- "Forty Six & 2" is a song by the American rock band Tool, featured on their third studio album, "Ænima," released in 1996. The band consists of four members:
Maynard James Keenan: Lead vocals
Adam Jones: Guitar
Justin Chancellor: Bass
Danny Carey: Drums
Now, let's delve into the song itself. "Forty Six & 2" is known for its complex lyrics, which draw inspiration from psychology, Carl Jung's theories, and the concept of human evolution. The title refers to the idea of personal transformation and growth.
The term "46 & 2" specifically alludes to the hypothetical leap from the current human chromosome count (44 autosomes and 2 sex chromosomes) to a higher state of being. The song suggests that this evolution could lead to a more advanced, enlightened version of humanity.
The lyrics touch upon themes of self-discovery, shedding old limitations, and embracing a more evolved self. Maynard James Keenan's enigmatic and symbolic writing style allows for various interpretations, making the song a subject of much discussion among fans.
Musically, "Forty Six & 2" is characterized by Tool's signature progressive and alternative metal sound. The band is known for its intricate rhythms, complex time signatures, and atmospheric textures, all of which contribute to the song's unique and captivating sonic landscape.

I AM BLOWN AWAY BY TOOL!!!. IS THERE ANOTHER ROCK BAND IN RECENT TIMES THAT CAN COMPARE?
Tool one of my favorite bands you should do Ticks and leeches by Tool
this song has to do with the Chromosomes
As far as contemporaries of Tool that can compare, Radiohead (though I'm not a big fan personally) and Nine Inch Nails are often up there. If you want something in prog metal I would suggest Opeth, either Drapery Falls or Hessian Peel.
No. You have to go back in time to PINK FLOYD or LED ZEPPELIN, in my opinion. ✌️
There are good bands and there is Tool which stands out amongst the rest as if they are aliens from another planet unlike anything people have seen before like the top athletes from every sport that comes once in a life time like Cristiano Ronaldo for soccer for example
neverender, we need at least 1 TOOL reaction a week! 🤞✌️
Want a REAL treat? There's a cover of 46 & 2 by the kids of the O'Keefe Music Foundation that I bet Danny and Maynard show to their own kids it is so good. Peace, love and bellbottoms from Canada.
And it’s incredible!!
Sorry, but I can't buy those lyrics comin from a pre pubescent
I think the little girl does a good job. But her pitch is a little grating for me. I can't listen to it.
But the band kids do insanely good
@@crystalscolza1663 Good point- it grates a wee bit on me too. But then I think she (Kala Rose) is only ELEVEN at that point so I give her a pass... and she did Sober (Tool) and Crazy Horse(!) (Black Label Society) in succeeding years brilliantly. Peace, love and marmalade.
NeverEnder the lead singer of TOOL (Maynard James Keenan) is also the lead singer of two other bands.
A PERFECT CIRCLE & PUSCIFER.
Both of these bands are AMAZING. I recommend that you dive into these discographies as well. 🤞✌️
Yes, most definitely!
Spiral out, keep going 🌀 🙏🌀
I get so jealous when I see someone listening to Tool for the first time! Spiral on! 🌀

You would like holy trinity by tool, 46 & 2 & hooy trinity are my most favorite of tool.
This was wholesome to watch :)
F××K YEAH!!!
Do their song The Grudge with lyrics. Intense drumming and a crazy scream. Don't hold grudges, they will destroy you! Love your reaction!
Loved you reaction. The best! And this happens to be one of my all time favorite songs. I would like to suggest a group similar to Tool for you to review, but what's similar? I can only give you what I personally love listening to, which is Nu Metal, which came out in the late 90s. Same powerful beats, but have rap elements that when combined with hard rock make for a remarkably powerful vibe. Nu Metal bands and some of the best songs would include: Limp Bizkit (best songs include "Nookie," "Break Stuff," and "Rollin'"); Rage Against the Machine ("Bulls on Parade" and "Killing in the Name); Kid Rock ("Bawitdaba"); and Disturbed ("Down With the Sickness"). Limp Bizkit's and Kid Rock's music are first and foremost just good fun to listen to while Rage Against the Machine and Disturbed take on a more serious approach. This is some of the most powerful rock available while still carrying a strong melody behind unlike genre's that branched off like Death Metal and its many derivatives, which in so many songs are broken up and difficult to follow. I find very little at the end that I can hum to in my mind. Hope this helps and that you like them!
Just found your channel though your Pantera "Walk" reaction. It is wonderful to see that you have already found Tool. With that being said I would like to ask you to react to the song " Descending " it is on the same album as Pneuma. I Guarantee you will love it.
Awesome thank you!
@@theneverenderreacts Gave you a sub just for taking the time to respond to my comment
Hi - I suggest you react to a song by a rock music group called HAKEN - (HAKEN rhymes with Bacon!!) -- the rock band HAKEN sounds a lot like TOOL and RUSH and the group is very talented like TOOL and RUSH - the song I suggest is called "Veil" or "VEIL" by Haken - it's a new music group for you - but they write similar music to TOOL and RUSH - you'll love them - also I was the guy that suggested the song "Cult of Personality" for you! - so if you give them a shot enjoy the song "VEIL" by HAKEN (rhymes with Bacon!! (smile!!)
This was back in 1996. Ænima was the LP that put lesser metal on notice.
Breaking Benjamin WISHES they were Tool! 😂😂😂😂
Whaaaatt? They formed my chilhood lol
not their best song but the song that really made Tool the best band ever if that makes sense.
