    I suggest throwing mcgovern forward.every now and then to mix it up a bit.
    Give the oppo something to think about.

      Only as a swingman. Barrass possibly too. We need to put Bazzo and Hedwards on the star forwards and give them exposure. They may get thrashed but so be it. Same with small defenders. Pointless having Cole Duggan Hunt back there all the time. The next generation of mid sized defenders just won't get the experience in the role.

    • @BDub2024
      @BDub2024 4 месяца назад

      What I mean is that Bazzo and Hedwards must be back in the team when fit. That creates an opportunity for moving Barrass probably. But he has upper back issue now and mightn't want to take quite as many screamers now. Also we need to be careful that doesn't stop BWilliams and JWilliams from opportunities.

    Tim English. I'd rather spend the money getting some star young tall forwards/defenders and midfielders. But we'd have to trade for them giving up valuable draft picks. English we can get for nothing. Tall ruckman like him and Paul Salmon can play until mid 30s. He will make it a lot easier for the midfielders and immediately make us competitive. That may ensure some of the young mids hang around as they can see a future, it won't be quite as hard and they'll get some more wins. So I'm starting to think yes for English. But its hard then for Flynn and BWilliams

      Rebuilding. You can only play with what you have. People need a reality check. They're also changing the style of play, but they don't have the type of players for that change. You need raw pace and play the style of intense tackling and speed. For many years we were a measured possession team with the players ideal for that style of play. In 2018 our forwards were Kennedy Lecras Riolli Cripps Darling Ryan. The last three were younger and less banged up. Down back we currently only have two tall defenders who are old and sore. Hedwards and Bazzo can't stay fit and aren't power defenders yet.

    Here's a possible idea. As priority pick usually goes to a club who's played woefully for a couple of seasons, and they are financially bankrupt, our Eagles realistically don't need the pick as it comprises the draft. Perhaps give them the ability to go outside the salary cap for 2 years by 5 or 10 percent? This way it comes out of our bottom line rather than punishing other clubs. Just a thought

      AFL won't allow that. Also there is a risk we;d also be pay big money for guys that don't deserve it. Good idea though. I reckon a few draft picks mid draft that we have to trade for established players. Clubs will be happy to trade.

    Josh Draper is a Michael Johnson clone

      Hmm the young fella has been composed and impressive in his two games but I think yourself and the other media saying the same have forgotten Johnno far too early. He's alot less developed than Johnno was when he started which is why he played ones for half the season in his first season while also pinch hitting in the ruck. If we get a 250 game key defender who's is an All Australian in our leadership group out of Draper I'll be absolutely stoked but it's a lot to ask. You're correct that he's a tall, skinny key defender with number 37 on his back though😅

    5 years of North leading in to priority picks for 2022: 9th, 12th, 17th, 18th. 18th.
    5 years of West Coast leading in to priority picks for 2024: 5th, 9th, 17th, 18th, ??
    West Coast may be in line for 2nd & 3rd round 2024 picks that they will have to trade. Now West Coast fans can learn just how piss weak that package was for North.

    • @BDub2024

      I think its reasonable for Eagles to get two picks in the 20s to 30s range. It would be good to even have another one later, that we can package together and trade a good player to us. Win win really. I think the AFL can always restrict the age of the players we recruit too. That's ok. Clubs that want to get some good draft picks for a player they don't want will be sure to nominate a few.

    • @BDub2024
      @BDub2024 4 месяца назад

      @@user-kw1gp3dq4o Of course its earned. In the last 20 years they're been given teams pick 1 in the draft as a priority pick. In Eagles case they're just talking a couple of picks in the 20s and 30s that they can ontrade. Remember its far harder to rebuild now due to free agency where you lose players for virtually nothing and they lob into a club that's contending. Yes if the right players was selected it would be strong bodies and experience to support the youngsters as they come through. So certainly beneficial for development.

    This whole you can't smile after a loss doesn't mean you're not hurting that's rubbish. I sit with people in a job that means life and death. Yep, my job is really difficult probably far harder than any football job and far more pressure in keeping people alive and even in our craziest moments we can laugh. I don't think you can just say that you can't laugh after a loss that is ridiculous and we need to move on from that kind of we need to sulk. We need to appease fans by a certain look, that is ridiculous. It doesn't mean for the 120 minutes that they are out there that they are not trying they are trying that you can just smile after a loss. It's okay sometimes that helps people cope. I don't want to see people just sulking all the time that doesn't do anyone any good at all
