Dang. If you hadn’t said the voice breaking was an accident, I would’ve believed it was part of the song, because my goodness, it was so perfect for that. And the fact that it’s genuine emotion makes it that much more perfect.

Your voice cracking in that last line honestly adds so much to the song, in a way I'm glad you couldn't sing it without breaking. Vocalists who genuinely feel the emotions behind the lyrics always perform and ring true.

I never expected Vex's song to be so heartbreaking.... a great character study of the hurt under her self-confident exterior and desire for material riches, and what she truly values under it all. As for the last line, I'd never have realized that it hadn't been meant to break off, it was truly perfect.
"When I die, gild my bones" one line in and it's already a banger, you KNOW it's gonna be good
That hightened part 2:17-3:21 is literal goosebumps, holy shit (also don't worry about the breaking voice in the end, feels very appropriate to the context :D )

This song is absolutely beautiful. It perfectly captures the wants of Vex. How she always wanted to be known instead of being worthless. Her own father abandoned her and vax but this song hits so different cause she is just trying to prove herself to everyone as well as trying to find her own way in this messed up world.

The like octave down harmony is so rich and juicy, it makes it feel like vax is kinda singing it with her, or that she has part of herself somewhere else that is expressing this. Golden dude. Just golden.
I just realized that 1) Vex and Vax's art in these videos are looking at each other, and 2) the last two stanzas for both their songs are painful parallels for each other ("I'd give up all my gold for just one more day to tease you" and "There's no price too steep to pay to bring you back to life"), Chase, you freaking genius; painfully beautiful work.
You may have not intended your voice to break at the end, but that genuine emotion legitimately just makes the meaning of the lyrics there all the more real. Glad you put this out there in spite of deeming that a mistake.

Every time i think you couldn't possibly top your best, you go and do it again with this absolute masterpiece of a song. The music, the lyrics, the vocals and the emotions!! Absolute diamond. That voice break honestly adds so much more to this songs end. It stays steady throughout in it's highs and lows. Flows smooth. So for it to break then literally makes it hold quite a bit of weight in a very good way. You don't really get that in songs usually. (Also will admit that part made me cry a bit.)

I love how your voice weakens as the character starts talking about how much she misses her brother. It sounds exactly the way someone experiencing those feelings would actually sound.

Okay, I didn’t know anything about Vox Machina (I finally looked it up in Google), but when this song cycled through on auto play the hair stood up on the back of my neck. Truth. The evocatively somber but heartfelt lyrics, the warm baritone voice that I could feel in my chest through the subwoofer. I love this song. I love listening to it, I love singing it (it lets me use my lower range). This is a perfect song and leagues better than anything playing on internet radio.

Goddamnit Chase, why do you torture me! It's so pretty but so sad! No joke, I was literally crying for a good five minutes, I mean, seriously crying. I'm still getting teary-eyed after like 20 lessons. Now I'm concentrating on loading the lyrics, so it's not as bad, but it's still bad! How long till I can give you my money! I must buy! Also, I love the use of strings, considering Vex is an archer, that's neat. I also really really like how you combined both her motivation for wanting money, and her relationship with her brother, and Percy, a little bit, and her backstory in Syngorn, and everything! I have been waiting for vex's song and I'm not disappointed all my coworkers are looking at me funny but I really don't care this is great, the emotion in every line!
This song is amazing It would be perfect for a Marvel video based on Thor Loki and Odin Just taking clips from the different movies and the different scenes with the three of them interacting as well as different scenes from their movies and tv shows or streaming shows I think it would be fantastic if someone with the talent could put that together and then present it tomorrow and say look you need to do a montage for this song with these characters with you know and release it as a actual thing at the end disney plus but the song is amazing it definitely brings up the emotions.
