That is essentially the way the Catholic church endeavors to make room in the realm of religion for papal edicts and the decrees of the Romanist councils. Thank you, Colm and Bishop Barron. Bishop Barron, I always enjoy reading your books, watch Word On Fire and listening to your courses that you and Brandon share us. I also enjoy EWTN my go to for the news, thank you at EWTN.
good interview. I am a traditional catholic and attend a TLM parish for the past 4 years. My parish is growing by leaps and bounds with lots of young families with lots of kids. during this time we've gone from 200 to 1200. The novus ordo mass can be beautiful too when the priest adheres to the rubrics and in great reverence and awe says the mass. most of the real crazed our trads seem to have left my parish and gone over to the sspx. can't we coexist and get along and allow the other to be. i don't understand all this anger and almost hatred in the Church. it seems more like the spirit of the worldly politics and not of Christ. the Church allows all the eastern rite traditions can't they allow the TLM.
My experience at an FSSP was less than desirable. Maybe it's because I'm currently living in the south, but there was lots of antisemitism, racism, sexism, corporal punishment, a mistreatment of children that "bordered" on abuse (speaking charitably), and a general bigotry towards anyone who wasn't hardcore TLM, including a strong distaste even of faithful Novus Ordo Catholics. I heard TLM attendees talk about Novus Ordo Catholics as if they were subhuman on more than one occasion, and when I would confront people, they would justify their actions with prideful admonishments of "the other", whether it was against Jewish people, or outcrying the evils of interracial marriage, or how the submission (to a degrading degree) of women was necessary, absolute, and virtuous in the eyes of God. When I spoke with the clergy, they acted as if most of it was a nonissue. I actually first went to a TLM because of Bishop Robert Barrons interview with Shia Labeouf. It saddens me beyond description to know that there are Catholics with such venom in their hearts. I hate to speak on this in a public forum, but I wish people to be wary about the TLM before they get hurt spiritually. Antisemitism is heretical since Vatican II, and there are other instances of preaching false doctrine that I care not to discuss in this public of a format. The TLM is wonderful if it is properly ordered and understood as a relic of tradition, but the beauty of Novus Ordo is just beginning to show its fruits. I think people cling to traditionalism (which is a formal logical fallacy by the way) because of the uncertainty of our culture, but it is a facade that I pray people don't cling to. Also, all of this is coming from someone who was sheltered in California, and assumed all the 2016 talk about racism, sexism, and bigotry was fake news. Sadly, it isn't, and it's not just fundamental christians succumbing to this hatred, it is even affecting our Church. I think Traditionis Custodes was an important step, and I pray that it is enough.
not my experience at all. i go to the TLM because of its beauty and reverence nothing to do with the ills of current society. you are making judgments just as you are accusing people at the parish you went to making judgments. sorry for your bad experience. may our good God lead you to a good parish and give you peace.@@danielsullivan7541

@@ululate6008 keep in mind there are extreme groups of traditionalists that have separated themselves off from Rome, calling themselves the real Catholics, and I was raised in one of them. When you trust the adults in your life and they twist things the bishop has said and teach you how he is numbered among the bad bishops, you accept it. Once I started doing my own research into everything I realized that position was not ok. But I can most definitely blame my disdain, and my ignorance therefore, on the adults who trained me to think in such a way not just towards bishop Barron, but also other bishops and the popes. For example: did you notice that there have been several religious extremist groups in the Middle East, but not in Europe? There are no Crusader terrorist groups. What's your position Father Barron on supporting Traditional Latin Mass and Traditional seminaries? Why did you not attempt to stop the closing of these wonderful religious churches? That should have been your focus! You could have made a big difference. Most Bishops and Cardinals remained SILENT, and still do, as Tradition is attacked. Before Vatican II, when the churches we're Latin-based, the churches were packed. My church sat 1.5K. We had to get there early to get a seat. Mass was and is a blessing.
@@therealong I read the paragraph a couple of times makes a good point but I was speaking particularly Church Doctrine and Dogmas which he skirts frequently.
They were packed with false Catholics going through the motions and we all know it. Our current situation is an opportunity to make true disciples. That’s good. True disciples can come from TLM, Charismatic, and “regular old” parishes.
The "traditional catholic mass" was characterized by 3 priests mumbling to themselves and gesticulating like a bunch of broken clock springs. Meanwhile the "faithful " sat in the pews , not understanding, fingerings beads, daydreaming, dozing off , or going out for a smoke. Music was either very trashy water down sappy ditties Or most of the time No Music at all. The "traditional Latin mass" conveyed a very message that it was meaningless to our lives. Then, thankfully along came Vatican 2 to restore what early church always had namely use of the vernacular and the clergy and people actually participating. The only problem was the horrific implementation that took place in too many places with perfunctory actions and more trashy Music especially the god awful folk and showtime genre.Novus ordo done correctly is the most profoundly spiritual experience and an experience of God. To hear Novus ordo done right, listen to the livestream of 12 noon mass from Basilica of National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington DC. This mass has it all: Real PIPE ORGAN, real hymns-the good stuff, excellent choir, hymns, intelligent sermon, incense, beautiful architecture, reverence and awe. Also the only meaningful Latin is for the Gloria, agnus dei and Greek Kylie. This liturgy is a model for the rest of the country and cannot come soon enough.
Would love a discussion between Bishop B and Iain McGilchrist especially on our comprehension of truth. Bishop might also remind us of ''God so loved the world'' Christ was/ is not a compendium of propositions.

I am struggling with the idea of "coherent dialogue" and Pope Francis. Isn't his wordsmithing and obtuseness one of the many problems with his leadership?
I've been following Francis closely since he was elected, as I followed JP2 and B16 closely before him. I don't recognize anything like "wordsmithing and obtuseness" in what he says and does. His teaching is clear and beautiful, just as were those of his predecessors.
@@barry1578 sure,...hence the CONTRO part of it. Your statement does not mean that the Pope's things/teaches are legitimate though, not their statements are legitimate. The Pope does not get carte blanche on teaching.
@guillermomaguire5394 I see what you're saying. My comment wasn't clear enough. They don't like the elements of Catholic doctrine that he emphasizes (e.g. on Catholic social teaching, liturgy) and he's not traditionalist enough for them, and so they come up with all kinds of false criticisms and crises in order to undermine what he says and does in general. Also, in the age of social media, even the most wacked-out, uninformed wingnuts have a voice, which is not always positive.
How do you reconcile Hard Scientific evidence being revealed by the James Webb Telescope with Theological/ Philosophical assertions??? I am honestly torn… cannot find a way to reconcile this .
The US, or west generally, today vaguely reminds me of pre Christian Rome. Although many differences, some parallels can be drawn between paganism or non believers being the majority, conflict in the Holy land, persecution (albeit not as extreme... Yet!) of followers of Jesus, moral depravity, degenerate ideas and practices, etc.
Bishop Barrens statement of questioning the existence of Hell, or if anyone is actually is in Hell demonstrates his modernistic views…NOT as a Catholic I want to go or who I want to listen to for Truth…

Catholics Claim That New Testament ls Uninspired
Not only does the Catholic church contend that the Bible is a “dead letter” and the New Testament is uninspired, but it maintains that the apostles appointed a “divine infallible apostolate” to direct us. That is essentially the way the Catholic church endeavors to make room in the realm of religion for papal edicts and the decrees of the Romanist councils.
But concider this: “For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape, if we neglect so great a salvation, which at first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him.” (HEBREWS 2:2-3)
Those who heard the word were the ones to confirm it, and that is in keeping with the following statement of Peter. “Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John, to the day when he was taken up from us. @@therealong No, I live in the Middle East myself.
Bishop Barron waters down our Faith
Please read the CCC 83 about distinguishing between Apostolic Tradition and ecclesial traditions.
Wow.... As always Bishop through the HOLYSPIRIT is used to ignite the spirit of Catholics as well all those who listens to his teachings

“I don’t believe modernist nonsense… “
Would love a discussion between Bishop B and Iain McGilchrist especially on our comprehension of truth. Bishop might also remind us of ''God so loved the world'' Christ was/ is not a compendium of propositions.
Has the Holy Eucharist ever been treated by Catholics with as much irreverence in history as it has since Vatican II?
That was great ❤❤❤
Amen
Well, if you attend an international scientific conference, you hear all languages at coffee breaks, too :-) (and it's indeed wonderful). Having said that, God bless Bishop Barron.
Nice one

Now I know why he was chased out of LA! 😳😅😂😩😂
I've heard him quote a 20th century Anglican bishop who once said, "When Paul preached, there were riots, when I preach they serve me tea."

I don’t know god because I don’t know about it. But I am know myself and the world that exists as I can see I can feel about it. Of course I am not an atheist also. I know how to love people my most concern and my forever dream is how to live at best to make people I know happy by sharing, bringing hope and humor to them. In the other hands I will do my best to help and protect people who suffer from unhappiness due to injustice. My happy resources are come from people and its world.
100% Robert Barron!
"Religion is, indeed, the self-consciousness and self-esteem of a man who has either not yet won through to himself, or has already lost himself again."
- Karl Marx
Said Karl Marx who couldn’t hold a job and had to leech from others to survive. Yeah, a real self actualized man 😮
EWTN please correct the chapter headings on the sidebar. It's not the rise of the nuns. It's the "Rise of the NONES". 😇 I love this interview. Tired of "desperately hopeless nihilism"? Try the Catholic Faith!
Excellant...
I am looking for a non watered down version of Catholicism in a parish in my area, I am still looking.
Perfecto
With down spiralling figures, how can one say Vatican II is great? Still, I love hearing Bishop Barron.
There is nothing and no one better than Jesus, and it would be the faithful response to mention His name exclusively when asked about our hope! Jesus is our hope and our salvation, and not just the best available right now like there could be or will be something or someone better later on. He's not a philosophy, Jesus is the second person of the Godhead who wants to save us from our sin nature.
In Christ,
Andrew
I agree with a statement Bishop Barron made about V2. It wasn't V2, but the way it has been allowed to be implemented.
The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit gathered so much closer when they talked???
Barron for pope!
Great Video Patrick! I am an Apple Echo geek as well so I will have to wait for Apple to release something (2025??) … 😢 You are so SPOT ON ! Question however your mini notebook (with notebook insert) you showed - what product is that? Do you have an Affiliate link? God Bless and Thank you
I wish a could assist to one of his masses.
Universal save for the traditional Catholics.
is there any way the full video link of this clip be posted too😅 I think I need to hear more... eventhough I have seen a lot of bishop's videos😊❤
St. AUGUSTINE, pray for us..
@@barry1578 and yet, so much controversy. Enjoy your day.
@guillermomaguire5394 Controversy intentionally stirred up by people who do not like certain things that he teaches or does.
William F. Buckley...yes sir!
Bishop Barron, after Thomas Aquinas, which book of Thomas Merton drew you deeper into loving God? interested to read it! thanks very much!

What is there to reconcile?
Hello all
@brendamyc3173it makes me sick, I think Bishop Barron said the same at some point in the video.
my dad loved william f buckley.
With all my heart, I'd like to see Bishop Barron begin addressing the nonsense coming from Pope Francis.
It wasn’t necessary to come out of the gate taking jabs at traditionalists with those cassock remarks. We are still the black sheep it seems.
Not if you just ignore these types.
I’m thinking of moving to Roman Catholicism, when the Pope says an atheist who has his two sons baptised will be in Heaven, sounds too good to be true.
What does he think of the synod? Especially today's letter issued.
