This is one of the best Nerf mod videos I've seen. Really clear instructions, no annoying metal durge soundtrack and the fact you did it against a clear background really helps :-) Excellent!
Nerf puts an AR (Air Restrictor) in all their guns, it usually consists of a small spring that closes a valve. This valve is open while the dart is in, but it closes as soon as the dart starts to move and makes for a bad airflow, since the air has to make it's way through the Air Restrictor. Drilling through it is the only practical way to remove it in this blaster, in other blasters it's as easy as taking it off effortlessly. Without an AR, the air flows straight down the barrel. Hope I helped.
Thanks man, I've just modded my longstrike thanks to this awesome guide video. Not a single word spoken but more explanative than most other Nerf mod guide videos.
This was very helpful to me. My Longstrike's firing range was very lackluster when it came out of the box. Now that I've modded it, it performs better and fires farther. Thanks bro!
it turns out there was a piece that's glued together. if you open up the jamming door and look to the top left, the flat orange ring is glued at the insertion to the left cover. what i did was use an X-acto knife to remove some of the glue, and poured boiling water for a good 2-3 mins on the spot. this loosened the glue enough for me to force the part open. hope this helps.
EXCELLENT! THANK YOU! My very first modding attempt was meeting with much frustration while attempting to reassemble. This VERY professionally done vid (unlike all the others I carefully watched) has saved my son's LongStrike. Thanks nerfperformance!!!
Thanks a lot. I ended up just carefully smashing the AR out, and I got lucky and it didn't break. Even the sound of a dry fire is much more fulfilling now. Great mod
Nice video. Did the AR mod but kept the spring stock because I could not find one in town. With just the AR mod I was getting double the distance over stock. 50 to 60 feet! Thanks!
This was a HUGE help! Thanks so much for doing this vid. When I put mine together the night I bought it, all that would happen was the dart would drop out of the barrel. After mimicking you (with the exception of changing the spring coil and drilling the hole) everything works now. ^___^ Thanks again!!
Thank you. I was putting something together wrong and by stepping through it I know it will fire. Not sure how long it will last with the new spring but I'm pretty sure it will fire farther than the three feet I was getting.
Thank you very much for this awesome tutorial, It was great and very detailed. This actually made the Long strike a worth-while Nerf gun. I didn't even modify the spring and it is already really great. Thanks again, this really made my day. :]
@Mandolore101 yours sounds loud because the air restrictor is removed, they are supposed to be loud when you remove yours, his camera just didn't pick it up so you're fine, I've spent 4 years moding nerf so don't worry I'm not just talking shit.
@Mandolore101 Commonly done my most nerfers (or at least the oens who mod their blasters). I also gloop a metal washer onto the back of the plungertube for extra reinforcement and as a catch for the powerstock spring.
Make sure you put everything back in correctly. I had that problem so I opened it up and found that one of the pieces(the bolt rack) wasn't correctly placed.
After modifications, what is the percentage of increased performance? Has the range increased? If so, how much? Has the fire power increased? If so, how much?
Shirt and hammer my friend, shirt and hammer. Use the shirt to cushion the blue portion of the gun and the opposite side of the hammer to pry it off. be sure to wiggle both sides to see which part is suppose to come off.
good write up, but it need's to address the problem of padding. without padding that things gunnaa die fairly quickly. It also should have a O-ring replacement to get the most out of the plunger system. I usually just go with a external power stock for my power boost, but the spring replacement is pretty neat ^^
Great. A little tip, rap something around the barrel when drilling it. I didn't and the drill went through the barrel right into my hand. It was a bloody mess. He careful out there.
I can't find a new spring, can I but something on its back so it will shorten it, like making it already a lil bit compressed inside of the blaster? Would it shoot stronger?
If you don’t have power tools, heat up a screw driver from a candle, and continuously try and poke the hole through, additionally I lost one of the springs so I took one out of a pen.
Question: Won't removing the dart holder make the dart slide all the way to the back of the gun or straight out of the gun??? I don't understand how that helps...
very helpful, but the charging handle broke its internals when I yanked it off. Making a new one but be aware, it can happen. Charging handle is the double set of handles on either side when you pull the bolt back. Glad I can print a new part :)
can i have a copy of the still i also broke mine to, i got a printer just not the time to make the part. share with me in drive thx would appreciate if you could.
you never want to stretch a spring people, thats the worst thing you can do.where the metal bends is the exact spots where it will break or where it will fail and bend into other parts of the blaster.Shortens life big time.Buy a new upgrade spring at orange mod works,3 to 6 dollars tops for a proper spring or use a tape bracket for holding a stock spring forward is the other alt.
@nerfperformance hey just wondering how your plunger is faring? i noticed you didn't put any padding on it, I'm quite paranoid about this sort of thing as i just busted my recon, I'm also planning on adding my recon spring to the longstrike plunger would this work?
@nerfperformance No, it works. The gun is brocken, i can tell. I just tried it and the bolt thing is working, but doesnt fire....Its dead man. Its dead.
The bolt handles (for me) will not come off for me. Have I put them on too tightly? I tried wedging it out with two flat head screw drivers, and it STILL wouldn't budge. Help?
This worked great on my gun but now the spring doesn't lock when I prime it. I might have done something wrong when I put it back together but that doesn't seem likely because it worked for a while after the mod. Maybe something broke internally
@nerfperformance I searched up prying the bolt handels for the longstrike..Help, i got all the screws out but the handels are stuck. I tried prying them but i couldnt get it..Help!!!
If you want to put a different spring on in there all you Gotta do is take out the spring you don’t have to take out everything all you Gotta do is just take out the spring and put a difference a stronger spring in there and screw it back together and you’re good to go
I've followed all your steps to install back but somehow the first shot after shooting, I can't cock back. The damn orange piece is stuck. then I took off all the screws and open a little bit, then I hear a thud. Try to cock again and still gets stuck. Pls help!
dont take out pieces without knowing where they are i learned that the hard way and pry open the blaster with a flat head screw driver if its stuck hope this helps you people
What type of spring did you use to replace the stock one? Im just curious. If anyone else has any suggestions for springs to use for the replacement springs feel free to comment and let me know
This is one of the best Nerf mod videos I've seen. Really clear instructions, no annoying metal durge soundtrack and the fact you did it against a clear background really helps :-)
Excellent!
I really love how you showed where the individual parts went. It was super helpful, especially the springs.

How far can you shoot now?

Is he purposely trying to do asmr?
even though this was roughly 8 years ago, it feel nice
the only moder I've seen so far that explains how to put things back in order...thank you
EXCELLENT! THANK YOU!

Nice video. Did the AR mod but kept the spring stock because I could not find one in town. With just the AR mod I was getting double the distance over stock. 50 to 60 feet! Thanks!
I followed those steps exactly, and it shoots great again! Thank you.
@DefiantninjaJM wassup man
I'm fixing up my long strike as well, my uncle handed it down to me
This was a HUGE help! Thanks so much for doing this vid. When I put mine together the night I bought it, all that would happen was the dart would drop out of the barrel. I actually removed my lock. I like to be able to prime all the way in one go, instead of locking in the middle.
@Mandolore101
yours sounds loud because the air restrictor is removed, they are supposed to be loud when you remove yours, his camera just didn't pick it up so you're fine, I've spent 4 years moding nerf so don't worry I'm not just talking shit.
Extremely Helpful. I love that you don't babble-on though the video like so many others... Subscribed, and looking forward to new vids!
@Mandolore101 Commonly done my most nerfers (or at least the oens who mod their blasters). I also gloop a metal washer onto the back of the plungertube for extra reinforcement and as a catch for the powerstock spring.
Make sure you put everything back in correctly. I had that problem so I opened it up and found that one of the pieces(the bolt rack) wasn't correctly placed.
whenever i would shoot my gun it would make a very loud bang, is that good?
After modifications, what is the percentage of increased performance? Has the range increased? If so, how much? Has the fire power increased? If so, how much?
I also to had that problem, you only have to pull it(in the right zone i think) with two Triggers at the same time in one of the bolts.
Shirt and hammer my friend, shirt and hammer. Use the shirt to cushion the blue portion of the gun and the opposite side of the hammer to pry it off. be sure to wiggle both sides to see which part is suppose to come off.
@nerfperformance pad the rear and the noise will go down. unpadded a RP plunger tube will wear out fairly fast.
Most general hardware stores have a good assortment. Ask an employee and describe the size of spring you want.
good write up, but it need's to address the problem of padding. without padding that things gunnaa die fairly quickly. It also should have a O-ring replacement to get the most out of the plunger system.
I usually just go with a external power stock for my power boost, but the spring replacement is pretty neat ^^
You do not have to use a long bit like that. You just have to make sure the bit is long enough to make a hole through the AR.
Awesome video, big help for when you go to reconstruct the insides (:
Great. A little tip, rap something around the barrel when drilling it. I didn't and the drill went through the barrel right into my hand. It was a bloody mess. He careful out there.
@carlpees
I think it's for making the longstrike cs-6™ quiet after modding.
Nerf4SH Productions™
if you don't want to use a different spring. I sugeste you stretch it
I can't open mine, there's something inside mine not letting me open the gun.
Head Shot there is epoxy on a part
See in side the access door
I can't find a new spring, can I but something on its back so it will shorten it, like making it already a lil bit compressed inside of the blaster? Would it shoot stronger?
u could also stretch the spring instead of getting a new one
Totally Awesome. I love your video. Thorough video documentation. I wish others would cover things as well as you did. Thank you very much.
If you don’t have power tools, heat up a screw driver from a candle, and continuously try and poke the hole through, additionally I lost one of the springs so I took one out of a pen.
Also you can just stretch the spring instead of buying a heavy duty one, that works too.
What the? How does drilling a hole through the dart holder where it shoots help it shoot better? How would it even shoot at all?
Question: Won't removing the dart holder make the dart slide all the way to the back of the gun or straight out of the gun??? I don't understand how that helps...
Awesome video! How much can I expect to gain with this modification?
try using the backside of a hammer. It helps as a lever.
all u need is a hevier the spring like a big bad bow spring but dont make it to big or it will break the gun
very helpful, but the charging handle broke its internals when I yanked it off.
Tristan Ludvig it's all on thingiverse, man, just search longstrike and it will come up.
I’m sorry, but your wrong:
It’s a fucking Priming Handle!!
you never want to stretch a spring people, thats the worst thing you can do.where the metal bends is the exact spots where it will break or where it will fail and bend into other parts of the blaster.Shortens life big time.Buy a new upgrade spring at orange mod works,3 to 6 dollars tops for a proper spring or use a tape bracket for holding a stock spring forward is the other alt.
Tape bracket?
@nerfpeformance, thanks for this quality vid.......i've managed to put my longstrike back together!! :)
Hi does the longshot and longstrike share the same size spring?
Very Awesome video made
-Very Clear viewing
-Specifically made
-I finally get it how to mod my longstrike
THUMBS UP FOR YOU!! (:
Dude you must be way stronger than I am. Other than brute force can you suggest how I can remove the big orange cocking handles?
thank u your tutorial was a big help showing how to remove the bolt off my long strike so it can collapse like a real rife thank u again u the best
Thanks, mine kind of exploded out… it is back together
Have a good day
so mine is rusted and I can't get the bolt off...
What size drill bit works best for get the air restricter out cleanly
So my bolt handle is impressively stuck cant get it appart to disassemble any further any ideas or should I just drill it and glue it when I am done?
Similar internals like the slingfire
+Elite “TruePrimeGamer” Gamer Almost all Nerf guns have similair internals ;)
@nerfperformance hey just wondering how your plunger is faring? i noticed you didn't put any padding on it, I'm quite paranoid about this sort of thing as i just busted my recon, I'm also planning on adding my recon spring to the longstrike plunger would this work?
@nerfperformance No, it works. The gun is brocken, i can tell. I just tried it and the bolt thing is working, but doesnt fire....Its dead man. Its dead.
Well showen and easy to follow. Great job.
Awesome video, great guide for the re-build.
The bolt handles come off, you just need a hammer to pull them apart (and some muscle)
You take a hammer then take the nail pulling end and the get it around the handel and pull
I have a longstrike and its range is terrible, with this mod how much further would a nerf dart go?
Dylan Baylis you’d be surprised dude. I did the mod to a maverick as a kid and none of my guns shot closely as accurate as that gun.
Hey bro al momento de disparar suena mucho (ya esta todos los pasos desde que le hice el hueco empezo a sonar mucho) ayuda 🥺🇪🇨
The bolt handles (for me) will not come off for me. Have I put them on too tightly? I tried wedging it out with two flat head screw drivers, and it STILL wouldn't budge. Help?
I had a really hard time trying to get the cover back on. Everything was lined up perfect though
I don't like removing parts; only replace bits. The manufacturer put it there for a reason, so keep it in my opinion. Good luck :)
This worked great on my gun but now the spring doesn't lock when I prime it. I might have done something wrong when I put it back together but that doesn't seem likely because it worked for a while after the mod. Maybe something broke internally
So how much further does it shoot? And what is the point of some ductape there?
How do you just beast through the damn handle pieces at the start? Im prying and pulling and stressing the blaster's shell, and no go.
Great video, detailed without saying a word
Here you use a flat head screwdriver and stick it under the orange yoke and push down on the handle!!
won't a heavier/thicker spring put more stress on the inside parts?
Will it shoot very far as you can now
@nerfperformance I searched up prying the bolt handels for the longstrike..Help, i got all the screws out but the handels are stuck. I tried prying them but i couldnt get it..Help!!!
can i replace my broken rampage spring and put it inside the longstrike? (P.S. the spring is not broken only the plunger)
how does he just take off the bolt so easily????
Why did you put the goodfornothing locks back in?
If you want to put a different spring on in there all you Gotta do is take out the spring you don’t have to take out everything all you Gotta do is just take out the spring and put a difference a stronger spring in there and screw it back together and you’re good to go
I drilled and drilled! No difference, tell me what I'm doing wrong!!
what size drill should i use? i dont want to leave to big of a hole
Question 2: Where do you find a better spring???
can i put two springs on top of each other to make it stronger?
if you can not get the handle off get a flat head screw driver and pop it off that way worked for mine
thanks dude this helped me remove my restrictor out of my longstrike also :)
I've followed all your steps to install back but somehow the first shot after shooting, I can't cock back. The damn orange piece is stuck. then I took off all the screws and open a little bit, then I hear a thud. Try to cock again and still gets stuck. Pls help!
ive unscrewed all the screws but something is still holding it together (its not the barrel extension -.-) any ideas?
same with mine but theres a screw there and all sizes of screwdriver dont get it out
Exactly what I was going to post. Very, very helpful.
dont take out pieces without knowing where they are i learned that the hard way and pry open the blaster with a flat head screw driver if its stuck hope this helps you people
do you know how to mod the stock so you can insert/remove at will?
What type of spring did you use to replace the stock one? Im just curious. If anyone else has any suggestions for springs to use for the replacement springs feel free to comment and let me know
is that the same plunger system as the nerf recon ??????
@josephvidcreator im also having the same problem, gun is completely jammed, cant reload and such...
instead of the heavy duty spring take your old one and stretch it ,it will increase the speed of your foam dart
4:09 i know that part is the clip lock but without that part will the gun be messed up???
would it have a good affect?
if i don't have a drill, what can i use to break the AR? plz reply.
What would happen if I put a longstrike spring and a deploy spring?
How much does the new spring effect range? Also where to buy them?
On ebay he has it in the description
how do the bolt handles come off their really stiff and wont come off
