This has been my ship since the campaign began. I know Caleb will never make the first move and that the only way it could happen. Useless is such a perfect way to describe it.
I love it. I'm so stuck between Widowjest and Fjorester. The dance with the voices really brought about those raw feelings and i think a pivotal point in the Fjorester fandom. Namely that Jester was flirty and cute with Caleb up until he called her Astrid and i think that moment really hurt her for a moment. But like the light she is she decided to use that moment to try and get Caleb and Astrid back together. Ahh this evokes so much of the complex emotion that takes place in the show.

I was team Fjorester for a long time, Then Liam had to say those words on Talks. then Widowjest took off in my heart as I rewatched moments in the campaign... I thought I was ok in this ship, until Travis published his new Playlist for Fjord, which he wrote in Fjord's POV and had a song for Jester in it...I am so torn between the two ships
I was hardcore Fjorester but then... suddenly they danced and BAM Widojest was just there as the perfect sad love story I always gush for. But then... she and Beau just have such excellent chemistry. And then... actually, the way Jester takes care of Yasha is really sweet and.... I've finally come to the conclusion that I think that polyamory is simply the only way to go here and I won't be persuaded otherwise. Just give Jester the harem we all know she deserves.

How fitting that it would come to an end just as things start to return to “normal” and I begin a new chapter of my life. Amazing how fictional characters and likewise a song can strike a deep cord. To mean so much. Change is coming now though and I don’t know if I’m ready.
Many other songs you have made have this cold and sorrowful tone to them because those are the most common big moments in the show but this song celibates the rare happy moments that end up being what you remember the most.
As someone who started the campaign late and got into through clips and spoilers I know Forjester is endgame but Widowjest is still what stole my heart while watching. They have such an interesting dynamic and the dance moment really sold it for me. Also I can’t help but see myself in characters like Caleb all throughout media, the one that carelessly falls in love and doesn’t get chosen. So MAN this hit home.
Even the harmony and melody is a representation of Jester and Caleb. I don't know if that was intentional or something done subconsciously but I just realized that the melody feels more like Jester: somewhat upbeat, sweet, full of energy. Maybe a little chaotic. They're in the foreground and generally what you hear first; Jester's the one that gets everyone's attention. The harmony meanwhile is subtle, soft, almost blending into the melody like a faint shadow, which definitely fits Caleb's personality. Both compliment each other very well, which is also indicative of Caleb's feelings. Her kindness has helped draw him out of the shadows, step by step, and it is that kindness (and the chaos, because chaos is also very lively) he is drawn to. Caleb hasn't had someone treat him with such kindness in so long he's forgotten what it feels like. Death has fallen "uselessly in love" with Life. The song starts out with the harmony, indicating to the listener that this song is primarily from Caleb's perspective, then the melody starts (enter Jester), showing us that his thoughts have turned towards our favorite Trickster Cleric. The fact that this melody is so soft and sweet for the lyrics really puts emphasis on how "uselessly in love" Caleb is, because the harmony reveals his underlying feeling of not being worthy. Breaks my heart even more
This song has such a resigned warmth to it. The piano elements that echo in the background really compliment the drums, I think I'll relisten another 4 times now- you killed it Chase :)
I am of the group that ships Widojest knowing damn well it’s not gonna happen. Laura wants her character to be snuggly with Travis’, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. It’s not out of the blue, there are moments on both sides that give the definite impression that both like each other, if I’m not wrong they even kissed recently. But I do think Widojest will be one of my biggest what if’s when it comes to critical role.

Each time I heard “Your chaos is what’s keeping me sane” made me look up, straighten, and with sweet pain smile in calming confidence. Yes. It does. It allows to dive into, to succumb to the feeling, then splits it and draws away with all the undone and broken, leaving bittersweet warmth. So gorgeous both within fandom and on its own. Later I checked other songs of yours and they're great too, especially Mollymauk's reprise and What he keeps on his nightstand. I think I have listened to this song now about 20 times, and it reminds me of the beautiful South song "Black Bird on the wire" Ha 10 years ago when I thought relationships where a thing I was meant to have, this song would have resonated with me... It's kinda dumb, but I did a short bit of creative writing inspired by your song. I called it "The Waltz". I hope it's worth the quick read. You held out your hand to me, and nodded towards the center of the ballroom. The lights and the crowds of people dancing and twirling together wells up a knot in my stomach that aches and ties up my voice. Your eyes look at me expecting a response but I can't manage the words. I take your hand and you pull me to an open space in the room, placing my hand on your waist, and yours on my shoulder. My steps feel heavy and cumbersome as I try not to step on your toes while we turn, over and over to the tempo of the orchestra. You squeeze my hand in reassurance and for the first time in this dance I look up from my feet to see your face close to mine. I never noticed how calming it was to see the brown of your eyes, or the fluttering of your eyelashes. Your hand fits so perfectly in mine, and you stare so tenderly it melts my soul. It's kinda dumb, but I did a short bit of creative writing inspired by your song. I called it "The Waltz". I hope it's worth the quick read.
You held out your hand to me, and nodded towards the center of the ballroom. The lights and the crowds of people dancing and twirling together wells up a knot in my stomach that aches and ties up my voice. Your eyes look at me expecting a response but I can't manage the words. I take your hand and you pull me to an open space in the room, placing my hand on your waist, and yours on my shoulder. My steps feel heavy and cumbersome as I try not to step on your toes while we turn, over and over to the tempo of the orchestra. You squeeze my hand in reassurance and for the first time in this dance I look up from my feet to see your face close to mine. I never noticed how calming it was to see the brown of your eyes, or the fluttering of your eyelashes. Your hand fits so perfectly in mine, and you stare so tenderly it melts my soul. These walls around my heart I've worked so hard to build up and protect myself from the harshness of the world are melting as easily as wax, leaving the soft tissue of my heart exposed and vulnerable. The crowds seem to fade into a fog, and the music is no more than a hum. It's hard to tell if we're even dancing anymore, or just floating in a void. All I can feel is your hand in mine, and my hand on your waist. All I can see is the color of your eyes and the blush on your cheeks. The world has faded away and all that is left, is you. Before I even realize, we've stopped dancing. The music ends, and the world returns in full. The blinding lights, and the crowds, and the murmur of the ballroom return to view. Everything is exactly as it was before, but in that brief moment with you my world was entirely changed. Everything is exactly the same, and yet looking at you feels entirely new. Everything is the same, until I notice your hand is still holding onto mine. Nothing is the same.
