Intelligent women shop within their budget and use the resources the Lord has blessed! I agree, it's all choices! I will glean your ideas and apply them to what I can afford.
Kay, I appreciate you sharing that “style is a choice”. I do find it interesting how we see style. To some people current style looks on trend and thoughtful. To others that same look says sloppy. We all tell ourselves what we think something says, meaning “if I wore that I would mean or feel….” and then we apply that to others. Let’s be gracious to others and remember that we are all just making choices. Choices that fit our body types, our culture, our personality, our budget. Let’s also choose to see the best and assume the best in others, knowing that we want that same consideration applied to ourselves.
Of course there will be as many varying opinions as there are people who watch these videos. To each her own. But let’s not equate “style” with “class.” A “stylish” woman will know her body type, her personality preferences, and how to put together outfits that suit her and make her feel contemporary and wonderful. A “classy” woman may follow these same steps, but will never criticize others for what they are or aren’t wearing. She shows true grace. And for everyone, the best “outfits” cost nothing: poise, a smile, and good posture.
I enjoyed today's video. As a sixty something retiree, I can't justify buying at ME & EM price points. Please do a video of inexpensive but fresh and modern pieces. thx
Silvana Patrick is someone I follow also. I enjoy watching both of you for inspiration. ME+EM has beautiful clothes, I just cannot as a retired person, spend that much for my clothes. However, it is great inspiration. Thank you.
Same here. These are way beyond my budget.. the shirt and jeans alone are close to a total of 600 dollars, then there’s the purse, shoes and jewelry, easily making that a thousand-dollar outfit! But the ideas are good and I can apply them to more reasonably priced clothes. I love these videos-just wish the prices were more affordable
I have tried the tucks. It just reminds me of I went potty and got my top caught in my pants! You look so cute and stylish. I went on vacation last week and spent a great deal of my time looking at women’s outfits all ages and I found that everyone was wearing something different. And I saw jeans of all styles! It made me feel good that I can wear what I love. Untucked LOL.
I’m just trying to look put together lol! My intention is 1) not to wear anything just because it’s trending (wearing a sweater OVER my coat as if it was a scarf) and 2) creating my own classic look with clothes, shoes, purses that I don’t see everywhere (Sambas!) unless they are items I was wearing all along and the rest of the world joined in.
I understand skinny jeans are out and I applaud the straight leg jeans, but the baggy low rise jeans you are showing are indeed baggy. I do not think they complement you, sorry. Make you look bigger than you are. Not for me. I do like some of the other clothes you showed in the line, but the prices are too expensive for me and most ladies. I was also disappointed with the high prices and on top of that a $15.00 delivery charge, making the item even more expensive. I think you are so sweet and like a lot of your choices, but not these baggy sloppy looks I have seen you wear lately. sorry your choice, but don't see a lot of things I like lately. Don't mean to be mean just my opinion.
It's rather humorous. Back in the 70's leaving your shirt untucked was considered sloppy. It took me a while to leave mine untucked when it was first considered stylish. Now we are debating all these tuck choices. Just think it is funny how things change over time.
My grandmother was a wonderful seamstress and used Buttermik patterns. She entered a McCalls sewing competition in (196.?) and won a trip to Atlanta. Won and offered a job a NY Fashion week. Instead, Stayed back home in Colquitt GA which shows anyone can follow a dream but make a choice to love family.
What a shame she wasn't able to do both. If she was so good to win, she may have brought a lot of style and glamour to the fashion industry ... Lord Konows it needs it now!! Some of the so called 'red carpet' fashion is just disgusting!!!
You described the meaning of stylish very well. I don’t agree with your comment on intelligent people, there are numerous very intelligent people who were so focused on education that they missed out on style and worrying about what to wear. Those women are now maybe in retirement mode and are now paying attention to dress. We can always learn. Happy Easter.
I so appreciate your comment about not judging (not sure you used the word judging, but something like that) other people’s style choices! Reminds me of my mother’s “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.”
I like the look of your jeans, but will look for similar that are less than 300 dollars. I prefer to completely tuck and wear layers. Thanks for some great ideas. I do love your videos.
Kay, I really like most of your videos and I understand that you dress your body shape. But can you once think of people that have a massive apple shape, no butt, no hips but really big in the front and mid section. I wish I would not hear anymore about high waisted jeans and tucking. Plus I am 5.5 foot. Stuff that sit below your belly button goes up to my rib cage. It would be great, if you would show more ideas for apple shapes. Tschau Petra
This week I went outside my comfort zone and, due to your videos, I tried the half tuck. I was so surprised at how much it turned my simple Oxford shirt and dressy joggers into a stylish, casual look. Thanks!
I don't want to draw attention to my waist at all. I like structured button down shirts and blazers. I'm learning more about French women's style. They're stylish without following the trends.
Learn a few basic principles of line, shape, proportion, color, etc. and a person's style will indeed improve if she wishes. Good design is not always as high as Me and Em. I look forward to presentations featuring different price points.
After listening to this and giving it some thought, I think I’m happier looking nice and not stylish. I want clothes that fit my body and my personal style not that definition of stylish.
I really like your channel but I don’t think you realize that you basically stated that the women that don’t tuck (apple body type like myself) aren’t stylish… Honestly, we cannot tuck! You can and good for you but I disagree that we only look “nice”. @@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms
Thank you Kay for his video. Since I have been following you, I have been trying to make more "stylish" choices. It seems like sometimes I get it right and I like the way I look and sometimes I don't get it quite right. The difference- I now know what I am working toward, and this makes me feel so much better. Thank you so much.
Fellow tucker here. It does add a new dimension to outfits and how you tuck can depend on the material and length if what you are tucking . Oversized shirts can look really sloppy in the back when only tucked in front. It all depends. Love your cute little blouse and the vest! Good video!
This might not be popular, but I think that we as Americans, simply buy too many clothes. So when a high quality brand is more expensive per item than we are used to, is it really more expensive?? I think so many of us, myself included, are used to having way too many clothes in our closets. I recently downloaded a free app called OpenWardrobe and started putting my entire wardrobe into it. I have come to notice that I can make a lot of outfits with a lot fewer clothes than I thought. So maybe you buy one great pair of jeans instead of having five or six or more. 6pair x $50 (each) = $300! 10 t-shirts at $10 each = $100. I think this is just another way of looking at the cost of fashion.
I am enjoying your post today, as always. I was thinking about an idea for this kind of post. Many people are visual learners, I see a very enlightening way to teach this. Take the “comfortable non styled outfit” just like your jeans and red top, start with the basics, then style it. Show the difference the styling makes. Front tuck, then add belt, possibly add a vest or another completer piece, then add shoes, make up, hair style etc. Thank you for turning me on to Me & EM. THEIR STUFF IS LOVELY! I am looking forward to ordering some pieces, like your terrific jeans. I am an opposite body type then you. I was a hourglass, but I am slowly evolving into an upside down triangle. I am 5’2”, about 150 lbs, short legs, big feet and 74 years old! I am in the process of learning how to buy and wear my clothes . It’s a journey! I find I have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear. I’m going to have to almost start completely over! Thank you so much for your effort to educate me (at 74) on how to dress myself in a stylish way!
Great to hear. Thanks so much for sharing. I really appreciate you pausing to share your thoughts and support. I know you’ll love ME+EM when you place an order. 🥰
Great video. I try to put thought into each outfit every day so that I can reflect style. I also notice that if I’m not feeling great on a particular day, but I put more intention into what I’m wearing, I often feel better. Thanks for another video helping us older women meet each day feeling great!
I wish manufacturers would stop putting lightened patches on jeans, especially on the thighs and butt. I want my jeans to be all one color with no distressing or raw edges.
I like the looks but I'm short and a lot of fabric in the wide leg pants I'm not sure of. Can you do a show with a short model comparing the same outfit?
Thanks for the great advice. I like your statement that finding quality that can last. Also, that the classic pieces can outlast trends. What one person likes, another does not. I love your shirt today. You have a cute nice figure, but I do believe the baggy jeans do not compliment that. I know they are trendy but it does nothing for a cute figure. That's just my opinion. Diet and exercise really makes a world of difference when it comes to a nice style and trend. I would like to know what you do for that. At your age, you look great!
Good morning Kay I follow you here and also on your Facebook pages thank you for sharing your styles and educating me on how to style and explaining what style is. Fashion and style are definitely different and it’s ok to do you(me) because it’s my own style you’re saying you own your own style so TYFS 💖❤️💖
Although I understand where you are coming from, I find more and more that your choices are for women without large bellies. Every top that you styled is too short for my belly. Tucking in the way that you do also seems to me to accentuate it all the more and I have tried to wear belts but between the belly and the sway back it just doesn’t work. I’m just not on board with all of this. I guess. Will have to settle for looking neat and put together as I go out the door. Oh and I have had people say to me did you realize that you only tucked in half your shirt. That’s awkward.
Same with me. Short apple shape women with bellies look terrible with tucked in tops. I have mine tailored if they are too long. Remember Kay has a good figure and is not short.
I’m not short but even so these styles don’t work for my belly. And I know she is blessed with a good figure and I respect and admire that. I just feel that too much of what she is showing is for cute figures and not so much for ample ones. That being said, I just know I’m out of my league.
The point I was trying to make - and maybe I didn’t do too well - was that you need to make the choices that are right for you and then own those. We’re all going to make different style choices and that’s okay. 👍🏻
@@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms I know that but I find that the choices you make don’t resonate with me because they don’t work for my body. There is a real disconnect here that I can no longer get over. And as far as the tucks are concerned, I’ve haven’t seen anyone here in NC or even in Pittsburgh when I visit who do them. But I know all you influencers love them and that’s fine but I think when you have a body that’s larger, it’s a fine line before you look sloppy and I’d rather look neat and appropriate for the occasion than worrying about looking stylish. It’s the choice I make. I’m not even sure I care about being stylish any more.
Style is hard to define and this was interesting. I enjoy your perspective. Personally I think it's innate to a large extent. It's that combination of factors that create the entire essence of the person and what they present to the world. Imo it's there or it isn't and it's almost effortless.
Ooh this was so Good👌Really good Style Advice Kay and I love how you show us that we have a ‘Choice’ ❤ And I agree with you we are so lucky there is so many Choices and Styles out there for us now. I remember when I was young if the new ‘Style Shape’ didn’t suit you or your body shape , it was just tough luck , you just hoped it would go out of style quickly .
I’m always at odds with clothing. I love classic, a little bit of funky, and clothing with a little bit of an edge. Depends on my mood. I consider myself to be modern and “with it” but the only thing Im not sure about are full leg and baggy jeans. They don’t seem to be very attractive (on older woman🤭) but I’m going to give them a try! to give them a try . Thank-you Kay I enjoy your podcasts!🌼
Good day, i like your channel. I am from South Africa 72 years old. The clothes are very nice but sooo expensive. I can however use the ideas as we also get nice clothesline here.
I think it was probably a blend of several things actually. I probably had on Estée Lauder’s Rebellious Rose with some clothes and then when I put the pink sweater on I put something pink on over it. 😉
Loved this video. I am apple shaped, so tucking in my shirt is never something I want to do cause it shows my belly, but I have to say it does make an outfit look better with better proportions. I figure hey, this belly gave me two beautiful daughters, which also gave me four beautiful grandchildren, so maybe it’s not such a bad thing lol.
My style has evolved to a retirement form of classic. I’ve been staying away from prints, except for stripes and muted florals in a couple of my dresses. Because I live in the Pacific Northwest, I do wear plaid shirts as it is the uniform here. I love the coastal granny style with a touch of the French relaxed style.
I’ve never been a fan of baggie jeans, it makes me feel and look sloppy and not put together. I usually never go with the new trends, because they never last long. Always enjoy watching your videos!
Just a suggestions: What about showing a different style for example: Boho style(as you mentioned in the video), or coastal grandmother. You have a very distinct taste and style, but iam missing tips about different styles like I mentioned. I cannot wear elegant elevated clothes. It wouldn't suit me. Also in Europe where I live people are much more casual than USA. It's really just a suggestion. Never a criticism. Ido like your videos, always encouraging and uplifting.
Thank you. I can certainly appreciate your suggestions. However I just don’t have the clothes in my closet to create boho looks really. I have shown coastal grandma looks before, however, and I could probably do that again. I’ll work on that one 😉
Dear Kay! I love your videos and your blogs and your emails! I think you are so thoughtful and kind with all your suggestions. I think you always look beautiful and joyful! Thank you for the explanation of the "half-tuck" that it shows where your waist is. (@ about 13:30 minute mark) As a woman who is "short-waisted," I don't want my waist defined, so I choose untucked most of the time. This video helped me understand why I don't like the way the front tuck or half-tuck looks on me!❤❤❤
Yes, that is probably the wise choice most of the time for you. Good call. But if you ever wear a lower rise pant you might want to try a tuck and see what you think. 🥰
I like those jeans. I think I own some like that. I’m hoping it gets and stays warm enough for shorts here. I don’t wear a lot of button downs. I mostly wear t shirts. But I did buy a tank so I can wear a button down over it. Until I exercise my arms looking better, I need the coverage. My sunglasses are prescription. So that’s what I’ll be wearing all the time. Otherwise, I have to take them off and put my glasses on. That’s what I did before I got these prescription sunglasses. And it’s not fun.
Enjoyed the video, really made me think. I found a beautiful scarf today was not sure what I would do with it. Now I will wear it around my waist. It looks great!
Happy Easter/Purim! One of the greatest gifts I received recently was the thought that you do not have to make/have an opinion about everything! It has freed up my mind to let a lot of stuff slide--like whether I like a front tuck or not.
Interesting influencer to follow. Silvana is a trained stylist who, as you say, is intelligent, stylish & fashionable. Yay for the shout out to her, & as usual, thanks for these informative videos. This one really resonates!
Great video, Kay! Informative, interesting & fun! I appreciate that you're choosing to be selective with your partnerships. Quality is very important! And your outfits are looking so stylish lately...I think that we can see you more clearly...not just the clothes.
I recently received a catalog from Me & Em and a postcard yesterday. I imagine they are promoting their new store in NYC. I will need to check the store out the next time I visit my daughter in that area. Anyways, I think those jeans are very flattering on you. They do look like they are more of a high-rise than low-rise. I am a true petite girl, so I imagine their styles won't work for me. I love your ideas of making intelligent choices when styling our clothes. Thanks for the video.
It sounds like you would do well in monitone outfits. You could experiment with really thin belts in matching colors to your outfit (Amazon has lots, including Hermes dupes). If it doesn't work, just send it back.
I use to watch Silvana and she's amazing however her style was always too dressed up for my more casual lifestyle. She also styles very baggy pants and bermuda shorts often and I don't prefer those.
your videos are always enjoyable to watch...this one made me realize I don't actually want to be stylish, what a strange conclusion to come to, but thank you for helping me realize that, it actually helped me see why I have clothes that fit well and look nice but I NEVER wear
@@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms Although, your videos give me great ideas for the basics that I live in. Nice choices and quality fabrics, which I am very much interested in.
I remember her also saying something like..a stylish woman doesn’t wear what everyone else wears because she knows what works for her. I love that!
🥰

Kay, I appreciate you sharing that “style is a choice”. I do find it interesting how we see style. To some people current style looks on trend and thoughtful. To others that same look says sloppy. We all tell ourselves what we think something says, meaning “if I wore that I would mean or feel….” and then we apply that to others.
You did make that clear but you also made it clear that if one doesn’t tuck you will look nice but not look stylish. @@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms
Thanks for sharing! 🥰
Hahaha! Yeah, there really are so many options right now. We should just enjoy! 🥰
I like the softer silhouette on you as well as the softer colors Beautiful.
I’m always at odds with clothing. I love classic, a little bit of funky, and clothing with a little bit of an edge. Depends on my mood.
I consider myself to be modern and “with it” but the
only thing Im not sure about are full leg and baggy jeans.
Thanks for the tips. Love your lip color. Can you tell us what it is. Thanks
I want to know as well!
I think it was probably a blend of several things actually. I probably had on Estée Lauder’s Rebellious Rose with some clothes and then when I put the pink sweater on I put something pink on over it. 😉
Half-tuck button-down shirts may work for some women but on me it looks pretentious. Can’t do that one. I did at least try it a couple of times.
Still love the lip color! And the print blouse is really nice too bad it is so expensive!
Thank you. 😊
Thanks for the tip on Silvanah Patrick, I will check her out.
Great!😊
l don't really care for the busy vest over the busy blouse. l do like most of what you present, thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
I love the pretty blouse with the lace trim and the pink top, very feminine, looks great on you, Kay.
So puffed sleeves are ok for us older ladies? I like that they go to the elbow .
Absolutely! I love this style and think that it is very flattering on everyone.😊
What about body type? I’m a pear shape and can’t pull off the wider leg pants I just look out of balance. Any suggestions?
Generally a straight or trouser cut jean should work nicely for you. I have more info about dressing for each body type at my website. 😊
I’ve never been a fan of baggie jeans, it makes me feel and look sloppy and not put together. I usually never go with the new trends, because they never last long. Always enjoy watching your videos!
Thanks for sharing!!
Just a suggestions:
What about showing a different style for example:
Boho style(as you mentioned in the video), or coastal grandmother.
(@ about 13:30 minute mark)
As a woman who is "short-waisted," I don't want my waist defined, so I choose untucked most of the time. This video helped me understand why I don't like the way the front tuck or half-tuck looks on me!❤❤❤
Yes, that is probably the wise choice most of the time for you. Good call. But if you ever wear a lower rise pant you might want to try a tuck and see what you think. 🥰
Thank you, Kay, for all the information. Beautiful
Have a great day. 🥰🙏👍🐰✝️☘️🌿🌷🐑🐣🐥❤️
Thanks for being here!🥰
You look so pretty ‼️
I like those jeans. I think I own some like that. I’m hoping it gets and stays warm enough for shorts here. I don’t wear a lot of button downs. I mostly wear t shirts. But I did buy a tank so I can wear a button down over it. Until I exercise my arms looking better, I need the coverage. My sunglasses are prescription. So that’s what I’ll be wearing all the time. Otherwise, I have to take them off and put my glasses on. That’s what I did before I got these prescription sunglasses. And it’s not fun.
Great video, thanks for sharing this with us.
Very glad that you enjoyed it. 😊
Great video
Hi Kay, I enjoyed this video! So good! Can you please tell me what size you wear in the Me & Em jeans? You look so beautiful as always!Thank you 😊❤
Thank you, Kay! In a recent short you're wearing a green knit top...can you please say where it's from?
Enjoyed the video, really made me think. I found a beautiful scarf today was not sure what I would do with it. Now I will wear it around my waist. It looks great!
Happy Easter/Purim! One of the greatest gifts I received recently was the thought that you do not have to make/have an opinion about everything! It has freed up my mind to let a lot of stuff slide--like whether I like a front tuck or not.
Great info and inspiration - thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!🥰
What a thoughtful presentation Kay. So much to consider. Thank you!!
What lipstick are you wearing, Thanks!
Great video! An intelligent discussion of what style is all about.
Beautiful choices as usual!
Thank you! 😊
Lovely suggestions ❤
Thank you!😊
Interesting influencer to follow. Silvana is a trained stylist who, as you say, is intelligent, stylish & fashionable. Yay for the shout out to her, & as usual, thanks for these informative videos. This one really resonates!
Yes! Thank you!😊
Great video! ❤
😊
Great video, Kay!
Informative, interesting & fun!
I appreciate that you're choosing to be selective with your partnerships. Quality is very important!
And your outfits are looking so stylish lately...I think that we can see you more clearly...not just the clothes.
Quality is something that I look for in all of my clothes. 😊 Thank you for watching!
Those jeans are amazing. Do you have a link?
I recently received a catalog from Me & Em and a postcard yesterday. I imagine they are promoting their new store in NYC. I will need to check the store out the next time I visit my daughter in that area. Anyways, I think those jeans are very flattering on you. They do look like they are more of a high-rise than low-rise. I am a true petite girl, so I imagine their styles won't work for me. I love your ideas of making intelligent choices when styling our clothes. Thanks for the video.
How wonderful! You should definitely stop by their store next time you go for a visit. Thank you for watching my channel. 😊
What about us short ladies? If I tuck or wear a belt it looks like it's just below my breasts. Tucking looks ridiculous on me.
Yeah, I certainly can’t wear everything she does, but she just has such smart style advice. Thanks for sharing. 😊
👍👍👍👏👏👏
Good morning Kay, I like the jeans. My mother, sister and I all have fat knees. The skinny jeans were never an option for me. ❤ Jan
Hahaha! Fat knees here too 🙋🏼♀️. And fat calves too!
I love your videos, your ideas and supporting other ladies. You introduced me to ME & EM a few months ago. Thank you!
Thank you! ME+EM is wonderful so I hope you're enjoying some of their pieces. 😊
🎉🎉 🎉
This was great Kay. Thank you.
your videos are always enjoyable to watch...this one made me realize I don't actually want to be stylish, what a strange conclusion to come to, but thank you for helping me realize that, it actually helped me see why I have clothes that fit well and look nice but I NEVER wear
Thanks for sharing. Perfectly sound conclusion if that’s what you settle on. 😊
@@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms Although, your videos give me great ideas for the basics that I live in. Nice choices and quality fabrics, which I am very much interested in.
Yes, the jeans look great on you.
