Many have also forgotton the spray Goodwin came out with on queens birthday clash in 2022 regarding Grundy saying that Pies didnt value Grundy when they got rid of him and yet Melb only got Grundy to turn him into a forward which didnt work and then didnt get a game and then offloaded. Yeh real valued at Melb he was. He also forgot to mention that Pies got rid of Grundy because he didnt want a pay cut to his overpaid salary to allow the club to recruit players in which they got Mitchell, Frampton, Hill, after they offloaded him. Grundy held Pies to ransom for years and Fly had none of it and let him go because he wouldnt take a pay cut to his overinflated salary which should never have happened to benefit the club.
Goodwin is just a tool and Geelong is no better with injured player status. They kept Cameron on after banging his head on the ground and other incidents yet the afl kiss their ass, yet suspend players for high bumps. The afl are as serious about player welfare as the government is about domestic violence.

Petracca's on 1.2M a year, it's no wonder the Dees don't want to lose him... they want "some kind of value for money" out of the bloke. The only way they're gonna get that, is by playing him.
But then you hear Petracca going on about his cooking show, unbelievable. I think he needs to decide for himself what he actually wants to be. If he wants his 1.2M a year, he needs to pull his head in and make sure he's ready to play as soon as he can. If he can't... then he can make scones on tv (or whatever it is that he cooks.)

If Petracca is fair dinkum about leaving then he needs to be happy to go anywhere. These footballers from Melbourne city are too soft, and need to get out a bit. How often have you seen a first generation boy from Melbourne move anywhere. If he is determined then he needs to do the right thing by the club and be willing to go anywhere.

Bit of a two pronged thing the Petracca trade. On one hand, you can see a quality player who holds himself to elite standards and tries to bring up others to his level. Im convinced the culture at Melbourne is pretty toxic with too many misses in the past 2 yrs so can understand wanting to get the hell out of there. Not sure on this branding thing - if im paying a million a yr now Id expect him to be all in. And its AFL, i have travelled a lot and can unequivocally confirm that no one outside of Australia hardly cares. A fraction of a fraction of 1% of the population knows who you are. A good media role is there post retirement probably if he wants it. If his partner is a lawyer I doubt they are slumming it. It seems a bit self centred to me and actually a red flag to his tradeability and to the other 17 clubs. As a neutral, supporting a non-Vic club, will watch with some interest as it plays out.
