut the tar part off.
@@akuthelazy7342 oh yeah I’ve had that happen before, tar buildup is no fun! I can’t say I remember it happening much with this blend but it does happen with more full-bodied smokes which the V definitely is for my palate. You’re doing the right thing by just cutting off a little bit more or if I have a napkin, I’ll just dab it a little so it doesn’t get in my mouth lol
@Cigar Hound Dog Agreed. Love a Robusto, about 45 minutes to an hour. Consistent draw, consistent full flavor of that broken in leather and spicy goodness. After a couple of months or so in the humidor, they get noticeably better even.
Good Afternoon Sir, I’m a young officer in the Navy(early twenties) and I just want to say that watching your videos have helped me tremendously as I navigate my way through life. The world is always moving so fast and it’s hard as a working young man to slow down and find peace. When I drive to work in the early mornings I like to turn your videos on and reflect. As someone who grew up in the south I find that I can really relate to your philosophies and thought process. It makes me feel at home even when I’m across seas. Again, thank you for standing for something positive and real. I’m sure young men and women all across the country appreciate it as much as I have.
I was enjoying my quorum when my brother send me this video. Now im a big fan and subscriber to your channel. Thank you very much for your work and sharing with us the way of being a good man. God bless you and your family!
I've only ever smoked a cigar twice. The first one was at a wedding. Took me 6 hours to smoke it but I really enjoyed it. The second time was at an evening with some University friends. IT was our last evening together, so we decided to have a fancy diner all dressed up, then go to the pub and have ourselves a brandy and a cigar. Great night. Both experiences really made me appreciate cigars. It's not something I do with any kind of regularity but I discovered some E-cigars (from XVXvape) and bought one, it really brought back some memories of those times.
I bought my first pack of Toscanello Macchiato awhile ago. I tried multiple other cigars, many premium, gave some decent money on Cohibas, Monte Cristos, Davidoff's. 'Can't say I didn't like any of them, but Toscanello remained my absolute favorite. in Serbia, they cost $7.50-pack of 5. Great point as always!
Sr. greeting from Baytown, TX. Like many others, I came across your videos while searching for new cigar videos. Just want to say that I agree completely with your presentation. Cigars, friends, conversation, fireplace, outdoors....heaven. God bless you Sr. keep up the great work.
i ve been following your videos for awhile my friend am very impressed wit your logical approach to both horses and life im a 65 year old sheetmetal worker slash wanna be cowboy love my cowboy action shooting and old west firearms . the wife and i have owned horses and trail rode for bout 14 years now and aint nothing makes my universe right like sitting in the saddle on a good horse with a good cuban cigar and a flask of 20 year old canadian whiskey within easy reach in my saddle bags i appreciate all your insight philosophy and interesting videos keep up the great work
Well I didn't watch this for the cigars. I quit tobacco years ago. I came just to hear what you had to say. Your video on coffee kept popping up, so I said ok I'll watch it. Then I watched another of your videos. And I think that by the third or fourth video I said to myself ; this guy knows what he's talking about. I've been shoeing horses since 1977 and learned alot about communicating with them. Not everyone gets it. I like your common sense approach in every video. Just watched "God's round pen" and loved it. Needless to say, I subscribed to your channel, and will be following it.
Fresh cigars that are stored at the correct temperature and humidity are key regardless of price. Shops that have fast turnover and a good humidor makes a huge difference. A cute, dark skin check-out girl makes the experience even better
Someone that gets it. Don't have to be cigars, it could be anything that brings you profound peace and reflection. And mostly definitely allowing one to appreciate the simple things in this life.
I had a friend who had a relative from Cuba coming for a visit and he brought me a box of Partagus cigars from Havana. They were incredible. I got them for $100 for the box. They were so soft and moist. Wish I could get another box.
Long time cigar smoker here. Man, this is some great content. I haven’t heard this advise on any of the other cigar centric sources. Keep up the great work. Every new smoker should hear this. It will encourage a lot more to partake versus hating what they don’t understand.
I agree with ya on what's a good cigar ....just started watching your videos a few days ago....for supper this evening my lovely bride and myself cooked up your eggs, sausage, and onions on tortilla....added some bell pepper....woo-hoo!! Fine vittles!!...thank you for the videos....
Greetings from North Dakota to you and your bride. I'm very happy to have found your channel. I grew up ranching in South West Idaho and everything that goes with it. I have been watching your video's and agree with your teachings. I would enjoy hearing stories about greenhorns and the situations they put themselves and others into on trails. Great lessons to learn from. Keep up the good work.
Man I am so glad I found your channel! Love horses and cigars! Can’t wait to hear more about Tennessee, because ohio isn’t that bad of a drive… you are a great American!
You have one of the greatest mustaches I’ve ever seen. My mustache is getting to that level, but not quite there. You give me inspiration to continue to grow it and not cut it despite my wife’s complaints. Thank you.
Cigar prices at 4:12. If you have a cigar you love at $5 a piece that is wonderful. In Canada we can still import Cubans. However they do get pricey. Some of the good ones are well over $80 CAD. I have smoked some that are over $400 due to the rarity and quality. It is definitely not a hobby for the poor man. In the long term find a cigar that works for you price wise. And do not get into debt buying boxes in bulk. If a single one is all you afford so be it. The best part is the leisure time you get from cigars. You can relax since there is a time commitment to smoking the entire cigar. It is even more enjoyable with friends and a good single-malt.
Sitting on my patio smoking a Gurkha which I find a bit spicy for my usual taste, but very enjoyable. While I have my own supply, my brother in law gave me this one as a gift. A true gift because it gives me a nice little break from a diy project of mine. What I’m trying to say is that your video is so very timely! Thank you Duane!
I feel like I’m every video you put up there is always a lesson I can take outside of the exact topic you are speaking on. Here I see that quality isn’t just about a price it’s about quality itself and it can be any price. Price is not guarantee of quality and enjoying what you find to be the best regardless of price is important. It applies to a lot. Thanks for help today Dewayne!
Thank you for talking about this. Those are the guys who leave the cigar bands on while they smoke them. I smoke cigars for taste, not to show off the brand.
I like these: La Aroma de Cuba Edicion Especial, My Father Flor de Las Antillas, E.P. Carrillo Pledge, La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Reserva, La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor, My Father Le Bijou 1922, My Father La Opulencia. These are all really good smokes.
That Oliva V is a FINE cigar. Great video as usual! I'd also like to recommend the Fuente 858 Maduro. Inexpensive cigar that is probably the finest in it's respective price range.
You are a breath of fresh air, Mr. Dry creek you have given me a new perspective on this cigar kick i just started about 2 months ago. Thank you. I agree the charter oak is nice. I just tried and really, really enjoyed a Rocky Patel vintage 1992. It's a $12 stick but soft on the pallet.
Greetings from Montana Another great video I love the My Father Tabacos Baez $3 Robusto as my go to Also Factory Smokes, Quorum and Arturo Fuente Curly head are great every day smoke. If I feel a sweet tooth another JC Newman cigar Trader Jacks Also love my mid shelf cigars My father’s, Perdomo, Oliva , Drew Estate Liga. I don’t get a huge variety in the town I live in. Shout out to Texas cigar roadshow enjoy the leaf grow the culture
It’s cool to know you’re in Grand Prairie. My family and I love your videos and are close by in Wylie tx. Love the horsemanship advice, and the cigar videos! Keep it up!
Hello Dwayne, let me start off by saying I really enjoy your channel there is a lot of wisdom to be found in your videos. I have an uncle who owns a couple of plow horses that can be ridden also so my wife and I enjoy taking them out on the property but we are both definitely novice and the horses seem to know that so they treat us with kid gloves they are that gentle. I too enjoy a good Maduro cigar and a pipe. I watched the video you made in your Suburban about your favorite books and you mentioned mixing Lane 1-Q with Kentucky Dark Fired. I enjoy both those blends so I thought I'd give them a mix and it turned out to be a very good smoke so thank you for that tip even if it wasn't meant to be one. I've rambled long enough so God Bless you and yours and keep up the great content. Thanks much.
I cant agree more with this video. I say the same thing about wine. The best wine is the one you like the most and the best cigar is going to be the one you like and enjoy the most. Keep them coming, I’m enjoying your cigars vídeo a lot.
I've lived in Grand Prairie most of my life. Spent a lot of years in Midlothian, was semi-forced to come back to GP. Glad to see you in my neck of the woods!
I love the smell of cigar I used to hunt on a ranch as a young man with a old man that smoked cigars. The smell reminds me of the old gentleman. I do have a taste for Copenhagen but dang it gets more expensive every time I buy a can.
Good cigar advice. JR Tobacco carries Rosa Cuba in various sizes that I really like as a everyday working cigar. With shipping, bundles of 20 were in low $40 range last time I purchased some which has been a while.
Just starting out and enjoy the relaxing part of the experience of smoking a quality cigar. And like you mentioned it’s not about the price of the cigar. Looking forward to watch your other videos. Thank you.
SO excited you're coming to Tennessee!! I don't smoke cigars but I still watch these videos for the nuggets of wisdom that apply to other areas of life. :)
I know this isn't relevant to this video but I just stumbled across your videos about a week ago. And I've been watching as much as I can And they are amazing. Your perspective on everything is awesome. Your definitely one of my role models now. Thank you for the content and willingness to teach us younger guys and gals. And I'm sure my horse will appreciates it to.
I’m glad to hear you talk about this because there’s some nights where I enjoyed a $2 Russian Cream Backwood from the gas station more than I’ve enjoyed a big expensive cigar lol
I used a manage a little Cigar shop in Santa Monica, and yes, we sold some fine ‘real’ Cuban cigars. . But ☝️, my go to was a CAO Cameroon- Gold Label. And when they had a little Plume, it was magic.
Great episode. Most of my favorite cigars range between $7 - $12 per stick. I tried a $25 cigar or two and they taste like dog turd to me, but to each their own. It’s the same thing with beer, wine or liquor, more expensive doesn’t always mean better.
I love wine and I was lucky enough to have tried very expensive wines... Yes they are good, but they're just not worth it for everyday family events !! So you are right, just like wines, find what you like that is affordable and enjoy life... God bless ! Et merci beaucoup for your videos !!
I have been smoking cigars for 8 years and now work part time at a cigar bar. Here is some of my advice. 1. Smoke what you like, regardless of price range. 2. The best cigar in the world is the one that you like. 3. Do not be judgmental of what other people smoke.
Oliva and Perdomo are some of my favorite cigars. I also smoke some inexpensive cigars that I totally enjoy. I enjoy a cigar and some good coffee on the back porch each day. Reduces stress and we have some good conversations with friends. Smoked a little quoram today.
Love the way his cigar keeps burning while he's talking. A pipe would have to be re-lit again and again. A cigarette would just burn itself down to a stub. But the cigar just keeps a gentle ember going, waiting patiently for him to pause the monologue long enough for a quick draw. Maybe cigars are better suited for conversation.
I get Factory Smoke for when I'm doing yard work. When I want to sit on my porch and just chill, I like to try different sticks but my go to is usually La Gloria Cubana Medio Tiempo. Only been smoking for two years. So I have a lot to learn and a lot of sticks to try out.
Great stuff, started smoking in my late 30's and on average, I smoke a lot of Oliva cant be beat for $4-10 a stick. Enjoyment is key and more importantly the people around you. Friendship, Bonds, Laughs, and New Friends is what drew me in. Great substitute when I stopped drinking. God Bless my friend and keep up the great content. You find yourself in CA, would love to smoke with you.
A really good inexpensive bundle of cigars are the AJ Fernandez bundles exclusive to Atlantic Cigars online. They have three good blends but my favorites are the toro maduros. Exceptional construction, good taste and reasonably priced for a daily cigar. Love your channel!
You guys have it so good in the USA. You basically can’t buy a decent cigar up here in Canada for less than 20 bucks. Premium cigars run you $50-$70 plus.
I concluded this after smoking the Oliva Serie G. It was my ‘holy cow’ moment, getting all of these different flavor combinations than I would have ever looked-for or expected (probably via the Cameroon wrapper). And when you see the price, and then you hear a shop owner confirm a lot of smokers don’t prefer the flavor of the G, I knew I found my favorite stick. Sure, there are far more complex and fuller-bodies cigars out there, but those are for different occasions. I like the idea of enjoying something that just ‘works’ and doesn’t always demand your full attention. Like good people. 😂
Love the serie g. The v and then the g made me branch out from cubans. Then I got a hold of some padron 1926 40 year maduros .... wish i never smoked it lol.
you are speaking the truth..factory smokes were the first bundles that I purchased now I have a Coolidor full of a wide range of brands at different prices. I usually have a "good" one in the morning and I still smoke the Factory smokes on my breaks at work.

The regular serie V is my go to. I've never had tar push from a serie V or Serie V Melanio personally.
@@smokesgtp great go-to to have! One of the most consistently good cigars on the market over the years 🙌🙌
@Cigar Hound Dog Agreed. Love a Robusto, about 45 minutes to an hour. Consistent draw, consistent full flavor of that broken in leather and spicy goodness. After a couple of months or so in the humidor, they get noticeably better even.
Good Afternoon Sir,
I’m a young officer in the Navy(early twenties) and I just want to say that watching your videos have helped me tremendously as I navigate my way through life.
All the way from Kentucky I'm enjoying the cigar videos. Keep it up.
Greetings from South Africa - how much joy I get from your chats is Unbelievable! Thank You and God bless
love this man - we need more examples of good strong men and their journey in the world. Keep on Keepin on
I was enjoying my quorum when my brother send me this video.
Great channel. Authentic and straight talk. Keep it up
i ve been following your videos for awhile my friend am very impressed wit your logical approach to both horses and life im a 65 year old sheetmetal worker slash wanna be cowboy love my cowboy action shooting and old west firearms . the wife and i have owned horses and trail rode for bout 14 years now and aint nothing makes my universe right like sitting in the saddle on a good horse with a good cuban cigar and a flask of 20 year old canadian whiskey within easy reach in my saddle bags i appreciate all your insight philosophy and interesting videos keep up the great work
Same goes for wine and whiskey. Expensive doesn't = enjoyment. Great wisdom Dewayne.
Thanks for the recommendation of the Charter Oak Connecticut. Had my first today and it will be a regular in my box now. Thanks again.
My pleasure!
Verry nice Chanel, found it last Week! Greattings from Germany🇺🇸🙏🇩🇪
Who needs Uncle Sam we got uncle Dwayne. The wisdom and common sense calming effect.
Fresh cigars that are stored at the correct temperature and humidity are key regardless of price. Shops that have fast turnover and a good humidor makes a huge difference. A cute, dark skin check-out girl makes the experience even better
I don't smoke cigars but this philosophy can be applied to almost any thing in life. love your videos even though I don't ride any more either.
Someone that gets it. Don't have to be cigars, it could be anything that brings you profound peace and reflection. And mostly definitely allowing one to appreciate the simple things in this life.
A very important life lesson indeed!: Don't get overly influenced by other people's opinions. Know what you like!
I don't ride, and haven't smoked a cigar in years, but I enjoy your channel immensely. Thank you.
I had a friend who had a relative from Cuba coming for a visit and he brought me a box of Partagus cigars from Havana. They were incredible. I got them for $100 for the box. They were so soft and moist. Wish I could get another box.
Ha you and everyone else
you sir are a breath of fresh air in a world that has lost touch with its self
Long time cigar smoker here. Man, this is some great content. I haven’t heard this advise on any of the other cigar centric sources. Keep up the great work. Every new smoker should hear this. It will encourage a lot more to partake versus hating what they don’t understand.
I couldn’t make you more right please keep talking about cigars cause I just can’t live without it
Super duper video thank you 🙏🏻

Wisdom from Tom T. Hall
I agree with ya on what's a good cigar ....just started watching your videos a few days ago....for supper this evening my lovely bride and myself cooked up your eggs, sausage, and onions on tortilla....added some bell pepper....woo-hoo!! Fine vittles!!...thank you for the videos....
I'm from England and love your cigar videos! keep them coming.
I think this was the best 9 minutes I’ve spent in years..Learned a lot 👍
Greetings from North Dakota to you and your bride. I'm very happy to have found your channel. I grew up ranching in South West Idaho and everything that goes with it. I have been watching your video's and agree with your teachings. I would enjoy hearing stories about greenhorns and the situations they put themselves and others into on trails. Great lessons to learn from. Keep up the good work.
Even this Dutch guy gets relaxed from these videos. We all need more calmness and wisdom!
lik mn bruine anjer, kanjer :)
Thank you.
That’s a really great point about how price deceives the mind.
Keep up the great work!
Many thanks,
Alastair
I love small cigars. Lanceros and Panatellas are my favorite. Nice and comfortable to hold in the hand and mouth and they often pack a ton of flavor.
Same here. I usually don’t smoke anything larger than robusto.
Have had a bad cold so haven't had me a good cigar in a week. Enjoy that V. Great smoke!
Relax, Slow down, Enjoy your life…………words to live by, bygolly!!
Have you tried the Fuente Cuban Corona? If not, highly recommended I like it better then the 858.
A. Fuente's 858 was first AF that I smoked, felt in love, have double chetaeu and King T for next summer, cant wait!
I like those 8-5-8 in Maduro better than their higher end cigars!
Short Story is a great smoke also by AF.
Try a Perdomo 10th Anniversary Muduro. I LOVED that cigar. The Cohiba black was my #1 before I had the Perdomo.
Love the Serie V! One of my favorites!
"The adventure of trying new cigars" is just like the adventure of trying different whisk(e)y/beer/wine - it's one of the best part of smoking cigars.
Same goes for whiskey or wine. What you enjoy is the value you receive. God Bless sir!
Greetings from Montana
Another great video I love the My Father Tabacos Baez $3 Robusto as my go to
Also Factory Smokes, Quorum and Arturo Fuente Curly head are great every day smoke. If I feel a sweet tooth another JC Newman cigar Trader Jacks
Also love my mid shelf cigars My father’s, Perdomo, Oliva , Drew Estate Liga.
Keep it up!
I like your vids on cigars more than anyone else I have seen so far. Dr. G
Wish I could sit and have a smoke with ya. I appreciate you! You seem genuine and consistent...just like a handmade Padron Cigar. 😊
I'm glad you like the Charter Oak cigars from Foundation. The habano and conneticut broadleaf are both amazing and always in my rotation.
I know this isn't relevant to this video but I just stumbled across your videos about a week ago. And I've been watching as much as I can And they are amazing. Your perspective on everything is awesome. Your definitely one of my role models now. Thank you for the content and willingness to teach us younger guys and gals. And I'm sure my horse will appreciates it to.
i think this is the only channel i've ever clicked the bell for
I’m glad to hear you talk about this because there’s some nights where I enjoyed a $2 Russian Cream Backwood from the gas station more than I’ve enjoyed a big expensive cigar lol
"Stop being sheeple." What wonderful advice!!!
I used a manage a little Cigar shop in Santa Monica, and yes, we sold some fine ‘real’ Cuban cigars. . But ☝️, my go to was a CAO Cameroon- Gold Label. And when they had a little Plume, it was magic.
Thank you for another great video and all the best, going forward with the school! Bless Y'all!
Great episode. Most of my favorite cigars range between $7 - $12 per stick. I tried a $25 cigar or two and they taste like dog turd to me, but to each their own. It’s the same thing with beer, wine or liquor, more expensive doesn’t always mean better.
Nothing better than a good cigar a smooth whiskey/whisky, and great friends. Great advice their cowboy.
I live in Grande Prairie, AB, Canada and love watching your videos
This channel is the best - keep the cigar content coming!
My buddy loves those Olivia's. I passed it up for a Padron Maduro last night. That was a good cigar!
Great video, I started smoking cigars about 5 years ago and Its been a great journey, always learning, always trying different cigars. 😀 😊
So I’m not a cigar smoker but I do enjoy these videos because I learn a lot.
Love your discussions around many things but especially around Cigars. Please keep it up.
You guys have it so good in the USA. You basically can’t buy a decent cigar up here in Canada for less than 20 bucks. Premium cigars run you $50-$70 plus.
Grand Prairie!! Lived there off of 360.. Now in Grapevine!
