      Thanks man. I am actually currently testing out the gen 8. But might need some time to record and publish the content alongside my work. Anything in particular that you think would be a deal breaker for either generation?

    Nice review - very informative - thanks!! I've just ordered one of these bad boys based heavily on this review (and a lot of reading). Here in the UK they're only £1,099 at the moment. I'll be using mine as a Linux work-horse. I just really hope I can hide the "bling" (unicorn lights).

    I can't find any battery power management reviews of all AMD system with Linux. If you install AMD OpenCL Pro drivers for Blender HIP rendering, can i use fan silence modes, can i run dedicated GPU only when pluged in, can i select manually GPU based on application that i launch, can i only use iGPU for everything other than OpenCL compute, can iGPU render desktop ui same time when dGPU does OpenCL compute or video encoding?

    Personally, i am considering that Gen 8 AMD one, or geting the ASUS Strix. If the screen on the Gen 8 covers 100% DCI-P3, ill probably by the Legion 7 Pro, otherwise, im more likely to get one of the ASUS ones

    • @kazmiee
      @kazmiee Год назад

      I still maintain its the value for money champ. Is reliable and can a good long term partner. For content creation, specifically for adobe premiere for example, with the AMD advantage edition, you can expect lile about 15 percent more time for rendering. But personally did not bother me. Awrsome for gaming, great thernals. It is a great all rounder.

    well, I'm not so pro in gaming. I like the Legion 7 Gen 7 AMD (maxed out version). But i'm confused about its GPU. Is the RX6850M XT better than 3070ti? is is really better? Legion 7i pro almost has a similar price range.

    • @kazmiee
      @kazmiee Год назад

      I am actually currently testing out the new 7i pro gen 8 with the 4070 and i believe it is slighty higher priced than the 6850 one. If you like bells and whistles, rgb and all, premium feel, discrete looks, id honestly stick with the previous gen 7. And in terms of raw performance, the 6850 is going to be awesome. Goes upto 170w of TGP. While the 3070ti still would give only 130w. And honestly, the newer 23.3 amd deiver is also pretty nice. Id go for thr 6850 if it is on a good discount honesly. I also wanted to get it for myself but thought to try the 4070 first. Up front though, I am finding the gen8 with 4070 to be a bit of a dissapointment

    Is it faster than i7 12700h and 3070ti config?

    • @kazmiee
      @kazmiee Год назад +1

      In some instances yes and some not. As i mentioned for games, it really depends on the overall game development process and engine used, chances are for more games to be developed with Nvidia collaboration so there may be more games out there there performing better on the 12th gen i7 and 3070ti. But In my opinion. In the real world a frame rate difference from say 70 fps to 80 fps will not be noticeable to the causual gamer. But however if your query is relating to say media editing capabilities and 3d rendering, video edit work, intel / Nvidia will usually be faster.
