I think the main reason why motoring journalists touch the dash and other plastic surfaces obsessively is quite logical. The softer the material, the better the sound insulation and the less rattles will develop over time. Your green eyes were popping in this video. Thanks for another honest review as always!
So tell me why do VWs rattle so much? Surface material doent mean it wont rattle. Its how it is put together and how secure the components behind are secured that counts. Also take a Merc for instance. Those lovely surface look like crap after 3-5 years as they scratch and peel. Im not a fan of form over function.
Soft touch surfaces!!. So glad you said that. Ive been researching cars for many months now and in this era of RUclips, I have had it up to my eyeballs with reviewers carrying on about hard or soft surfaces. I have been driving my current vehicle for 4.5 years and had never even thought to touch the surfaces. Absolutely love your reviews. 🙏👋
True however if the fit and finish of the plastic panels are poor then you going to get lots of creaks over time. I don't mind it if the fit and finish of them are good.
@@mfundokunene3682 it is handling very well! I live in a rural town with lots of gravel roads.. I drive very long distances and it is a very comfortable drive! Also seeing more of them on the roads now! Good fuel economy!

Love the candidness of the review. Straight forward and down to earth. My only concern is the acceleration responsiveness. Might consider this over the suzuki swift...mayyybbeee
I share the sentiment: other day I said to a guy at Nissan when I test drove a new Navara, "this Datsun Go Cross is quite cute".... They had a good chuckle!!
I agree strongly, im not keen on the looks of this Magnite, it looks like the cheap Datsun Go from the front and i wouldn't want to drive around in somethings wich is expensive but looks like something very cheap
Good value car, but instrument cluster in the Renault equivalent looks so much better than this power rangers looking cluster.....in fact Renault overall interior looks better...but Nissan wins on exterior looks and additional features...difficult choices to make..
I drove mine for 9 months, and do not recommend it at all! I eventually had to get rid of it because I could never drive it due to technical issues. And Nissan’s service is atrocious.
Nissan is a reliable brand, so your statement that you couldn't drive it for 9 months and had to get rid of it sounds strange. I see so many on the road nowadays
Has nothing to do with touching. Soft materials are used for sound deadening. This cheap piece of plastic shit will drone like a cheap plastic piece of shit
Apparently it was designed by the Datsun team, but halfway through the development Nissan took it over instead. They kept the design (potentially to their detriment) but did everything else, including engine, drive train, interior, etc.
@@mfundokunene3682 I don't think it's bad either. Definitely better than many of the others. However that grill just shouts "Datsun!" If they had made it more Nissan and less Datsun, people wouldn't associate it the Datsun Go
Hi Juliet!!! Why wouldn’t you recommend a cvt? I wish you elaborated more on this because I’m sure a lot of us don’t know how to drive manual and are worried about gears just as much now 😂😂😂
Thank you for a good review. I've been shopping around for a compact suv, what would be your recommendation between the Peogeot 2008 & the Haval Jolion? Specifically the auto versions
Why are the wheels 4.5 times smaller than the arches? It looks terrible. Looks like a kids toy. And why so excited about the equipment? A 10 year old peugeot has more equipment.

I even asked Thorpe Haval to contact you re the Jolion. Unfortunately I cannot live with 10/100km fuel consumption. Thanks for this review. About time. Nissan is almost bringing out a newer version of the Magnite. Joke.
OH My Word. YES. What moron, in daily driving is petting their dashboard... Is it a dog? If it were a surface that you actively touch and could easily scratch then fine. A dashboard could be mentioned if it reflects into the windscreen when there is sunlight, ultimately blocking your view.
@@CathodeRayNipplez I'm not American, the Chinese government has done me no wrong. Besides, it's not like they send drones to strike at innocent people.
Bought a demo H1 in Nov 2019. By Sept 2020 rust on brackets under the bonnet, also tiny rust spots on exterior. Rear view mirror also kept coming off mounting, plus many more issues. Was gonna upgrade to H2 or Jolion, but nah. Got rid of it. No Haval for me again.

I don't think so. Rattles can still develop with soft touch surfaces. The soft touch finish is too thin to provide any meaningfull insoltion

Try driving the suzuki-fronx and then see what you say
Thank you J for putting it out that the dashboard doesn't have to be soft all the time. It's a budget car.
And that is exactly the problem...cheap becomes rattles down the line....

I bought a Magnite Acenta CVT in Oct 2022 and love it. It really offers fantastic value for money - and I think it looks great.

"It just doesn't scorch my eyes when I look at it" I fully agree!
There is an unlocking system trick! Long press the lock button in the car, it prevents car from automatically locking itself.
i am using magnite from 7 months it was sooo nice
Been waiting for this as I am shopping around for a compact SUV! Thank you!! Keen to see the kiger review 👀👀👀

Cheap plastics are the norm now . Even in so called luxury brands . T cross rules this class , with its cheap plastic.

and it was smoking a little bit.. it's brand new thou😔
Watched the review 4 times now. But not for the Nissan.......this lady is greeeaaaattttttt!!!!!
You were much more critical of the Kiger yet they are the same car.
I have the Nissan Micra and it has Hill start assist, so I think that's why you are expecting it here. Plus my particular Micra is 84kw.

Weird that it does not unlock automatically or when you pull the door handle. Is that not a safety hazard?

Nice & realistic review,. On this budget SUV, I will still choose Suzuki despite the Magnite advert was more interesting

Why people complain about the brake pads that they're fault, I want this car but I'm scared to get it.
Juliet: please. Venue OR Magnite: choose!
I suspect the reason manufacturers use squishy material for the dash is perceived quality.
Sound deadening and not a perception but rather is better quality than hard scratchy cheap Chinese toy plastic.
Why are the wheels 4.5 times smaller than the arches? It looks terrible. Looks like a kids toy. And why so excited about the equipment? A 10 year old peugeot has more equipment.

Million times heavier on fuel as well. It's more expensive as well.
