    Dude I haven’t watched this video yet because I’ve been going through your high elf videos from earlier this year. I wanted to find a recent video so you can see this. PLEASE keep making content. It is thorough in a way that no other content creator has covered. As somebody who has only ever played historical TW (which is very linear compared to WH), these are very helpful videos. I’ve actually started an Imrik campaign and was looking for some tips when I found this channel. He’s the most fun Lord I’ve played so far. Keep up the good work!!!

      Thanks mate. A lot of work goes into keeping the vids condensed so really appreciate it. I answer comments on every video (unless I don't get a notification) so feel free to ask anything, anywhere. Imrik's (ME) campaign is notoriously difficult, I hope your previous Total War experience carries you through! If you survive that I'd recommend Yvresse and Naggarythe as other interesting campaigns. Otherwise the Empire give a great experience which feels very Rome 2ish. Cheers for supporting the channel!

  • @OniGanon
    @OniGanon 2 года назад +8

    Blackguards and Sisters of Slaughter can hold the line in melee fairly well. Would be really nice if DE had a high tier infantry with silver shields though...
    Might also be worth mentioning that Black Ark Captains are Immortal from the get go and aren't subject to the Loyalty mechanic.

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  2 года назад +3

      While I did find the lack of Silver Shield infantry a hurdle, it's one I actually appreciate. If DE had a Silverin Guard equivalent then once you unlock the crossbow researches you would essentially just play them as staple HE defensive block, but instead the DE must think out of the box and use flanking units (Warlocks, Hydras, Dragons) to support their frontline. This is what makes them unique from High Elves (disciplined and hold formation) the Dark Elves have many moving parts vying for position and even crossbows can reposition for the killer shot. I appreciate not having the option for defensive play as DE as it makes my battlefield experience special from HE :)

    Druchii guide!
    i love the way you emphasize on diplomacy at the begining of this video. Diplomatic skill / long term planning is REALLY important in the long turn for any faction (bar chaos and beastman) , also some teritories are just more valuable as buffer state than direct ownership.
    Druchii playstyle really contrast to their Asur counterpart... attacking is really their forte . However, i feel that Dark elf armies are nothing when their monsters are killed... their lords also tend to mount big flying monster which are easy to shot down.
    Overall Druchii isnt just my playstyle , too much micro on the battle field. Like you said , their units are weak , no healing for the monster to do the tanking so combined arms , magic and support units are key to gain victory with minimum casualties.
    on personal note, i feel bad for Malekith a bit. The guy tries hard to please his father but end up like that lol. With constant tragedies among his best friend, wife , and finally his father i feel that Malekith is a plaything for Asuryan and Khaine lol.
    Thnks for this guide!

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  2 года назад

      Appreciate the comments and supporting the channel. You're not wrong about diplomacy. It's more than just signing trade deals, it's your ability to control your engagements. The Dark Elves can be more powerful than HE but it requires high level play whereas you can achieve great things without high level execution with the HE. To feel the DE power they need the economy pumping, Black Arks garrisoning capitals, prioritising the right research and make use of their T3 hero caps (lots of sorceress very early is strong). When it all comes together it's incredibly strong, but it requires all the parts to work.
      Malekith's story is interesting, having a rightful claim and waging war to take it.... It's happened once or maybe twice in real life ;)

    In my campain, the one faction that spawns below Malekith was instantly incinerated by the combined assaults of both Beastmen of the Brass bull, and the Tomb Kings of the Red Desert....so not sure what I could have done to really help them in that moment considering the circumstances I was in, I was still able to get Crone and Malus (Malus is easy enough since the dude loved me anyway since we start with a alliance) but am having trouble with Rykarth currently as the one other dark elf faction decided to bum rush him first and they absolutely hate me for almost no reason. And considering the condition of the lands currently I am pretty sure Morathi was also killed almost immediately as the beastmen went south, and I didn't see them again after that, but wasn't told of their demise. Also all of Forgebound and those around it were all burned to the ground by either Skaven that came out of nowhere, the Beastmen, or the Tomb Kings....so you can tell how well my campaign is going thusfar...

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  2 года назад

      First up, Malekith's start isn't the easiest so good work getting established. Sounds like you're on the path to victory and building up near the coast which is the right idea.
      The beastmen sound brutal! They often maintain a presence but that's quite a tear they're on!
      Most minor factions (forgebound, etc) will end up being crushed or absorbed by major factions so Clan Rictis being a major player is fairly standard. Make sure you have the north secure before attacking them as they are a handy buffer from Alith Anar. Hire shielded dark shard to counter him when you're ready.
      Rakarth can be confederated in only a few turns. Any turn where he's poor, gifts will cost $500, so drop 8-14 gifts across 2 turns and you should be good to confed. Be careful not to overgift as they'll spend money on troops, making them less inclined to lose their independence.
      You can send a Deathhag on a mission down south to discover Blessed dread and confed Lokhir using the same method (if he's still alive).
      Clar Karond (below DE) are in a tough spot. Their main benefit is using them to keep the south occupied long enough to consolidate Naggarond and Hag Graef. Dark Elves will hate each other for no reason (you didn't think twice before attacking anyone, did you? ;)
      The odd gift to keep them from falling negative in relations can be good to keep things your way. Also, if you want a faction to live and see their BoP dropping too low, then gift them! give them funds to keep the enemy off you so you can focus on where you need.
      Getting Crone is very easy to get and you can take your time getting her. Malus can be difficult to get early, but he'll usually happen at some point. Good job on getting him early.
      Remember you're evil so others are averted to you, but you can still ask other factions to join your wars to help divide and conquer. Keep building your coastal presence and don't expand too quickly and you'll feel things come under control and will be filthy rich and ready to take the world ;)
      Recommend the follow up video to this on DE Heroes (check description). By the end of your campaign you'll feel ready to rock the next campaign ;)

      @@ElvenPlotArmour Should also mention funny enough that Clan Rictus is at war with the orcs in the badlands and also some in the empire and the dark elves and most places...least to say they Vermentided way to early.
      I sent my black ark originally to go meet up with Rykarth, hopefully I can gift him to my side as he currently seems to be invading Britannia, as I wasn't able to get to him fast enough due to the orcs beating back the dwarfs in the south and then attacking me. Am currently working towards destroying Mund (because I dont need a bunch of upset monkeys behind me) before focusing my efforts on the southern front with the Tomb Kings in Hag Graef and below before hopefully they become established enough to be a thorn in my side, luckily do have an extra Hag witch I can send south so hopefully can deal with that, least to say my economy hasn't been the best currently due to lots of random factions coming out of nowhere to ruin things from beastmen to tomb kings to Orcs and soon enough Mund (though I'll be the one causing the trouble there) as for the other dark elf factions the ones that despised me (minor ones) were destroyed in a matter of turns by the beastmen and Rictus, while I feel I can easily gain favor with the rest now because of that.
      So while the campaign isn't the best, least to say I just need to do a few things differently in order to consolidate my region, your advice definitely helps as I didn't know how the gifting system works, which will more than definitely help me get Rykarth to my side in a shorter amount of time, as for the squid boi in the south that may be a bit tougher due to just how far down he is, but I'll see if he is still alive, hopefully the other factions to the south stomped out the Beastmen before they became too much trouble, or if nothing else made sure they slowed down.
      I will also most definitely be looking into the video you suggested by the way, been enjoying my playthrough thusfar but with how things are going I will definitely need to act even faster to confed the remaining big players before they either get themselves killed or they become too powerful to confed easily, Rykarth may be the hardest now as he seems to be winning his current war on Britannia, while also having support from two dark elf factions. Hopefully will not be too much trouble as it seems like he does want to accept alot of deals with me but relations just arent improving fast enough. So again that gift suggestion will immensely help me as I usually have a good 500 or more in my bank at the end of each turn at least. I also confederated Crone near the beginning so I could get her Gold mine early to help build funds much faster, while also supporting the armies she gave me, luckily her enemy I cleaned up after doing so only had enough funds to keep a army of dreadspears....you can imagine how well that went for them.

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  2 года назад

      @@bibby659 Even in the ocean, be careful sailing forces into new territory - it's unnerving for those around you. Heroes are the safest bet.
      As for Malus, as long as you wall up the south of the island you can use those isles as a cash cow if you wish to continue on the north.
      Rictis will have been dragged into wars with alliances he's signed in desperation (likely to your spanning kingdom.
      As for confeds, it's a massive misconception that they are critical for success. Confederating can slow your turns down to a halt. If the target faction is dominating in their wars and building up provinces with 'their' gold then let them do the lifting for you until they stagnate :)
      Becoming large commands great resources but it also makes you the pressing concern for the rest of the world to deal with. Just make sure you have a plan in advance and good luck. Sounds like a won campaign.

    if you arent a huge fan of the shades as in esthetics what is a good substitute? could you get away with sticking with dark shards? or are you really shooting yourself in the foot? i enjoy the dark elf theme and they are my favorite faction, although i enjoy the warlocks and the occasional shade units here and there i dont really want to field just a mass army of mainly shades D: much thanks for this video man.

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  2 года назад +1

      This is one instance where there is no way not to shoot yourself in the foot with such a restriction. It's like Dwarves not using their best defensive infantry - elven power is tied to archers thus not using your best archer is material. That said, you can survive without shades, especially if you're not playing above Normal. Having high level casters on flying mounts will deal most of your damage anyway. Darkshards with shields are certainly a step back, but they're still good as the next best ranged option and can still do respectable damage if ranked up. Be sure to get the Lord Skills on the red line (buff to level 7 and above, etc).
      I don't only field armies of shades either, but the core of your army should revolve around 10ish shades with other units supporting that main block, but there is variety in there. A hydra and black dragon and some hero support is always fun. Sisters of Slaughter function very well in the mid game too and work very well with shielded dark shards. Depending on your style in the mid game, defensive = bolt thrower, offensive = warlock cavalry.
      Hope that helps, and cheers for the support!
