    I bought this laptop about a year ago and returned it promptly a week after. spent a lot of time fiddling around with the AMD drivers and discovered the AMD drivers can only be updated from Corsairs website and not AMD's own. Fortnite required the graphics card drivers to be the latest and with Corsair preventing me from downloading and installing the latest AMD from their website felt like a complete mistep. Why does the laptop manufacturer need to micromanage the driver process? I promptly replace it with an ASUS ROG Strix and discovered that this was indeed a Corsair issue. Now that I see that the this laptop is on sale for nearly $900 off from a year ago. Convince me that it is worth taking another chance with the Voyager.

    • @kazmiee

      I swear, they put in all this energy and investment to bring a new and worthy competitor to the market and... Drivers?.. really? It is so sad that we will probably never see a voyager II. Thank fully I did not have to by force get the drivers from their website. Though even with Drivers from AMD website there were strange issues like the mouse stuttering only on wondows desktop. Even I had almost given up and then I installed the AMD pro drivers for creatives and that has been working perfectly. I still get the error before launch for quite a few games but I ignore it and games seem to run just fine. I do hope you find the right results this time around. But you can be sure the laptop will still give you some trouble at the start. But it can be tamed. Id say all advantage editions are not good for those who are new to pc gaming. Let me know how your proceed and what your experience is like. :)

      @kazmiee i appreciate the fact that there has been some renew interest. Could you test to see if Fortnite will run based on your current setup. I tried to install outside drivers to no avail. I am curious if your creative setup will do the trick. No one has posted anything about Fortnite being playable on Voyager.

    also the 4070 gets spanked by a 6800m in gaming performance. the 6800m = 3080/ti. so its between a 4070 and 4080.

    • @kazmiee
      @kazmiee  10 месяцев назад

      Normally you would he right, but in the Corsair, the GPU wattage does not go up to 150w because of the thin body and as a result can give performance between the 4060 and 4070. Are you currently using the Voyager and getting results better than a 4070? Perhaps the drivers I was using for more stability had a negative impact on end performance?

    • @beau-urns
      @beau-urns 10 месяцев назад

      @@kazmiee doesn’t matter. The memory bus and vram limits do the 60/70 see it getting spanked routinely
      They just can’t make draw calls and bring in data as fast as the 6800m. And when you increase settings they choke on vram.
      Long story short they have some benefits but they simply aren’t as capable.

      @@beau-urns it is rare to meet an AMD fan these days and I am glad that you are here to keep the red flag raised high. At $1,100 USD, this seems like a decent buy. Nice looking chassis that seems well built. But the fact that Corsair is delusional enough to think that they could ever get away with selling it for $2,700 is disturbing. A nice chassis and a few gimmicks don't mean that you can charge Razer or Apple money for middling specs and a trash display.
    Edit: I judged the display by the standards set by laptops in the price range that Corsair originally sold this at. I assume that if they asked for $2,700, they designed and built the a1600 to compete at that price point. Therefore, it should be judged by those standards. But, at the current sale prices, the screen is not trash. It's not great..but it is good enough.

    • @kazmiee
      @kazmiee  10 месяцев назад +1

      Haha, I know right? What a jump from 2700 to 1100. I would like think that AMD and the overall software / driver experience let it down. I am not happy about AMD drivers still being so difficult to deal with. You know what they say. "Software sells hardware". I really want AMD to remain competitive and viable to keep Nvidia and Intel on their toes and it makes me UNhappy that these issues still persist. i mean we are dealing with last gen hardware. All this should have been fixed by now. But yeah. Personally, my geek side found the solution to get the device under control. Knowing I can get a decent and reliable 4060 in that price, Id still somehow pick the Corsair. I did actually like it quite a bit :) but would NOT recommend it to those new to pc gaming.

    • @edwinramos4910
      @edwinramos4910 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@kazmiee Yeah..I don't understand AMD. In regard to hardware, they've proven that they can build great CPUs and good, competitive GPUs. But, they can't seem to get their act together when it comes to driver support. You'd think that would be the easy part.

    • @kazmiee
      @kazmiee  10 месяцев назад +2

      @@edwinramos4910 I swear. I always saw AMD as the blue collar hero. Radeon was the only thing I could afford by a far mile when I tried to put together my first desktop for gaming back when GPUs had 256 MB Vram. So I have always had this soft corner for them since I would not have known gaming without it. I really would love these guys to have some wins. They keep giving higher VRAM than Nvidia but it is useless without driver support

      @edwinramos4910 10 месяцев назад

      @@Matrixx679 I was pretty disgusted after finding out what they were initially charging for it when I wrote that comment, and I was judging it by that pricing standard. So no, it isn't trash...but good is relative.
      Is it good at $1,100? Yes, at the current sale price it's good enough. Is it good at $2,700...or at any price above $1,700? No, it isn't. A 350 nit display is dim by today's standards, and the color accuracy is just ok.

  • @PCPAyLOAD
    @PCPAyLOAD 10 месяцев назад +1

    First of all, its not $1100 anywhere I've looked. Second, no.. It's a first gen adopters nightmare with all kinds of software issues from mandatory Corsair drivers to not being able to function with the latest AMD drivers. ITS AN ALL AMD LAPTOP! That last part kinda matters when it comes to drivers working!. Corsair has horrible tech support across the board. If you buy this one of two, or both things, are at play. Either you don't do your research and realize there are much better options for the same money and or, you truly enjoy pulling our your hair out and spending hours on the phone with a company that has already abandoned their own product.

    • @kazmiee

      Hey Thanks for your comment. I totally feel you man. Brand new out of the box, both my Legion 7 with the Radeon 6700M and this Corsair were painful to get initially set up as I had mentioned earlier. It took a bit of experimentation but eventually I got it right with the right combination of settings and after that the Corsair was working just as intended. A friend took it off me since he liked it so much and so far he seems to be REAALLY happy. And yeah, I think the Corsair went on 1100 USD for a month or something when I got this one and the offer may have lapsed now. But as you can see in the video, the Canadian site is offering it at 1600 which is close to 1180 USD. Tech support for all the brands are actually pretty sad and typically only have 'hard resets' to offer. I even had a bad experience when trouble shooting for a problem with the Legion 9 I reviewed earlier and I eventually solved it myself thanks to a little help from Redit. I did not reach out to Corsair for the problems I came across; I would only hope these guys honor the warranties on devices in full spirit should it be required - As for your last point; I do enjoy pulling my hair out but only in special situations.. but yeah I guess I am a bit of a tinkerer and somehow find my way. Obviously there are always options out there but they can all have their own preferences and requirements and buyers should always look out for what will suit them best. I only intended to share an additional option at the mercy of fellow gamers; It is not always just about value for money :)

    Pure trash. I bought mine in December of 2023. In ONE MONTH the laptop started having major screen flickering and then the screen completely stopped turning on entirely.
    I had to send it back to corsair via RMA warranty. After a month of waiting for a response, they told me I was not getting a replacement laptop because they are out of stock and the laptop is no longer in production.
    I paid 2k for a laptop that was basically useless in a months time and then out of production thereafter. I was refunded but my experience was poor enough to decide I was NEVER doing business with corsair again.

    • @kazmiee
      @kazmiee  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah at one point I thought AMD was starting to get its house back in order but they just collapse all over again. They have not even properly released their 7000 mobile GPUs properly. Only enthusiasts and nutjobs like me would take a risk with AMD. those who are relatively new to pc gaming should steer clear of AMD for now. But I really am rooting for AMD. Intel cannot stand unopposed otherwise gamers might suffer at the hands of oppressive monopoly in the future
