Great video Nick. Learned something from the history. Enjoyed the run session. I really can’t believe all you had to do to this one, but the result is fantastic!
I usually don’t post comments, however I found this video very enjoyable. It’s great that you told us about how you had so many problems with that engine, and how you overcame them. That engine will Always be one of your favorites. You are a great spokesman for the hobby!
Alot of nice detail in your layout Love the history lesson on this engine and it looks beautiful to bad it gave you alot of trouble in the beginning but it's doing great now awesome job
Looks brand new and sounds terrific. I've got a Railking K4 from 2000...she's still running strong and is a layout favorite. The proto-2 calls it the Red Arrow. Thanks Nick ! 👍👍👍
Thanks for watching! Those are really nice engines. The red arrow was another special PRR train. Lionel made those cars a few years back in 21” heavys.
Nick, considering the rebuild work you've done on that engine you must have the patience of a saint! Hey, there we go! You're the REAL Saint Nick! 🤩 Anyhow, great job on that K4! And some good history too, I didn't know Sir Nigel Gresley was involved with the development of the K4, that's interesting. A few other things, by order of the ICC the oil headlights on the K4's (and other mainline locomotives) were replaced with electric headlights starting in 1914 although obviously it didn't happen overnight. 1361 ran out it's last miles in regular service on the New York & Long Branch in NJ hauling commuters. Great video! Thanks for posting!
Thanks so much for watching and for all of the information on the engine. I was terrified installing the replacement drive gear. I had no idea how fragile the parts were and they can shear so easily.
Very nice. The price, even with the new parts, is very reasonable for a modern O gauge locomotive. The upgrades are nice, too. They add a nice touch and bring that engine to life. I'm surprised at the distance between the locomotive and the tender. I have a Rail King Southern Ps4 Pacific that can run on O27 track, at least according to the list of features on the box and it isn't anywhere close to that distance. I'm running O72 minimum on the outer loop, so I would like to shorten the draw bar a bit. I have room to drill a hole in the metal closer to the tender body to shorten it up about a quarter to a half inch. The tether isn't really an issue. Either way, that smoke unit is incredible. I would like to upgrade my smaller Hudsons and Prairies, but I doubt that there is enough room and I probably wouldn't get the chuffs. The whistle, on the other hand, would be an excellent upgrade and would fit in the post-war tenders without a problem. As you know, I'm not a fan of the crew talk, but this was giving me a good laugh. Absolutely dopey, but just plain funny. I love steam engines, especially the Pennsy locos and this one is a beauty. Also, who does the sequential signals? I'm glad that you kept the camera on them as they cycled through the aspects as the train went past and on to the next block. An excellent video, as always. I'm looking forward to all of the upcoming reviews.
Thanks so much for watching! I actually bought a piece of stock metal to build my own tether. I hate that distance as well. I feel like they should have added a 2 pin adjustable tether. This is the only engine in the collection to set off the smoke detector in the train room lol. MTH made those, they cycle through on their own. I use a NO / NC relay with an optic sensor to change the signal. When the “clear” wires are energized- it goes “approach” then “clear” automatically. The “stop”wires just indicate “stop”.
Thanks for watching! That engine sounds fantastic, I originally added that sound file to this engine but enjoyed the sounds of then”metropolitan “ sound set with quilling whistle
Nice video. May I suggest you include the link where people can donate to the real 1361 restoration in the description of your video? That would really help spread the word on the project and get us closer to seeing it put back together and running again.
I have a old Kline Engine from a Cross Country Set from the late 70's its prolly like a SD 45 to today's standards if I sent it off 2 you could you convert that to the new Bluetooth Lionel base 3 can run it with it with the new CAB 1 L remote?
Unfortunately Lionel / ERR recently stopped making the AC boards. They would need to have DC motors and purchased through ERR to work with the cab1 system. Unfortunately they are expensive boards

Thanks so much my friend! Glad I was able to rescue this engine.
Its great talking to you at Timonium love your channel hopefully I’ll run into you again
Thanks so much! Great talking with you as well. Can’t wait for Allentown this weekend
That is such a nice engine you have man! The details and the sounds on it are nice! I even like the announcements on it too.
Thanks so much 🚂💨

Thanks for watching! 🚂💨 it was slightly terrifying seeing the eBay photos and seeing that the tooling was missing haha
I always enjoy your history lessons, gorgeous engine and great video!
Thanks so much!

I like the horn on that Steam engine
It was my first engine as a kid it does work on conventional but want the sound and stuff

I love the k4’s. I have MTH 3858 imperial locomotive with protosound 3.

@@NixCrossing Thank you so much! You’re the man!

Hey I got my K4 back together. She is whole again.
Very nice! Those engines are a lot of fun, we have a member at the club who runs one of the Brunswick Pacifics that they made that year.
So this is a k-line with proto3 upgrade?
That’s correct 😄, thankfully the upgrades gave this engine a new life on the model railway
