You missed the best part, the post race interviews with Gunther Steiner. It felt like he and Carlos were competing for who has the thickest accent and Charles didn't understand most of it. xD
Gunther is amazing and I’m genuinely happy to see him on the commentary team, but yeah, maybe that particular spot wasn’t the best use of his talents….

One addition is that early in the weekend Sainz was asked what is his favourite Mario Kart weapon and he quickly answered star which he made good use of it seems.
Alonso had a different idea, deploying the banana on Russell, which the stewards deemed as illegal later on.

As an American.... welcome to how I feel for about 90% of the calendar time zone wise.
everybody has issues bro. as a european i'm mostly lucky with the f1 races (except usa/japan/australia). but i literally cant sleep at night if i wanna watch the NBA games.
I'm also an American. I just sleep in and watch the highlights on the main channel like the lazy bastard I am lol
theres like 3 grand prix in america i find this a strange complaint
As an American you deserve to know our pain for once, for every F1 there's like 10 sports that us Brits are the ones having to be up at fuck-you-o'clock for.
Sainz+Norris Podiums seemingly always signify the most interesting races, love that duo, though they weren't cooperating this time around.
Ikr, I have a feeling that when Lando gets his win, Carlos will be on the podium as well somehow
Cmon, the race was genuinely boring after the max dnf. There were less than an average number of passes on track and all gaps pretty much held firm.

@@superxavxii421 I don’t disagree, I’m only saying the race wasn’t that interesting in the racing department. Dnf’s and a different winner are exciting but on track battles were few and far between.

The scary thing is max said his brake was on from the start. And he still pulled away until his moment in lap 2. Literally driving faster with the handbrake on. Just goes to show this season is still absolutely fucked unless he retires more.
Brakes are not completely on or off though. If it's slightly on any driver will notice the car pulling. Which explains his moments in turn 3, 6 and 7. But yeah it will just heat up more and more until it goes boom apparently.

I didn't want to wake up so early for another dutch/austrian anthem mix. My GF said "ok but what if you wake up and see Ferrari 1-2?".
And I woke up 2hours after the race. Checked the rusults.

I was at the track on the exit of turn 10 and vibes when max had a DNF were insane, we literally cheered sainz around for 2-3 laps after the DNF
Will, I love your videos. Your wit and timing in the edit - especially crash-cutting directly to Albon’s and Russell’s accidents (“… oh, there it is…”) go beyond your writing and vocal talents, which are very strong, IMHO. Would’ve loved a knock on Guenther trying to interview the podium finishers in a literal echo chamber, but there’s only so much time, eh?
Thank you for all you do for the sport, and for your sharp commentary. Your videos are part of my race weekend ritual and the GP isn’t complete without them.

Honestly was sad to see max catch fire. I was hoping for a new record.
Be fair to Russell, he didn't even know why he was being called to the stewards. He said it was on him for not braking fast enough or something, though he was confused by how quickly Alonso's car came to him in the corner (watch his onboard. He had no chance). They discovered that, to all intents and purposes, Alonso brake checked him - and using his gears so no brake lights - which it sounds like he also frankly lied about, saying his gears had a moment where they went wrong. Turns out, that's what happens when you use the gear paddle.
I'm just glad George was okay.
I'm also dead chuffed for Carlos. You could see how much he hurt when trying to get out of the car. He deserved that win.

Whether he retired or not. There are 4 cars getting closer. Max is absolutely outstanding but he is certainly not unbeatable. The Ferrari looked damn close Sunday & the McLarens are. It certainly is not like this time last year.

This was the first Australian gp I was able not to take a nap in the middle of due to the slightly early midnight start time. I just felt like the whole who was going to win thing made it interesting, also I'm a Ferrari fan so I wasn't going to miss it.
Nah it was boring AF. Big gaps between them and Sainz utterly dominating (at least till 3 laps to go).

me mclaren friend was quite gleeful in their desciption of verstappen's struggles and slight explosion at albert. they definitely had fun in their seat section lol
Since everything on a F1 car is disassembled, inspected and rebuilt after every race ( with the exception of certain parts of the power unit) , I am very interested in the story of who worked on that back brake assembly on the Max's car. This kind of failure seems to be impossible to happen by accident. Like Red Bull's management was instructed by F1 management to do something because people were tuning out by the millions. I am very happy for Carlos. He has always tried to give 100%, even when the team has told him to do otherwise. Bravo, Mr. Sainz.
I expect a Max clean sweep from here on to the season finish. I would like Sergio to do something, anything. He should be second in every race. Anyway, Congratulations to Carlos Sainz.
Russels crash shines a bit of light on the big problem Merc has. They seem to suffer really badly in dirty air (as well as being bloody slow). They never seem to advance much during a race, not even being able to get past low mid table cars.
Maybe… just maybe it has a bit to do with being brake checked 🤔 but yea the car isn’t all that great.
F1 should have 1 backup car per driver like IndyCar. No need to make a driver sit out because their teammate messed up.

What about Oscar Piastri? Nobody spoke about him being able to finish in 4th place. Which was a good start for a rookie like and a good amount of points to prove his worth.

As an American I had to stay up from 1-3:30am on a Sunday. That wasn’t fun. I won’t deny it’s rough for you Europeans/anyone else but a spare a thought for the race of us, eh? Awesome work as always Will! ❤

I’m in America. I got up at 5am to go to work and while at work I watched qualifying for the race. Because it started at 7am where I am. Later in the day as I was with people I watched the race that started at 10pm

7:58 - same thing happened to me! It was 10pm, I was going to watch Max settle in to an insurmountable lead, then go to bed...and suddenly I was AWAKE!
Try to change my mind as much as you want, i am fully convinced that after his DNF, Max put on a spare pair of Ferrari overalls got in Sainz' car at the 1st pit stop. And fucked off down the road.

What I'm most worried about is the lack of battling. The points paying positions seem to be totally locked because there's a massive difference between all of them
Ferrari showing they have easily the best driver lineup with Leclerc being the fastest on pure pace on the whole grid and Sainz being near bulletproof in his consistency so far this year. Incredible! Would be happy to see either of them win a WDC
