I love this so much, is is just wonderful, having spent many many nights sleeping on the Hill of Tara in Meath Ireland or with my daughter for our morning ritual, running down the hill at dawn to sit on the ground to prevent machinery entering and destroying the sacred Tara Skryne Valley, special times with my beloved girl... We tried but alas failed in stopping the motorway but the memories. Thank you so much for your beautiful songs.
Sam sings from the heart and soul. I find peace and happy memories of Gypsy life and people gone by, whenever I listen to him. May God Bless Him. Kushty Bok.
Makes the hairs on your neck stand up,what a superb voice and backing,I had the pleasure of seeing Sam live in Buxton and this was the last song, when he and his backing singers moved into and amongst the audience to sing it,he sang it beautifully live and had some of the audience in tears, met him afterwards,he had time for everyone, and he is such a lovely guy,one of the best ever live performances and his album is full of beautiful vocals like this.
hard not to weep in sadness and joy but ultimately the beauty overwhelmingly triumphs. sam lee is hope for us all...just close your eyes and listen. gratitude....
heard Sam for the first time last night in Birmingham at the library Studio Theatre. I was totally knocked out by his voice and it brought back lovely memories from the fifties in my local community of Irish exiles in the North East of England. On special occasions some locals would be asked to sing and. I havent heard this singing style in all this time and had my mother been alive she would have loved it. I hope more people get the chance to hear Sam sing. Respect J.
Jordie0001 what a lovely memory..memories and community is what’ it is all about. We have survived because of the brave parents before us...music is crucial.I live in the west of Ireland, and I am so lucky to be surrounded by waves of music. Sam is wonderful, and “long may you run...
Wow! I mean, I thought that this was a lost sound. Then heard Huntsman. But this... Wow. What a truly crushing song, both the words and the sound. Beautiful, truly beautiful. Wow
Thanks - that was lovely. I get so sad though when I heard stuff about turtle doves and nightingales singing, as they are disappearing from our countryside.
Absolutely beautiful, Sam - I was holding my breath at the sweetness and intensity of this piece - heartfelt and so powerful. Magical, magical man x :)
There's something akin to Eddie Vedder sometimes in his voice. Don't know if it's the vibrato or his warmth. Would love a collaboration between the two.
23/12/2022: Fiona texted yesterday, and was sorry for the three months it's been since. used words like "big love" and "holding space" - I'd like to sing "revenant, come on back again" - I'd like to storm back into Parkdale with a grin - I'd like to say I've been waiting this whole time, and that all my love's not been spent, that it's still "big" - but I'm used to how quickly time paves over these things, it doesn't make me nauseous anymore. I let out an audible gasp yesterday when I found the Phantom Thread Soundtrack in the used pile of records at Rotate This. How silly it is to find something you were sure you wouldn't find despite so hopelessly looking for it. There's so much work to do now, but I'd best lie down for a bit. I don't know what to say back to Fiona, but that's quite alright.

This is wonderful. I particularly like the fusion between Sam's folk idiom and the world music vibe and tonality of the choir.
I couldn't stop smiling throughout this. Total bliss.
