Apologies for the late response. If you want to squeeze every little frame out of your mobile GPU, especially a 4080 or 4090, personally.. just from my own experience.. I feel your best bets are with an Alienware or a Legion. They tend to have heavy thermal solutions and can bear with extended loads.. I suppose ROG also does well with their NON-zephyrus G16 or G18s. But anyway.. coming back to the Pro 16x. It has an AWESOME screen with a 3.2K resolution. It just has a 120hz refresh rate but that is MOOOORE than plenty for story driven games which loollking amazing on this screen. The Pro 16X is just a very special and unique laptop. Being able to pull ample air from the top of the device means it manages heat quite well and is built from really high quality materials. I just dont like that it has just 1 slot for an ssd and just 1 type A usb slot. Overall, I reeeaaally like the pro16x :)
Oh yeah. I had forgotten about the S17! Would have been nice to have had it on hand for a comparison to the ROG variant. I have to also check out the Zenbook Pro Duo and find out if that screen really is useful or is it just for show

I use to keep a cooler pad a long time ago, a few years ago I had a laptop stand to give the device more space to pull in cool air (this actually made a good difference) but now I am not using anything as the newer generation of laptops have become quite efficient in cooling themselves. Perhaps in non air conditioned environments where ambient temps are between 30-35 C, ill probably have to use a laptop stand again but a cooler, still probably not :)

oh wow really? I remember in Canada I could not find anything less than a 4080. I think the top vent design is especially helpful to get with a 4080 atleast since this device has the thermal headroom to deal with the extra wattage. Hope you can find a 4080 variant soon. I actually decided to keep the Pro 16X; it is a masterpiece in the laptop space honestly.

Such a lost opportunity on a great machine. Because 2024 is going to have the same graphics cards you'd think it would have been a no brainer!
Oh noowayy! Did not realize the x16 r2 is close to release. Damn that is a shame. Using these 3.2K displays makes me feel they may be better suited for 18 inch displays. I am still hopeful that 2024 seems some kind of baseline performance bump. Atleast we should get Ti variants like we did with the 30 series. Happy with the R1 so far. I personally enjoy mini led for the 16 inch laptops. You get the great color pop and don’t have to worry about burn in. Faaaaaaaaaaack, was hoping for that screen upgrade. On another note: This zenpro really seems like a great buy, however...that circular mouse thing below the keyboard..I hate it. I dont see ANY use with it. Argh, why must laptop buys be so goddamn hard today!

Regardless, I am glad atleast one of the manufacturers are trying to be innovative and trying to bring something new to us. You can also just disable the dial. My most desperate use of it was to use it as the aircraft throttle on flight simulator. :P

Hmm, well on igpu you should get between 3.5 to 4 hours. Might not sound like much but for a performance machine. It is pretty good
