@@ari90i I know that, the duct tape is helping it stay in place. it's literally held down with duct-tape, otherwise it would've moved. Guess what? to keep this rig in place, I'll say it again, duct-tape was used.
Kamilohbk A second piston is needed to help empty the ballast syringe of water while at a depth where the pressure of the surrounding water is too much for a single piston to force the ballast syringe empty. As Thanos said, duck tape is needed to help secure this second piston to the ballast syringe.
Not only is this actually freaking awesome, but I genuinely learned a thing or two about the functionality of a submarine. Always great to see what you're working on next! ^-^
Coming back to this comment after the release of 3.0, a part of me still agrees. However, magnets are certainly more effective, and leave far less room for error.
He only took the radio controller parts from the submarine though. Lego probably manufactures similar parts too but maybe they were not so easily available or more expensive?
Lego sells Rc-Parts aswell, however they're shit and overpriced. I dont think it matters if the rc-module has a "lego" on it, it has the same functionality. There's nothing special going on with the parts from the toy submarine.

Dear Channel, this is honestly one of the very best videos i saw on youtube eversince.
I am addicted to childhood memories that got me playing with water, boats, lego, in the summer, by the sea. And here its all in one.
Also perfect the single steps and trials, true and with natural sounds.
This is so good.
If i had a few suggestions to make:
Please do more videos with stuff like here.
Constructions for the elements like water and wind.
There is so much to try out.
E. G. a sailboat with all the adjustment steering of sail and stuff.
A Micro Oil Rig with true drill function.
A kite steering station to the ground.
Thank you very very much for this nice video!

12:18 is the perfect example of "If it moves and it shouldn't, use duct tape"
That wasnt the issue. The problem was at that depth there was too much external pressure so the syringe couldn't eject water
@@ari90i I know that, the duct tape is helping it stay in place. it's literally held down with duct-tape, otherwise it would've moved. I know the problem was the pressure was too high at the bottom of the lake, the single piston couldn't handle that, so that's why a 2nd one was needed. Guess what? to keep this rig in place, I'll say it again, duct-tape was used.
@@thanosattorneyatlaw4062 Im not sure, and im no physics man, but how would a second piston helped/worked in that case?
Kamilohbk A second piston is needed to help empty the ballast syringe of water while at a depth where the pressure of the surrounding water is too much for a single piston to force the ballast syringe empty. As Thanos said, duck tape is needed to help secure this second piston to the ballast syringe.

Not only is this actually freaking awesome, but I genuinely learned a thing or two about the functionality of a submarine.
Always great to see what you're working on next! ^-^
That seems to be the case with most technic sets
I think the thing he's working on next is a 1:1 of the mars opportunity rocket
I prefer this version over the redesign. While the magnet propellers are cool, a part of me loves the time put into a proper sealant shown here.
Coming back to this comment after the release of 3.0, a part of me still agrees. However, magnets are certainly more effective, and leave far less room for error.

Lego POWERED submarine. Not the whole submarine made of legos....

I’m surprised the remote worked that well through water.
Jeff Chamberlain I’m guessing the low frequency helps a bit. You wouldn’t get anymore than a few mm with 2.4ghz
Yeah, I think that's why he used another remote subs controller instead of the stock lego remotes. Probably needs the different frequency for water stuff.
Yeah, but does anyone know what module he used for running 9v motors of a 3.7v rc module???
Whenever I attempt to do that kind of stuff with old, trash rc cars I find and try to imply them in a newer handmade steel chassis, I just can't run the 12v 775s of the stupid Chinese 4.5v rc car module sets that no one makes separately GOD KNOWS WHY THE HELL and the 5v relay switches jank I attempted to make just can't go in reverse polarity when the input input is reversed CAUSE I DIDN'T WANT THE JANKED OUT MOTOR CONTROLLER TO BE BIGGER THAN THE 4S battery that is gonna run my never happening dream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LIKE FUCK ME!!! JUST HOW MUCH DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE A SIMPLE 40A 4 CHANNEL RF RC MODULE KIT!!!
anyway, sorry for the frustration but if someone could help me with if not the link, then at least the name of the chip of the small red board...
I mean, finding schematic diagrams of circuit board for high power RF modules are really hard to stumble upon...
... And even harder to make.
Typing this on a smartphone is Thumb aching and frustrating enough...
Pls send help.
I mean, it was a remote control set for a toy SUBMARINE. I'd surprised if it didn't work in water.
Jeff Chamberlain cause there’s no remote, Stig is driving
I am about to be 40. I never understood how a submarine can increase and decrease it's buoyancy till now. Thank you. That made so much sense. Fill the volume with water, note the weight. Make your system wee bit lighter so it floats, suck in water to sink. Push it back out of the volume to rise back up.
You need higher gear ratio for the ballast ;) Love your vids!
Seems like the waterpressure deep down is too much for the motor
@@itmarcel i was just ready to type the same thing XD
@@shadowlord0162 Glad I wasn't the only one! You could definitely go crazier with this one by getting a slightly larger container and refining the mechanics of each control. But the fact he got something workable in a small pond is amazing on its own.
