Sweet Girl McRee, this old song, come new, fell into place at the closing of the film 'The Unlikely Pilgrimage Of Harold Fry' in the most perfect way when the emotion of the story so perfectly captured the essence of the song's theme. "Sweet Girl McRee, the anthem of the highly anticipated film Harold Fry, is about reflection upon one’s life and the routes one chooses to take, a journey through our chosen paths, whether easy or hard in their takings. The song captures that nostalgic, whimsical haunting quality we find ourselves in when looking back in sentimental reveries on how we got to where we are in moments of deep reflection.”

I heard this on Radio 3 today by complete accident and was blown away. What a beautiful song
Gorgeous song and performance. I just had to sit through the whole end titles of the film to hear all of this. Now I'm a convert to Sam Lee.
Saw him live by chance, was amazing sat in the woods watching him in low light
The song is beautiful.. earthy and romantic and Sam Lee's voice is honest and lovely.
Lovely. I had the good fortune to be in the audience for a singalong rendition of this song last summer (thank you North York Moors Chamber Music Festival!)
I went to see the film yesterday that this soundtrack is on! The film was brilliant and so was this folk song! It is so emotive and beautiful and his voice gives it a haunting ghostly vibe! His voice is amazing! I cried ! Avril Easton X ❤👍

Thank you, dear Sam, for this and for your great work!
Enjoyed this song from the film . Is there an album forthcoming? Yes must surely be the answer, Sam.
I thought you said Graih My Chree (sounds like Gry m' cree) which means Love of My Heart in Gaelic (Manx spelling). I would think that is the original version.
Beautiful song. Thanks for sharing.
Maravilloso
Beautiful. Please release it on vinyl.
Love this song! Thank you! ♥
ich liebe diesen song ! ;) ..
Mas eu amo demais esse cara.
Beautiful
Wonderful
Where did you collect this from? Is it Banna's shore?
Oh sweet grá mo chroi. Not 'girl mcree' In Irish or Gaeilge, grá means love, mo means my or mine and chroi means heart, put together would mean love of my heart.
Yep I agree. A nice song to sing with those words in Gaelic.
es gibt kein schöneres Lied
