  • That's right, when it comes to the Citroën C3, IYKYK (If You Know You Know). It is a fantastic budget buy which is now considered more of a compact crossover than a budget hatch. It offers so much in terms of value for money, it is priced well and it has all that you want in a little car. For more info, you will want to watch the video.

Great review as always and it's nice to see the small guy getting some publicity too. I'm also big on budget cars, which is why I've been forgiving of the likes of Renault Kwid (in SA any car is safer than a minibus taxi) as cars like the Grand i10 and Picanto have unfortunately become too expensive for 1st time buyers.
I do think you're to a bit lenient on them about electric mirrors and iSOFIX. It can't be too expensive to include them. A proper torque convention autobox would also be great because this would be an ideal buy for retirees.

I had the Citroen C2 VTR 2004 model some time back. Very nice car and never gave any problems. Hugely under-rated brand.

Most of us we're sceptical about it, like availability of parts and reliability issues.

I still have my C2 1.4 VTR 2006. We have had very few problems from new, and all of them were purely age related. No issues with parts availability, though I had to go with aftermarket parts a few times when the agents had a long(ish) waiting period for the originals... It is pleasant to drive, very practical, not to mention fuel efficient! My mom's Tiguan, being almost 12 years newer than my Citroën, have in fact given her more problems in the first 50000km of ownership than the Citroën have in the full 18 years and 148000km of ownership! The Tiguan had 2 clutch replacements, a CV joint went, the central locking had a glitch, 2 injectors had to be replaced due to electrical issues, the car overheated due to a failed radiator fan, the steering rack started making strange noises and had to be replaced, the adjustments on the driver's seat got stuck and not even the agents could figure out why... While, the only major work that was done on the Citroën since new was that the coil pack had to be replaced at 139000km and the exhaust at 146000km. And then of course the shocks and water pump were changed twice in the past 18 years, but other than that, the engine, gearbox, clutch, and even the CV joints are still untouched like the day it was driven off the showroom floor. It even unlocks with the remote and you can easily adjust the driver's seat... Unlike the (much newer) VW;)

I still prefer manual than automatic, shame that it's disappearing.

You can do your own basic service for a 3 cyl normal breathing manual car and keep it going 1000s of kms.

With wireless Apple car play and Android auto, as well as Bluetooth, your phone should just stay in your pocket ;-)

Nah, I always take out my phone. It's too uncomfortable in my pocket when driving.

Youngsters arent the only people using phones anymore. Kind of sad when a car company doesnt think of a spot to hold your phone, yet they add phone connectivity features...
