Barkley at his peak was one of the most amazing players I've ever seen!! They always listed him at 6"6 but in reality he was a shade under 6"5. For a player of his height and bulk he had INCREDIBLE agility and hops combined with a motor that never seemed to wear down. And watching Sir Charles go end to end on a fast break was something to see!! Without question he's one of the top 50 NBA players of all-time--and I might go as high as top 30.
And remember, he was getting a whole bunch of CONTESTED rebounds. Not like a lot of these stat-padders today getting a whole lot of Uncontested rebounds.
I've joked for years about how Lebron steals rebounds from his teammates all the time. He won't box out, he'll just flash in after the shot and take the ball that's about to be grabbed by his teammates who did box out lol Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

Best PF in his prime overall IMO. Undersize 6’5” but dominated much taller guys at the same position or at center, outrebound them too. 💪🏻 Oh and he didn’t need a side kick ala stockton or parker to be great. Only downside was his nagging injuries.
My favorite Barkley story was from his time at Auburn. Auburn went to Lexington to play Kentucky and Barkley had something like 28 points and 17 rebounds playing against Mel Turpin and Sam Bowie who often played at the same time. Kentucky won anyway as expected and after the game Barkley was asked how he managed to have success against the 2 seven footers. Barkley replied, "It was easy.
💯💯💯🎯🎯🎯💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
And remember, he was getting a whole bunch of CONTESTED rebounds. Not like a lot of these stat-padders today getting a whole lot of Uncontested rebounds.
Thank you. A triple double isn't the same today as it was in the 1980s.
@@urbanlegendsandtrivia2023 nothing today is the same, the numbers today are garbage.
I've joked for years about how Lebron steals rebounds from his teammates all the time. He won't box out, he'll just flash in after the shot and take the ball that's about to be grabbed by his teammates who did box out lol Once you see it, you can't unsee it.
@@logicaldude3611 That's funny!
Yep, because guys just run away from rebounds.
Charles Barkley is a legend. He might not be a Champion but he's definitely an All- Time Great.
Loser
If he was drafted to a better organization, he'd be a lot closer to Duncan.
@@jordannietos this statement makes no sense lol. what was a better team?
@@kcorpora1 He had no supporting cast. If he did, he'd be a lot higher. Obviously Duncan was the more talented of the two. But Barkley was no slouch. Just had to do it all himself.
@@jordannietos he came in with a 30 year old Moses Malone to start. Not understanding what you mean. Bird was on a team that lost 39 more games the previous year.
You gotta love Charles Barkley what a legend
I’m glad I was born right around the time to be able to see the amazing players of the 90s like MJ and Barkley as well as seeing the entire career of my favorite player Kobe Bryant along with all the crazy good players of that era. Even though it was only the tail end of his career, I still remember Barkley being so good while being heavily undersized for his position. I wish I could have seen Barkley and players like MJ during their earlier days as i really wish I was able to compare Jordans entire career to modern players lo
It’s crazy being a kid from the Chicagoland area born in the late 90s. Growing up, Charles Barkley was an SNL host and NBA analyst who happened to appear in Space Jam. I’m so glad I dove into his career recently, because MAN was this guy good.
Barkley was amazing. I remember when he came to Houston when I was a kid. It was very exciting. He still played really well here despite being past his prime.
Sir. Charles Barkley is a legend, period.
His interviews during the Olympics were hilarious. Jordan and the rest of the team kept telling him to be quite and said that Charles said things on camera that just shouldn't be spoken lol.
His Nike sneakers were also the best after Jordan himself. I remember rocking the Air Forces 180, the Air Max Force 93 and the CB 94s.
I had the Air Force 180 highs back when they were new and even though they looked awesome, they were not good to play in at all. The soles were so slippery that they were almost unwearable on the court.
Iverson were way more dope.
he's so underrated. what he was able to do at his height was simply incredible, especially considering he was playing in the greatest era of centers in nba history. i'd have him in my top 15-20, probably the highest of any player who didn't win a title.
Charles his fierce personality reminds me of Russ
Old viewers might get reminded of MJs and Barkleys of the world back then by watching Russ...
Also they can both rebound amazing for their height
it's a reason these 80s and 90s players always compliment russ, he plays with the same intensity and energy. go hard or go home.
@@yasso2031 yessir that only makes sense the dude is really competitive and doesn’t complain too much and just goes with it. He doesn’t give up easily! He is a hard one bro
Ur comment is so accurate
4:16 Best coast-to-coast ever.
SAVAGE!!
That was 🔥
Man, yes. In any era, that dunk is as powerful as it gets.
Looked like a man playing against lil kids 😭
Brutal!
Barkley was the truth. I remember the Finals against my home team, the Chicago Bulls. That team, in general, was a great team. KJ and Thunder Dan Marjle with Barkley were tough. People talk about undersized big men like Rodman, Green, e.t.c but Barkley was MJ's height playing the 4 and dominating. And this is with him being overweight.
I remember him saying the people of Chicago should be grateful that they beat the Bulls, because they saved their city from another celebration riot.
He was a big man in a guards body that dominated… one of the legends
Great to see someone give him the respect that he deserved
Sir Charles 👑🐐✌🏽
Yes, great player and a man we all need
Wtf? No.
One of the greats. ' 93 was his peak. No ring doesn't mean a thing. Great basketball IQ.
The caption was all i needed to see...
This man is a hall of famer the pinnacle of his career!
Everyone thinks the championship are the pinnacle, but it's alot of players with championships/rings...
But nobody remembers them.
The Hall of Fame is the pinnacle!
He was my favorite player when he played for the Suns. All the basketball fans in my class loved him.
Even if he did not won a ring. I respect his game, at 6'5" freaking power forward!
Sir Charles sure looks like he’s having a lot more fun with his post-NBA career & life MJ…😁
6'4 and he had fundamental problems.
You really undersold that PHX team. They won 50 games or more from 89-92, made the WCF twice, KJ was 20ppg-10ast on 50% FG for 3 straight yr, arguably the 2nd best PG in the league at that time. Chambers, Ainge, Hornacek, Majerle, Dumas, EJ, O.Miller, West.
I am thankful that Barkley made it into the 75 year team, he truly deserves it.
He certainly was a beast. In that ‘93 Finals he averaged 27.3 points, 13 rebounds and 5.5 assists.
Even though I am aKnicks fan I think Barkley is awesome! Great player and commentator on TV. Thank you Charles
Before Sir Charles he was the Round Mound of Rebound. And his Philly years he was absolute monster.
one of the greatest "right place wrong time"s
I remember him playing I grew up in the 90s
Barkley was never underrated, it’s just past his playing days. The man is definitely top 20 all time
Sir Charles was one of my favorite players because of his effort level. He played like it was an important game every game. Amazing ability to play a position that is normally played by men at least several inches taller.
I still remembered that Paxson's 3 point shot, a dagger to my heart.
Sir Charles indeed. Great and colorful and real person. One of the best at what he does. Love him or hate him. He is real.
Didn’t even mentioned the back to the basket rule that was created because he was too good at backing players down!
He played hard and out hustled everyone. He was fun to watch. I met him at the local grocery store about 5 years ago. He was so cool saying hi to everyone and shaking hands. He's lived a great life.
"Barkley combined his huge butt with astonishing explosiveness " I was not ready for that lol
If you saw him in his prime. He was incredible!!!!!
He really was spectacular in his peak years--nobody quite like him before or since!!
You don’t beat Jordan in the finals. Period. Chalres was an All time great.
Knicks would have beaten the suns in the finals that year.. Barkley was an all time great tho
I wish he won that ring just so MJ could never say Charles doesn’t know what it takes to be a winner again.
You don't beat the Bulls in the Finals. Period
@@TWHowl according to Jayson Williams, at Philly practice he just yelling to his teammates while eating Mac at Static Bicycle
Thanks to paxon
Being 6'5 and winning the rebound title speaks to not just his freak athleticism but also his motor and competitiveness
That finals against the Bulls are still my favorite games to this day. Its just 2 superstars going at it.
I was JUST talking to a 23 y/o co-worker recently and told him the Sixers won it all in '83, drafted Barkley the next year and havent won anything since. He was like, "Wait, what??" 😆😆 Sixers gonna Sixer lol. Hopefully we dont waste Embiid's time like we did his and Iverson's.
I’ve never given a fuck about championships it’s a team game so Barkley in my mind is right up there with just about anyone if we’re going off who would you take #1 in an all time draft…he had every trait including intimidation
“Charles was the best player in the dream team”
Most valuable, nowhere close to best.
@@keithjoseph128 Yes he was, he was a beast.

He was like a linebacker playing basketball. Never back down from anybody. Rumbled with Shaq and threw a ball in Rodman's face.
I’d say he was more of a defensive lineman lol, he was a monster
Lucky enough to have grown up watching the round mound of rebound.
And rebound he did! I truly believe he could've matched Rodman in that area had he chosen to concentrate exclusively on the boards as Dennis did.

Such an underrated channel. Glad I can say I've been here since 10 thousand subscribers
Barkley is a 1 of 1. A league MVP. Cultural icon and an All Time Great. Put some respect on his name.
He's so human and down to earth. Everyone lost their minds when he said he wasn't a role model, that the parents should be role models.

I only knew Barkley by name and face until a few days ago and would have seen posts about him on Reddit every now and then throughout the years but after going down the NBA talk show/analyst rabbit hole ever since this year's playoffs and watching loads of TNT vids I realized how unfeigned and real he is, his penchant to mess around and rib everyone with a comedic delivery that's hardly rivalled by seasoned stand up pros is refreshing to witness along with the chemistry and bond he's built with other co-hosts, especially Shaq. I've grown to like and respect him for his genuine personality and also his deep understanding and love of Basketball so learning just now about what a great player he was makes him even bigger in my eyes.
People forget that Barkley also had two of the greatest sneakers in basketball history!
Sir Charles..he absolutely was the bomb.
Moses Malone basically created Hakeem Olajuwon and Charles Barkley
One of the best power forwards to play the game. I remember the 93 finals like it was yesterday watching him battle mj was basketball at its finest.
Good enough that everyone who didn't have a Jordan jersey had a Barkley jersey back in the day
This man to me was the only one to take it to Jordan and Pippen
in the finals ..He doesn't get enough credit
Best PF in his prime overall IMO. Undersize 6’5” but dominated much taller guys at the same position or at center, outrebound them too. 💪🏻 Oh and he didn’t need a side kick ala stockton or parker to be great. Only downside was his nagging injuries.
KJ or Thunder Dan were nobodies?
6'4 on a tall day
Hmmm jabs @ Duncan? Hmmm
@Alix Anthony I will take jabs. Barkley's per game stats are better than Duncan's. And Tim Duncan was gifted with playing for the Spurs.
Explosive, big, can run the floor, never seen anyone like him.
Zion
I was lucky enough to watch him play in some Atlanta home games. The man is a Legend.
It's crazy to hold not winning a ring against him, like he didn't have to go against the GOAT.
I used to love the NBA playoffs in the 90's as a kid
He was fantastic and fun to watch…back when I used to watch NBA
Mr powerful! Hustle , rebound , shot he was a damn great Player!
I just put my butt in their thigh and I pushed them where I wanted them to go"'.
Dream team and Hall of famer! He was a beast!

Hey bro, thank you for the video. Phenomenal job!
Zion Williamson always reminded me of Charles Barkley
Totally different players.
He reminds me of chuck too, but Barkley offensive game was polished! Barkley could shoot the 3, his post game was unstoppable and Barkley is arguably the best rebounder ever, especially by height!
He’s the Dan Marino of the nba
Great comparison!
He had some pretty cool shoes too!!
his rant on Cashier was my all time favorite clips in the internet..
I saw Charles at The Fox & Hound in b’ham years ago. I asked his security guy if Charles would mind taking a pic. Not only did he take a pic but he invited us to join his table and even picked up our tab. I was wearing a Miami Heat hat and he kept giving me a hard time lol. He’s a good dude. 👍💪
