You know, I watched a billion reviews of the HD600s before I finally bought them. I saw this one as I was waiting for them to arrive, and it actually did by far the best job of making me feel like I made the right decision. Your honesty about your lack of knowldge in this area combined with your clear excitement about them made me realize, sometimes, it's simply better to leave the experts behind and remember we're all just humans that like what we like. And if one headphone or another is better, these still kick ass. Happy to report I love them!
What you told as "soundstage" is actually "imaging" Imaging : The headphone gives you an idea where each and every instrument is placed in the room while recording Soundstage : How far away the sound is coming from. If its intimate soundstage, it would feel like the instrument is near your ear. If its wide soundstage, it would sound like the sound if coming 4 meter to your right.
Myself (an audiophile) and essentially every audiophile friend and reviewer I've seen disagree with you. Soundstaging is the realism of sound placement, while the width is literally just referred to as width. When audiophiles say imaging, they are referring to the movement of sounds from left to right.
@@stelisc9326nope. width only accounts for placement on one axis while imaging gets all 3 of them when something sounds more up or down too, but a lot of people don't even know music can do that so everyone sticks to wideness as an example

Both the hd600 and kph30i are tuned to the neutral target. Clearly the kph30i is a hd600 but less detailed and clear but still a solid experience. No need of an external amp/dac Respect your ears and get the kph30i if you are on a budget but still want a sound that Respect you

I was looking for a video comparing these to "normie" headphones & im glad I found it. I know these are in a completely different league but when you have no point of reference as someone considering them its hard to make a choice.

Your going to need real records or high bitrate streaming to get any real world benefits from high end headphones. Mainstream headphones have tuned/profiles enhance to give us sound that don't break the bank. Audiophiles need to be honest in reviews.

Greetings from Toronto ☕️☕️ Love my Sen’s 650’s on TUBES . The detail ,warmth, and soundstage are highlighted in that they bring out the best that the design has to offer.😋
I like that I can wear them with my glasses on without them hurting. I have another couple of headphones that sound good; beyerdynamic DT 880 Pros at 250 ohms, which I run from my pedal board when I'm practicing guitar or bass at night, and beyerdynamic 1990 Pros at 250 ohms that I use for critical listening when I need to shut out sound. However, the I cannot wear the 1990s with my glasses on. the 880s are fine and sound excellent, the 1990 sound good, but I need my glasses off. this isn't usually a big deal, but when I want to read 10 point type on my iMac, I need the glasses. I run the 500s (which are 300 ohms) and 1990s through a separate DAC and headphone output. I use the DAC in my pedalboard when I practice, and it isn't as good, it sometimes gets some jitter. I usually use the 600s because they sound good, are lightweight, and are comfortable. The 880s sound really good, but I don't want to spend a lot of time switching headphones from my DAC to the pedalboard. The 88os are ported, so they have some sound leakage, but not much. They do have good imaging; I can hear sounds that appear to be behind me. I use the 1990s if I need to block sound bleed. I bought a shielded extension cable that I use with my 600s, so I have enough cord length. My 1990s only have a regular plug, so I can't use them with my small shielded cable jack. They still sound good. I don't consider myself an audiophile, but I know sound I like and I don't like.
“Honky” refers to when the upper mids seem too pronounced and therefore sounding uncomfortable and exaggerated, everyones ears are difference however and pinna response isnt the same for everyone
add a Schitt magni or vali with the Schitt modi dac... and you will be amazed how good they sound! (only works if you are listening at your desktop). cheers!
Ok no beats are better than the airpods but maybe to your ears they sound better I can't dismiss that, everybody's ears are different and pick up sound different as a result With the soundstage part, the hd600 are very intimate but the imaging ie the precision of where sounds are coming from within the stage maybe gives the illusion of a wide stage
just a note: make sure adjustments are identical on both sides or else channel balance will get affected. Also btr5 is massively holding them back. I'll highly recommend Questyle M15 with a balanced cable on the affordable side. Best if you can pair them with a OTL and dac combo. Feliks echo mk2 + rme adi 2 for example
@AHMED SHAFIUL i have HD600 + BTR5, i am 46 yo, i use it with a volume set to 40 of 60 (low gain, single ended 3,5mm jack) and sound is great and loud. BTR5 has enough power to drive HD600 unless You want to be deaf as a post (very soon). At full volume ( BTR5 ) HD600 produces about 101dB (single ended 3,5mm jack) and about 106 dB (balanced 2,5mm jack). pneumatic hammer is about 100dB loud.
OTLs are distortion generators and anything more expensive than a clean usbc dongle (9$ for apples offering) is a waste of money 99% of the time, since a headphone rarely needs more than 1 Vrms to reach adequate peak volume for highly dynamic music.
I like the video, just some tips 1. Lighter transition/ background music. 2. Clip on rode mice for less echo 3. Slow down just a tiny bit. You’re going through your points so fast i dont get to take them into consideration
Just a heads up, the BTR5 is only rated for up to 150 ohms. While you can run HD600’s out of a BTR5, you’re really pushing the limits of the poor thing. HD600’s have a 300 ohm impedance. I really recommend getting something like an audient id4 (it’s a DAC that has a built in amp that can run headphones up to 300 ohms no problem) or a separate DAC/AMP. You could also go the cheaper route and just get a replacement cable that terminates in a 2.5mm balanced over the standard 3.5mm. The BTR5 has 2 DAC’s in it, but they’re only both used if you’re using the balanced out. Balanced out on the BTR5 is something crazy; like 270mW of power. That should be enough to comfortably run HD600’s.
Big Or small soundstage is not a con . Its what u prefer and what music listen. Big soundstage on songs with vocals sound worst than close to u . Movies and orchestra on the other hand sounds better on big soundstage.

You could buy the 6xx which is the same thing but 250 or the hd58x’s which are 200-170 depending on if They are on sale and they sound similar but hold in more bass
I believe it’s the opposite. I think that the hd6xx are based off the hd650s, which have more bass, while the hd58x are based on the hd600s. I’ve heard they’re both a great buy though
@@aaronthetechguy The 58x use a completely different driver than the 6 familly, they are supposedly more of a cheap 660s but it has a hd700 driver. The 58x technically is somewhat a cross of the 5 and 6 familly of sens. The housing of it being obviously the same visually but cheaper plastic and a unique 150ohm driver only 58x usess with a sound signature tuned to be more of a 6 series headphone. if you want portable good audio then just get IEMs, if not there are some steadily really good TWS earbuds coming out like the new galaxy buds pro 2. But for wireless headphones not so much.
If you want an out and about headphone thats closed back and wont break the bank a little more bass and subbass but still clear try the DT770 Pros either as 80ohm or 250ohm as you have the btr5 you wont regret it at all
@@coloradoing9172 thanks so much mate, that's what I'm leaning towards as the 560s are a great headphone, or maybe the ifi hip dac 2, but my gut feeling is the topping
Yeah I know you can do that, but two reasons why no: 1) I don’t want to break the cable from being folded over and 2) when I’m sitting at my desk, having the cable be super long is actually quite nice
@@aaronthetechguy Well sure it would be best to have two cables, I just bought the headphones and I rolled the cable around my hand and put some zipties on it. From previous experience, I don't think it will affect it in any negative way, but then again who knows.
those sing with more power. i dont think your BTR5 is enough. but looking at the BTR5 specs they have more power via the balanced connector. get yourself a balanced cable.
Yeah I’d love to try the balanced out, but it’s currently out of my budget because those cables are just so expensive. According to dankpods the btr5 is more than enough to power it.
Can someone help me with an answer that can determine me in purchasing the Sennheiser HD 600: Can I drive them directly from headphone output of a dedicated sound card from my PC? (in my case M-Audio Revolution 5.1) Thank you.
@@mistersurrealistnowhere near this best it's still leagues above what most people are using.. and that's an exaggeration. They get better with really good amplification but the foundation if you plugged it into an iPod is solidly there.

I personally find the bass response quite pleasing because you can hear all the bass without it shaking your head or distorting the music. I can’t compare it to any of those other headphones as I’ve never tried them before. I’ve also never worn them with glasses so I can’t speak to that.
from cheap to high end sound. If your using streaming for music with avg bitrate stick to mainstream headsets or earbuds. The sound is only as good as your source. most people aren't paying for high bitrate audio for every single track or albums. Most audiophile barely speak on the "Source" of audio you need. Be Honest with viewers on what comes in the territory chasing the dragon of high end sound.
You obviously don't know what you're talking about and haven't actually done the comparison. Even half decent bitrates of codecs these days are neigh inaudible compared to lossless. The headphones are where it all matters and very little else does. If I plug my headphones into an AM radio, even that will sound a hell of a lot better than shit speakers.

The ear cups could change the sound, in the other part, the cable shouldn't.
yet balanced cable is always a good upgrade if you have balanced source
“Honky” refers to when the upper mids seem too pronounced and therefore sounding uncomfortable and exaggerated, everyones ears are difference however and pinna response isnt the same for everyone
add a Schitt magni or vali with the Schitt modi dac... and you will be amazed how good they sound! (only works if you are listening at your desktop). cheers!
it sounds great, just make sure dac/amp have bass boost/tune option, just incase youre not satisfied
Putting them on Bluetooth kills the whole point of them Bluetooth is lossy and not lossless
Im thinking to by BTR5 To Replace My BTR3K That Does Not Seem To Charge Right Anymore
Ok no beats are better than the airpods but maybe to your ears they sound better I can't dismiss that, everybody's ears are different and pick up sound different as a result
With the soundstage part, the hd600 are very intimate but the imaging ie the precision of where sounds are coming from within the stage maybe gives the illusion of a wide stage
As a normal person, i can confirm it's good.
👍
just a note: make sure adjustments are identical on both sides or else channel balance will get affected.
Hey man just a note, the clips of the music over b-roll are way louder than clips with you talking. Otherwise, great video
You aren't joking, it just about blew my ears out!
haha, that slide was clean!
I like the video, just some tips
1. Lighter transition/ background music.
2. Clip on rode mice for less echo
The HD600 don't even have a very good soundstage compared to most high quality headphones but they are still one of the best headphones ever made.
Big Or small soundstage is not a con . Its what u prefer and what music listen. Big soundstage on songs with vocals sound worst than close to u . Movies and orchestra on the other hand sounds better on big soundstage.
@@Tripokaridos22 Actually I like orchestra recordings very much on HD600. Movies and sound effects aren't great on them though.
@@jasonjansen9831 honestly everything that has to do with music i only use HD600 and 660s , For games i sold everything and use koss kc75 15 euro headphone lol , About movies i use in ear Beyerdynamic soul byrd 90 euro iem that has huge soundstage and a bit boosted bass. I have make the headphones journey and ut was great all these Hifimans Focals BW BO yeah some of them was amazing on something but lose on something else. Sometimes simplier is better and HD600 for music for light weight comfort price easy to find parts and most of all they last forever and uts easy to sell them. Its the Toyota of headphones .
@@Tripokaridos22 HD600 represent music so naturally. Like the players are in the room with you and nothing is hyped up. Too wide soundstage makes music sound artificial to me.
@@jasonjansen9831 Yeahp fully agree.
You could buy the 6xx which is the same thing but 250 or the hd58x’s which are 200-170 depending on if
They are on sale and they sound similar but hold in more bass
It's arguable if the 58x belongs next to the 6 ones but it's mighty fine for the price.
if you want portable good audio then just get IEMs, if not there are some steadily really good TWS earbuds coming out like the new galaxy buds pro 2. But for wireless headphones not so much.
If you want an out and about headphone thats closed back and wont break the bank a little more bass and subbass but still clear try the DT770 Pros either as 80ohm or 250ohm as you have the btr5 you wont regret it at all
Or the Dt 900 Pro X because they DONT have the typical beyer peak which causes sibilance.
Id be using my hidizs s9 pro dac amp dongle and fiio btr7 to listen via ldac
you look like 2004
did you use the 3.5mm jack on the BTR5, or the 2.5mm?
Hey guys, what are the opinions around running the hd600 with the btr5 dac amp 🤔 Cheers
Any source that can provide 1Vrms will do the job, since they have a sensitivity of 105dB/Vrms. So, a 9$ apple dongle will do the trick :)
@@leviathan5207 thanks for that mate 👍
If you're going with these headphones, you should definitely invest in a better amp. DX3 pro + would probably be the best bang for your buck.
@@coloradoing9172 thanks so much mate, that's what I'm leaning towards as the 560s are a great headphone, or maybe the ifi hip dac 2, but my gut feeling is the topping
Mine ate modified and painted
Great video dude
Also can you please say what the music in your video is?
It sounds amazing
I already have a mint hd5i0, and a mint second hand hd 660s, but today I bought a new hd600. Price was £215. On nain sennheiser web site plus code.
Hd580.....not gd5i0. ??
Enjoy!

I respect that ur wearing a red kippah during the vid 😂im more of a blue kippah kind of guy
good info! thanks
the price has gone up tho , Bidenomecs and such
You can't even spell correctly lmao makes sense!
I love mine
thats imaging youre talkin about not sound stage.
My ears.. could you keep the volume more level during the transitions?
You know you can simply bunch up the cable and tie it down with a ziptie or anything else right?
Yeah I know you can do that, but two reasons why no: 1) I don’t want to break the cable from being folded over and 2) when I’m sitting at my desk, having the cable be super long is actually quite nice
@@aaronthetechguy Well sure it would be best to have two cables, I just bought the headphones and I rolled the cable around my hand and put some zipties on it. From previous experience, I don't think it will affect it in any negative way, but then again who knows.
Do you ever have issues where it sounds louder on one side. Off balance then mess with head placement and it’s ok?
those sing with more power. i dont think your BTR5 is enough. but looking at the BTR5 specs they have more power via the balanced connector. get yourself a balanced cable.
Yeah I’d love to try the balanced out, but it’s currently out of my budget because those cables are just so expensive. According to dankpods the btr5 is more than enough to power it.
@@aaronthetechguy there should be cheap balanced cables on Amazon.
Why can’t you take these headphones to school or anywhere else?
Open back means they blast whatever you are listening to all around you.
just order, wait and listen
would be best if you buy pair of affordable iem + proper dac while waiting
Can someone help me with an answer that can determine me in purchasing the Sennheiser HD 600:
Can I drive them directly from headphone output of a dedicated sound card from my PC? (in my case M-Audio Revolution 5.1)
Thank you.
You CAN, but you SHOULDN'T. They won't sound anywhere near their best without a dedicated amp.
@@mistersurrealistnowhere near this best it's still leagues above what most people are using.. and that's an exaggeration. They get better with really good amplification but the foundation if you plugged it into an iPod is solidly there.
addon soundcard does have dedicated amp, its basically dac+mic
side note...rting ...compensated ...are...kinda ...shit.....read their raw instead
bro sounds like xqc
A wireless dac🤦♂️🤦♂️, just get the dragonfly black or cobalt and have gotten yourself a real dac
What about for listening to Techno for like 5+hrs. non-stop or several hours off and on throughout the entire day? Is the bass response good like 990 Pro or 900 Pro X or even the MDR-7506? Can i wear them with my eyeglasses for hours in comfort, or will they hurt?
I personally find the bass response quite pleasing because you can hear all the bass without it shaking your head or distorting the music. I can’t compare it to any of those other headphones as I’ve never tried them before. I’ve also never worn them with glasses so I can’t speak to that.
@@aaronthetechguy thank you very much for your feedback.
Huh duh six hundos
There's no such thing as a 'normal' person.
from cheap to high end sound. If your using streaming for music with avg bitrate stick to mainstream headsets or earbuds. The sound is only as good as your source. most people aren't paying for high bitrate audio for every single track or albums. Most audiophile barely speak on the "Source" of audio you need. Be Honest with viewers on what comes in the territory chasing the dragon of high end sound.
you posted this comment twice
@@mr2meows I hit send and it said it didn’t go through. I’ll erase it
Yup. Garbage comes in, garbage comes out. Highly compressed mp3s will sound like highly compressed mp3s regardless of what headphones you use.
@@coloradoing9172 exactly. I wish we could get one honest reviewer on what you need before picking a high end headset.
