I'm not surprised when a man does something stupid. It could have also been intended as sabotage, but my money's on general stupidity, especially given how long this one hasn't been shorn.
Let's be honest, it's an old guy and his grandson in Texas who, haven't even shorn their Mountain dwelling animals in 4 years; we know they're not intelligent. Even aside from an empathy thing, why let any part of your herd get stressed out, overheated, and die?
I was most impressed that she bluntly told them to be quiet. That llama had never been touched or shorn, it must’ve felt like a real, shock, and both she and he could’ve been hurt. The animal’s safety and comfort, and her safety, were most important. She had to focus intensely and keep herself and the animal safe, and they were insensitive to both. She stayed in firm control of the llama AND the guys. I didn’t see this as a feminism thing, or a reason for viewers to take a swipe at their gender. I saw just two professionals trying to do a hard, dangerous job without undue stress or extended time on the llama, and the men yelling was inappropriate. The llama was more important, and he needed to have a good first experience to build on, for everybody’s sake. When things are crucial there’s no time for social niceties.
@@Amblin80s I'm a retired Scottish shepherd and sheep shearer. I've watched this ladies channel with interest and admiration but if this is actually a covert site for the abuse of males then I'm out of here. Good job, well done, another enemy made.
I loved the way you handled him. The amusing scene was his getting into the trailer with a mouthful of hay and a stance that “lied” to the other llamas: “I fixed her! “ 😂
I know in these cases you really don't care about making the animal "pretty", but I do just have to say, once you got all that dirty matted fibre off he, he really was a handsome lad, really stunning spotted markings. Thanks to you he can show them off now!
A lot of it has to do with how skilled she is at reading what he’s feeling and thinking, moving when he’s had enough in one spot, coming back later…. Letting him know she isn’t going away, either. It was like watching a dance with an experienced partner.
Watchers need to be told about what calmness does for giving the animal the best experience. I like how you show him his antics are not effective in stopping you from cleaning off the growth. Shearing is an important profession .

Who on earth would wanna watch your videos WITHOUT your informative, serious, and often humorous commentary????!!! You and your wife are beautiful inside and out!! What you 2 are doing can be extremely dangerous but you do it for these poor animals so they can live as safe, comfortable, and cared for as they should have been from day 1. I appreciate what you guys do!!!
@Bea_Esser We'll just have to agree to disagree on that one. I personally didn't know anything about sheep and llama shearing, so I not only enjoy listening to the voiceovers but also the fascinating facts by 2 fascinating and interesting women. I think it's also quite kind of them to do 2 videos of the same shearing with and without their awesome commentary as very few youtubers do that.
Yes, it is nice. I watched both versions and the one with the voice-over is more enjoyable. A bit more work with editing and when you are exhausted from this kind of manual labor sitting down to edit a video is probably the last thing you want to do. So thank you Katy for doing so.
I'm glad you brought up the heat and how they are not used to the climate. It's just like the people who live in hot climates and get dogs like Siberian Huskies. Some animals are made for colder climates and shouldn't be forced to live in such hot places.
I watched both. He is absolutely gorgeous!!! He seemed to do alot better then I thought he would...you had your hands full. But as usual you handled him super well. Thank you for helping him. He really needed that👏👍😉☺️!

Man, he is just beautiful. It’s sad to see him afraid, but I know it has to be done. We have recently adopted a baby toy poodle that shys away from every attempt to pick her up. She’s very sweet, and loves to be held and snuggle, but getting a hold on her is always a process. The game is to stop it from being a game. If she grows up, thinking a game of dodge dog is funny, it could be dangerous. The recall, and scoop up might save her life someday, and chasing her around just won’t work. Sorry guys, this is a shearing channel, not a doggy channel, but watching that young man get scared and angry just brought Dolly to mind. Good job girl, he’s gonna be ok now, and he has a new friend.

I used to live in Houston, Tx. So yeah, I know how hot it can be and I feel for animals with long hair. Hugs to you and yours for your abilities. Stay cool.
He must have felt amazing. Feeling the breeze for the first time in years and the heat being more than enough to prevent sudden nudity from feeling uncomfortably cold in its contrast to the sheer amount of padding he was covered in. And no more pinching from the matting!
"The animals have raised me, and I know them" is such a universal sentiment to anyone who's lived around animals their whole lives, and really keyed into them-- it amazes me how some people just never do. All things considered you were amazing with this guy.
I am absolutely amazed at what you do with these animals. I have no connection whatsoever with animal shearing but am very amazed and captivated at watching all that thick fleece (or fur) come off like it does. You obviously know what you are doing. It is (pardon this!) shear delight to watch!
"Sharp Gear No Fear, so let's get out there and Shear." Best catch phrase ever!
I read your comment as she said it 😆😱
Yall should put out shirts saying that!
❤
That was a really good rap right there!
That might not be enough against Mike Ehrmantraut of lamas ;)
All I could think, when you said how hot it was, is oh lord, he has worn that coat 3 summers!! He is probably real happy now that he is cleaned up!

Katy, you and Darien are the best! Your knowledge and compassion for these animals (especially first timers) is a real light in the world. Thanks ❤
I used to live in Houston, Tx. So yeah, I know how hot it can be and I feel for animals with long hair. Hugs to you and yours for your abilities. Stay cool.
I love your concern for the animals!!
Gorgeous coloring! Great job!
He must have felt amazing. Feeling the breeze for the first time in years and the heat being more than enough to prevent sudden nudity from feeling uncomfortably cold in its contrast to the sheer amount of padding he was covered in. And no more pinching from the matting!
He is absolutely gorgeous. And you have some absolutely mad skills.
You are so good with how you work with these animals. He must feel so much better. Great job!
"The animals have raised me, and I know them" is such a universal sentiment to anyone who's lived around animals their whole lives, and really keyed into them-- it amazes me how some people just never do. All things considered you were amazing with this guy.
He is absolutely amazing! Love his spots!
Your videos are addictive !! Shear on ... Happy llamas ❤
I am absolutely amazed at what you do with these animals. I have no connection whatsoever with animal shearing but am very amazed and captivated at watching all that thick fleece (or fur) come off like it does. You obviously know what you are doing. It is (pardon this!) shear delight to watch!
