James S. Harris III - Flyte Tyme Productions 1992 Demo Instrumental - December 19, 1992 (TTWLG)

In December 1992, Janet Jackson and Rene Elizondo left Edina, Greater Minneapolis, Minnesota for Anguilla for their Christmas vacation, after recording various material with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, her first album recorded at the elite suburb (Edina) studios.
Prior to taking off, Ms. Jackson was presented with a set of demo instrumentals for planned further recordings for the 5th album project, already in progress since October 1992. One in particular she really didn't care for...built around a sample of James Brown's 1974 "Papa Don't Take No Mess"...
She ended up playing it incessantly, across the island as the year 1992 came to its close.
After two weeks passed and a whole new year of 1993 began, they returned to Minneapolis and in the midst of one January midnight at the palatial "Jam" estate (at the end), Mr. Harris got a paging via his home intercom system while asleep...
(The montage is meant to represent her December 1992 journey from Flyte Tyme Studios to the airport to Anguilla, vacation, and back to Jimmy's mansion in January 1993. Majority of photography taken is from 1992, save for a few from modern day Anguilla or Minnesota.)
The photo of the Benz isn't random, because there's a missing photo of Janet from 1992 in the parking lot of Flyte Tyme, standing next to a black 600SEL. Saw it some 13 years ago, but it never got backed up.

The piano gives it more of that classic “smooth jazz” sound, very relevant for that period. Stripping it made it feel more timeless an unique. The inspiration makes so much sense now. Very cool.
